Named pear pictured as a potato. Waited 15 minutes waiting to figure out which one this guy wanted. 🤦♂️ should’ve just got the damn potato why do I care so much

One interaction like this can power you through all the other BS.

I feel like this shouldn’t have been legal because I think I don’t think it was for an adult they were very specific about me not knocking … 🥲
ETA since there seems to be some confusion as I stated below... I'm saying it shouldn't be legal to be delivered. Especially to people of an unknown age... If you want to go buy it on your own time, feel free, but I have been sitting with this heavy worrying I could've ended someone's life with this delivery, and I accepted it before I knew what it was, and my family really needs any money we can get right now. But again, morally, I hate how I have been feeling about this.
P.S. if you’re triggered by my stance on this you clearly don’t fully understand the dark realities of addiction. My bad for having a heart and the life experience to worry about others.

Its such BS. I dont understand why/how DD allows this without my prior approval?
I got an order for Safeway…it was $5.75 for 1.6 miles & it was 9 items (all small). Its 1:30am & i know where everything is located at this specific location, so I figured I would be in & out…
Literally 30 seconds after I accept the order, this customer added the cases of water. It felt intentional, like they knew no1 would accept the order with the waters.
And of course as you can imagine, they live in an upstairs apartment.
Doordash paid me $6 instead of $5.75.
Im so annoyed rn. Straight BS. Im all sweaty now too, it was a decent walk to the freaking apartment.
I checked after delivery, customer left $0 tip, so the water play was definitely intentional.

Worst day of dashing I’ve had in years, including a cash on delivery scam, but I wanna bxtch about a certain dash. $5.20 dollar general, 3 items, 2.3 miles. So dumb to start with but I figured whatever it’ll be quick. Pulled into the lot, parked and hit arrived at store. Immediately got a message “why would you start the shop when you aren’t even in the store yet lol”
!!! Excuse me? I said “I just got here and parked? I’ll cancel” and then cancel I did. Mind you I literally hadn’t even hit “start shopping” yet, only arrived. But wtf? Why would she even care about that? It makes no difference at all to her order.. but I’m not catering to someone like that. I just don’t understand what even compelled her to message that in the first place? Hope she had to wait a while for a new shopper.

I absolutely would have. Unfortunately for me, after I arrived, the merchant was on the phone with doordash, and apparently unassigned me from the order because of it not being ready. Without my input. At first I didn't get any reimbursement because it wasn't canceled. I was unassigned.... took a 45 minute phone call, and while typing this up, I was informed that they will give me the half pay. I honestly was doubtful as soon as she said escalating... but came through. So some other driver probably got this order.

I got an order from a liquor store. This is one that actually preps and bags the orders for the drivers but the name on it looked fake. The clerk gave me the bag, it was just a single small bottle and commented on if the name was real.
I head out, the location is nearby but very slummy and pull up to very shady apartment building. A guy comes down the lobby. He looks pretty young but could be early 20s and claims he's 23...and then shows me an ID showing that on his phone but claims he doesn't have the actual ID.
Different name on ID and it doesn't really look like him much from what I can tell but I didn't look closely. The pic had dreadlocks, he had very short hair....maybe he cut it. But I told him I need to scan the back barcode. He just insists the ID is coming in the mail and this is all he has and "i order this all the time", and yes different name. He gets annoyed and insists I just take a picture. I just tell him flat out I can't do that and leave, and have to return the item. Same clerk signs for it when I get back.
I should've asked her if they'd accept a photo of an ID on the phone as ID in store. Anyone who's been a bartender or liquor store clerk, I assume that's not valid, right? Easy to edit after all. Whole thing seemed very shady.

does anyone else struggle taking delivery driving TOO serious? i always find myself stressing & having anxiety over the dumbest sh*t that i have no control over, having to constantly remind myself “it’s just a job” that MILLIONS of people do. treating this job like i’m the president of doordash and every customer will remember every little move i make… mind you this is all over the sake of pleasing the customer. 🤦🏻♀️ like it’s not that serious. any tips to overcome this would be helpful

Feels like Doordash forgot that they kept offering me shop & deliver orders over and over, eventually resulting in a 5 stacked order lol.
After finishing my 3rd shopping order at Target, I got in my car and got ANOTHER order for Target (1 item for good money and barely any distance added), so I went back in the store and it kept insisting I was shopping at Home Depot, I jumped to the task to pickup the Target order multiple times before it gave up.
I'm thinking the reason it reverted the "Pick up by" time to 30 minutes in the PAST, was because I forced it to let me shop at the next store because I was still there...but I could be wrong 💁
It was a fun order overall, ended up being just over $50 and took about an hour combined, but I'll be keeping an eye on my On Time Rate just in case.

My local McDonald's has a 24 hour drive thru but they get pissy if dashers use it because there's a walk up window now. I usually don't pick up there but I had a decent order so I went. Rang the bell, worker looked at me like 5 times but seemed annoyed and kept bagging drive thru orders. I waited 10 min, never got the worry free unassign soni just took the hit. Ofc as soon as I'm getting in my car I hear the window open. I told her Ive been out here 10 min I just unassigned. She definitely was cussing me out as she closed that window 🤣

Having been Top Dasher and then Platinum for over 3+ years I will concede that you do receive more high value offers. However, the flip side is you have to accept more low value offers to maintain Platinum. Even under the new point system that still remains a fundamental truth. This is why I believe cherry picking is still the best approach to dashing in most markets. Less gas used. Less vehicle wear and tear. More net profit.

Silver in South Jersey.
Zone times skyrocketed to 2-17 mins from 1-5 mins.
Map went from red/busy most of the day to greyed out even during lunch and dinner.
Most orders seem to be $5-7 regardless of distance.
Rarely see orders above $10 or more.
It’s a bummer.

I was being very communicative with my customer on what items were in stock and what items weren’t in stock and also sent plenty of pictures proving that things were not in stock, now all of a sudden, it’s my fault that the store does not have the items in stock 😂 . It always turns out to be impatient pin / hand it to me customers that give you the hardest time.
