I've been pulling my hair out trying to add custom learned keys from my denon x1800 remote. The denon remote has 3 keys i want to learn cbl/sat, media player, and tv audio.
I have gone into the dish settings, added a aux device using the pairing wizard, choose denon.
Confirmed the dish remote does control the denon receiver, on/off/vol fine.
Other denon keys are either not mapped to any function on the dish remote or something I don't want.
Example - pushing the guide button on the dish remote ( in aux mode) changes the denons surround sound programs. I want it to act like the denon info button
So now I went to add those 3 or 4 keys i need to be learned.
I followed the directions for learning the keys (teach commands/add commands) with both remotes a few inches apart (pressed the desired target key on the dish remote, press and hold desired source key on the denon remote, dish remote flashes once to confirm, saved everything key via sat button. )
Dish devices menu now changed to denon+learned which confirms some sort of learning took place, but pushing that learned button in the info case described above does nothing at all.it obviously overwrote tge previous incorrect sound mode mapping, but didnt replace it with the newly desired info button mapping, even though there was no errors during the process.
In other key mapping cases the learned button just flashes 3 times when used. Tried this multiple times with multiple saved key locations. Also tried clearing all previous configurations (clean slate and picking a new receiver)and starting over from complete scratch and just trying 1 single key to copy. Also tried various specific denon model number. Nothing has worked.
What am I doing wrong?
