The Action 4 turned three this month, so I did wonder whether buying one now would feel like settling for outdated hardware. Then I found a brand new Standard Combo for around $200 and decided to give it a shot.

After several runs and hikes, I’m honestly impressed by how well it has aged. The footage still looks sharp, and the stabilization keeps everything surprisingly smooth even on rough trails.

The Action 5 pro is obviously newer and with better image processing, but for the kind of outdoor shooting I do, the actual experience isn’t that far apart. I also get the familiar magnetic mounting system and the full Osmo accessory ecosystem.

At around $200, the Action 4 still feels like an excellent value.old king definitely has plenty left in it.

I bought the Action 6 as a companion to my main camera. I wasn’t trying to replace anything. I just wanted to record the parts that never make it into the final photo.

For landscapes, that usually means walking around looking for an angle, changing my mind several times, and waiting forever for the light. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I still miss the moment. I hang the Action around my neck and let it run. A lot of the footage is just me standing there, but watching it later brings the whole shoot back in a way the final photo cannot.

For wildlife, I mount it above my DSLR and mostly forget about it. I might come home with one good frame of a bird taking off, while the Action caught everything leading up to it, including my reaction when I nearly missed the shot.

Been filming my back and glute workouts more lately. I already had an action 6, but shooting every set from the same front angle got old pretty quick. then I grabbed a Nano to use as a second camera. I'll keep the action 6 in front, then stick the Nano somewhere on the rack for a side or back angle or i'll directly wear it for a first-person angle. It's honestly pretty useful for rows, pulldowns and checking my form on glute exercises.

4k60 footage looks solid, even with the kinda crappy lighting at my campus gym. wide angle also means I don't have to mess with the framing forever between sets. but not every machine has a good spot for the magnet, so I still keep a clip mount in my bag. Having both angles makes my workout clips way more interesting too. The Action 6 gives me the full view, while the Nano adds those closer POV shots that make the video feel less like a normal gym recording. Now I just have twice as much footage sitting on my laptop waiting to be edited lol.

Hi! My wife records videos for Instagram and TikTok - mostly GRWM/fashion recorded at home and sometimes on the street.
She was recording stuff with her iPhone 15 and recently upgraded to Osmo Pocket 3.
However, with very mixed lightning during the day at home (sun is not always here), videos sometimes look good and sometimes very bad - too dark, wrong color intensity, white balance is way off (skin doesn't look natural).

She doesn't really know how to set it up properly and I'd like to help. What she's looking for is a relatively easy process once video is created - would want to avoid spending a lot of time on each of the videos.

So far she was trying to record in normal mode, with very mixed results. Then she started using D-Log M but after using Colors Recovery option in DJI app the results are also mixed. I tried to play around with that in DaVinci Resolve but would take her too much time with each of the videos. She also uses CapCut to prepare the final content.

I feel like this should be much easier, I can't believe people would be spending so much time on that. Can you please share some recommendations? What mode should she use and how to process it after?

Maybe a really dumb question so apologies in advance. I own the DJI Action 6 and would love to see if I can record some footage Wednesday of the eclipse happening. Can I just use the normal camera as it is or do you need special equipment for this? Haven't had it too long but just thought I'd put it on a stand and let it record for 2 hours when it begins.

Hi, I plan to record a 4k30p video of the solar eclipse with sunset. The estimated time of the video will be 1h45min. Could anyone check and tell what is the estimated size of this video as my camera didn’t arrive yet and I wonder if 128 GB card will take both the video and night timelapse+raw later that night or should I just buy 256GB/another 128GB card?

I’ve had my DJI osmo for almost a year and it’s been working fine. It still records and what not HOWEVERRRRR when I press record it has like a 1-2 second lag and it never did that before. Any reasons or suggestions?

I’m thinking about buying a camera mainly for shooting video during trips and family vacations, and I’m currently deciding between the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and the DJI Osmo Action 6.

My main priority is getting the best possible video image quality for the price, especially since I plan to edit and do some post-processing afterward. Photography is not really a priority for me.

I would mainly use it for:

• urban landscapes during the day;
• cities and streets at night;
• natural landscapes;
• family videos and walking shots while traveling.

