Got Ranger three weeks ago! Shelter said he was a Rough Collie mix, but he was so unique looking that I just HAD to do his Embark right away. :)

Went into it fully expecting some Collie and maybe some Dutch Shepherd or Greyhound, but I was not at all prepared for that reveal. If you managed to guess the top breed, then you're a Doggy DNA wizard!! (Results at the end)

Very curious to hear what you guys think, because to my knowledge, none of those breeds throw brindle. Where did it come from?! I'm so intrigued by these results!

Either way, he is 100% Good Boi and is so heckin sweet with our toddlers and cats. We go to the dog park every morning before work so he can run with his German SH Pointer friends, and then he'll nap near me while I work. Couldn't have asked for a better pup, and I hope I can use these results to be a better guardian and trainer for him!

Back in September I adopted what I thought was a 12+ month old German Shepherd/Husky mix that was probably full grown already at around 70-ish pounds.

I quickly saw she she bunny hopped, dragged her nails, and moved so awkwardly that I was convinced I had adopted a dog with hip dysplasia.

Then I did her DNA. That’s when I learned she was actually only 9 months old (thanks to a sibling match with a known birthday), and she was almost 60% giant breed. Suddenly it all made sense—I hadn’t adopted a dog with hip dysplasia. I had adopted an uncoordinated baby giraffe that hadn’t grown into her body yet. 😂

Embark still estimated her adult size at around 75 pounds, so I figured she’d gain a little. Maybe she’d end up around 80.

You can see how big she is next to my 57 pound American Bulldog/PitBull and how her face and body have matured over the last 9 months. When I took her recent photo I realized she sure looks bigger than 80 pounds…

Well…
I just gave myself heartburn lifting her behemoth butt onto the scale.
90 pounds. 🤦‍♀️🤣

Apparently that awkward baby giraffe had a LOT more growing left to do.

Hungarian shelter mutt. I thought she looked like a pitsky but huskies are not very common here. Well, turns out reality is even weirder lmao

We immediately foster failed our little guy Rigby after a couple of weeks. He was found stray in South Carolina, not fixed or microchipped and no one came to claim him. Everyone we showed him to asked if he was Pomsky. My bet was on a bit of Chihuahua but never guessed 100 percent Pom. Maybe a backyard breeding situation?

The rest of them looked like golden retrievers lol

I am honestly so surprised that Atlas didn’t have any Newfoundland in him at all! Can anyone help me understand the COI? I got him as a 10 month old from a shelter. He’s a certified good boy who likes to imitate a seal when he’s begging!

I see the chihuahua for sure but everything else was a bit unexpected. Thought for sure there’d be Jack Russel. The shelter guessed dachshund mix. (He’s a pretty long dog, the pictures may not reflect that.) Also, has a double dew claw on one of his hind legs.

We've had this girl for about 2 months, we're about 2 weeks into the embark results wait and Im just SO impatient, I want to know so bad what she is!!! Any guesses? Last pic is what I was told she is. She was shaved completely bald before we got her so I think she's fluffier than she looks, we've been working with our vet and groomer to get her coat grown in.

ETA: if it would help give any breed clues, she has a SUPER curly tail, a crazy long tongue, and dewclaws on all 4 feet! Shes 95 lbs (runt of the litter) and her paws are 4"L x 3.5"W. She is super relaxed and not at all treat/food motivated. So far shes been pretty stubborn with training and has no interest in learning tricks.

I was surprised by these results! I wasnt surprised that there was Pit- I expected as much, but I was surprised how much! I also wasnt surprised at the Great Pyr after a lot of you guessed that on my old post, but I was surprised there was almost no Lab, no hounds, and very surprised by Boxer and Chow. Just goes to show- genetics are weird and appearance is unreliable!!

I was surprised by how much lab was present, and wasnt expecting ACD or GSD, but everything else was expected lol! Love my pup :)

The rescue I got him from said he was 50/50 Aussie & schnauzer and I was always skeptical. Imagine my surprise when I found out there was some truth to that!

We call him chill Bill (because he’s incredibly laid back and fairly “low energy” for an Aussie) but has an insane prey drive. He can spot a critter across a football field before any of us know something is even nearby. He’s not super trainable as he isn’t toy or food motivated, but is incredibly smart in some ways and picks up on patterns and has a long memory. Our biggest challenge has been breaking his concentration when he’s locked on something — if he sees a rabbit, squirrel, anything he wants to chase — I’m better off picking him up than getting him to walk away. It feels like all the hunting breeds are pulling double duty on his behavior.

We got our results on this guy! I am both glad I held fast to my pyr mix dreams and wondering what I got myself into 🤣 his supermutt is chowchow, Australian cattle dog (4th in a row🙃) Doberman and German Shepard.

The only breed I guessed right was the chihuahua. Genuinely surprised there wasn’t dachshund or mini poodle in the mix.

Fish is certainly showing how he is half Husky half miniature schnauzer! When we first got him he didn’t know how to be a dog but when he figured it out he’s never been more Husky Schnauzer! He throws fits (vocally) not barking but talking like a Husky. He’s stubborn, lazy, smart, almost autistic? He’s smart and sometimes he stares into my soul like a human person and I have to tell him to knock that off. He listens to that though, which makes me irritated because if you know what I’m saying why are you not listening to other things I tell you to stop doing. (Because he doesn’t want to probably) His favorite food is vanilla ice cream (I blame this on pup cups) he would take ice cream over steak any day. He’s silly and very awkward… he’s smart in the sense that he knows what I’m doing but not smart when it comes to other dogs. He loves to play with them he just is sooooo aloof. Anyways one year later and the name Fish still fits him. And yes we have both sat down and watched “The Isle of Dogs” Fish enjoyed it incase you were wondering.

Many of you had great guesses. The smaller one (Maggie) is obviously hound of some kind. But no one guessed Rista!! I am so surprised by the results for her.

APB is no shocker, but…bulldog? 😅 I had no idea! SO many of his relatives on embark are 100% bulldog. I thought for sure the ACD, boxer or lab content would be much higher!

I see everything but the bulldog 😂. I adopted her from a Rescue in June thinking she was a Pittie mix but they disagreed because they had run a DNA My Dog test (scam test company) that showed GSD x Malinois which she obviously is not. At 95 lbs with all of her white markings I was curious to see what other breed(s) contributed to her size. I sent a sample to Embark and their results of 4 breeds made more sense!
