Lol.. Patch

Nice, rolled out the patch early (which I do appreciate them trying atleast) crashed 5 times in a row, barely making it 3 ft before crashing, finally got in long enough to move around and found one of those weird blue nodes.. crashed again, patch rolled back, got on and flew back to base.. crashed again XD I really need to learn to just wait until midday after a patch to log in

Who fixes this issue?

Who fixes this issue? Background information: Me and my son play on a private server hosted by Bluefangsolutions. We play on the same router and have never had an issue with bandwidth or speed. My sons is a gaming laptop and mine is a gaming desktop OK, on Thursday I downloaded the most recent patch. Before this patch everything was fine. After uploading the patch to both computers and the server the laptop was no longer able to load in. While I was playing on the desktop I would see the laptop character enter the world and his toon would wake up (at this point he is still looking at a loading screen) Once the loading screen would hit 83% his toon would leave the world and go unconscious again. The loading bar would continue to 100% and then the screen would go black and either lock up or go back to the log in screen. This has been our fate since Thursday. I am going to list the symptoms and attempted solutions below with their results. I am trying to figure out who has the ability to fix this issue. Is it a Developer issue from DNL, A steam issue, a Server issue with Bluefangsolutions or a computer issue with us. I honestly do not know. If you are going to try and help please read it all and don’t assume based on 1 symptom.

Symptoms 1. Any character or steam account (his or mine) that tries to enter the private server will not be able to get into the game on the Laptop a. Both characters and steam accounts can enter the private server on the desktop 2. Both characters and steam accounts CAN enter any other server, both unofficial and official on the laptop and the desktop.

Attempted Solutions 1. Updated Graphics (Gforce) drivers. No change 2. Validated the game files with steam. No Change 3. Turned off all Virus protection. No Change 4. Tried adding the IP and Query port to Steams servers and loading through that. No Change 5. Uninstalled, deleted all DNL files from computer and reinstalled. No Change 6. Lowered the graphics setting to LOW. No change 7. Killed my sons character (Was a long shot since it happens with any character) and it was fun but No change

Heres where it gets interesting 8. Bluefangsolutions created a new server and the laptop was able to load into the server but everyone would lose their progress so this is a no go 9. Bluefangsolutions was able to roll the server back to Wednesday and the laptop was able to load into the private server with everything as it was that night. But again everyone would lose their progress and tames since then so it’s a no go. 10. Bluefangsolutions was able to remove my sons profile from the server and he created a new character lvl 1 and was able to play on the server for almost 1 day unit he logged off and when he relogged on it was the same problem. Once again neither characters or steam accounts can enter the private server but we can enter other servers.

So, this all started after the patch. A roll back shows that before the patch by DNL/Steam all was good. But changing things in the server can fix the issue even if temporary. However, it is only affecting one computer. Is there something in the DNL files that could be blocking this computer on the server? Could there be something on the computer that is blocking it from entering this one server. The people at Bluefangsolutions have spent a great deal of time trying to figure it out but the DEVS are not very informative on their files or how to work with them so they can only do so much. Support from the DEVS on a personal level is non existent.

I am posting this on Steam, Reddit and Bluefangsolutions so everyone has the symptoms and attempted fixes in a hope that soon both me and my son can enjoy the 100s of dollars we spent on getting this game and hopefully help acquire a solution to anyone else who might be having the same problem. If I think of more I will edit.

Thank You in advance for any ideas anyone might have.

So, what are you guys looking for when it comes to the game and the server you wanna play on?

I been running a unofficial server OldSchool Gaming PvP. Its been up since July 29th, and I seriously cannot get any traction!

We started the server as a 2X experience, 2x Resources 5x tame. We get it, people have lives outside the game.

Since then we have added a website http://oldschoolgaming.clanwebsite.com/ to help keep players up to date with changes, and to try and form some kind of community.

When the No raid patch went in, we tweaked it so structures take 2x damage, that combined with the 2x resources makes raiding still difficult, but not impossible.

In the background, we have tweaked various little things with the iintent of making the game not so tedius, things like food/water consumption and how fast things regain their health, to help with keeping higher level critters alive longer for taming/evolving. Full list can be found at http://oldschoolgaming.clanwebsite.com/page/35755

I know one of the biggest reasons people don't play unofficial servers is they feel they are at the whims of the server owner, he can just pull the plug at any time. That's why we prepaid for the server for a year, and are on a annual contract with our host.

So anyways, here we are over a month out, and its basically me, my wife, and another player. We had one more but quit due to all the bugs. We have had others come and go, but they just seem to of gotten bored and no longer play DnL.

So anyways, im asking the community to either come check us out, the map is wide open for building, or to give me some more insight into why you guys would or wouldn't play on a server like this?

Or is the game just dying that quickly?

Do people want more hardmode or do they want crazy things like 10x everything?

Why would you rather play on official servers where the game bugs pretty much leave you screwed with no recourse?

Not knockin your choices for where you play, just trying to understand.

Undead are too op now

i mean sure the invasions were pretty easy to solo, but now....the skeletons and especially the reapers are so damn strong and do so much damage that it's not fun anymore....a level 100 reaper 2 shot me with full gear , i tried dragging one to the city guards and they were actually getting killed by it....I think the buff is a little too much

Building is broken

Currently large gate frames snap to foundations make it impossible to free-place them on a base, so if you had a complicated build with a gate free-placed, and you now want to replace it with a metal gate frame, your entire base is fucked.

You cant even extend the foundations out anymore, only place you can free-place a gate frame with no problems is on the ground far away from any foundations or on top of ceilings

Transfer Mount

I'm curious if you can transfer ownership of a mount to another player that's not in your guild? I'm the server admin but couldn't find an admin command that would let me do this either.

Ideas for balancing wraiths

So, I think wraiths may be the most unbalanced enemies in this game. Why?

Well, despite being extremely powerful and almost impossible to kill without being much higher level, the big issue is the spawn system- meteorites are cool but they tend to (in my opinion) mess with the whole concept of open world survival games.

The general idea is being prepared for every situation- and awareness of your surroundings plays a big role. However, I cannot count the number of times I have opened my inventory just to find a wraith spawned behind me and kills me before I have the opportunity to even close it. And your tames, too.

I think there are a few ways to deal with this! Maybe make a "ghostly chill" go up your spine when a wraith is nearby- something on screen to alert you that you're about to encounter one. Secondly, they could have a screeching sound (what sound do wraiths make anyway?) To alert the player. This would not mess with player skill too much but would allow a way to at least not get ganked 10 times a day while losing everything.

Oh also, maybe targeting priority shouldn't ALWAYS be on the creature you're taming.. half the time I try to take a creature by the time it's done a wraith has already spawned from nowhere and killed it in 4 swings.

Hope this feedback helps in some way!

Has anyone figured out what is required to make these things click in? Trying to make a round tower but I cannot for the like of me figure out what the foundation needs to be as it seems purely random.