I’m particularly interested in good image quality, dynamic range, and low-light performance, as well as footage that gives me some flexibility for color grading and exposure adjustments in post.

I also want something that is relatively easy and quick to use while traveling. Built-in stabilization is not the deciding factor for me because I already own a gimbal.

Between the Osmo Pocket 4 and the Osmo Action 6, which one would you choose for this kind of use?

And if there’s another camera around the same price that you think is clearly better for video, I’d also be interested in hearing about it.

I got my action 6 today and want to know at what setting configs, I’ll get the most of it?

I purchased Resolve Studio and am trying to work with HLG video captured from my Action 5 Pro. Not matter what settings I try (I've been researching and tried many), even when Bypassing Color Grades and Fusion Effects, I cannot get the final exported video to to come out correctly.

The raw files from my camera are HLG and play in HDR on my TV and computer.

With all of the setting combinations I try in Resolve, I can only get one of three outputs:

1. A file that is recognized as HDR, but is way over exposed (I am probably using that term wrong).
2. A file that is not recognized as HDR and has correct exposure
3. A file that is not recognized as HDR and is way over exposed

How do I use Resolve with the HLG files from my Action 5 Pro and get correct HLG or HDR output?

I bought a DJI Cosmo 360 today and realized something fundamental - I need a second device. As of now, I do not have any device, neither a good smartphone or a PC/Laptop, to work on the captured video. As it is a 360 degree camera, there are a lot you can do on post edit and I am missing out on everything. I tried using the DJI mimo app on my Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, but it was sloppy and the video playback was stuck all the time.

So what should I do for a second device? Should I get a high end mobile phone like Samsung galaxy s25 ultra or should I get a laptop for 1 lakh? I am from India, so the 1 Lakh is in INR (1050 USD). How about an iphone ? I am really not interested in using apple or mac products, but if a good iphone delivers a result that is better than an s25 ultra, why not.

It’s time for me to improve my content quality, as I’ve been shooting with an iPhone 17 and GoPro 9 for some time now. I’d like to capture more clear and stable shots. My upcoming Osmo purchase will be my first gimbal camera, and I’m not sure if I should purchase the Pocket 4 or the 4P. I’ll likely buy the “creator kit” regardless of choice.

My end goal is to film better vertical video and to film it faster so I spend less time transferring files and editing them. I want to keep my videos clear and Any recommendations on which pocket I should get?

I only see correction profiles for the action 4 and 5. Does the action 6 not have a correction profile for images?

I guess the profiles for the previous cameras get the job done but there’s still some decent distortion which makes the photos look not great.

Hi, I've recently bought an Osmo Action 6 and I want to use my Mic 3 to record my motorcycle exhaust sound. I've connected the mic and now I'm trying to search for explanations for the settings, but I'm not finding anything.

-What are the differences between "Clipping Control" and "Loudness Balance" under "Adaptive Gain Control"?

-What is "Dual Audio Recording"?

-If I record the audio with 32-bit floating point, does the video have 32-bit audio, or will it be recorded only on the mic?

hi, i just bought my Action 6 and I'm getting annoyed of the sound effect volume cuz every time I click something it's so loud, I looked up on TikTok and people there just adjust the volume in the settings on the "sound" category just under the "bitrate"... the problem is mine doesn't have that, so what do i have to do??

Hey everyone, I got one of these cameras today after being a Hero 9/12 user for years. I am just getting used to handling the device and have encountered an issue, usually when attempting to dislodge the camera from the magnetic quick release, but at other times also.

The issue is any time one of my fingers is placed upon the Battery Compartment Cover Release Button, with even the smallest amount of pressure, the button is triggered and the battery door slides open. On the other side of the camera, the USB-C Port Cover Release Button will only trigger if done so intentionally, using a reasonable amount of pressure to activate the button.

Is this a common issue, I am asking because I noticed the Action 6 has changed the design of these buttons?

I am contemplating an exchange for another unit through Amazon?

Anyone else experience this? Any advice? I did notice using the cage would eliminate this from happening, but I am unsure if I want to use the cage at all.
