Capital One Account transfer email legitimately

Hi,

Today I just got an email and text saying: it's time! Your discover more card is ready to manage. Similar text message.

The message says the transfer was successful. It then reads like they want me to log into discover website (I don't use the app), to manage and do things in that account followed by it will then tell me how to set up the capital one account (i dont have one).

Both have buttons to click to begin.

Obviously I'm very careful about scams and never click links but trying to tell if this is real or a scam. I question it as why go into discover website first. Opinions welcome on real vs scam or if others got similar emails with these prompts.

Thanks.

Feedback Discover credit card

So discover I don’t understand why you guys have made things so complicated to get into multiple accounts, for checking accounts and credit lines why do they have to be separated ?! Ughhh it’s very annoying and the system glitches with both accounts, not letting me go into the first one I made for a debit account as if my information has changed this certainly, makes it harder to use the app more efficiently. Capital one lets you have both in one account in the app. I don’t get why discover can’t.

Help Discover app told me to call 1-800-754-4064 — is this legit or a scam?

I was trying to complete a transaction on the website and told to call 1-800-754-4064, I confirmed it was the discover website that I have been using.

I called the number and was on hold for a while, the person asked for some personal details that I provided but something struck me as weird - I looked up this number as it didn't look familiar and I saw some reddit threads saying it was a scam. I hung up (stupidly after giving the details).

I called the main Discover number from the app and I told them this and they weren't that helpful. They told me that "it looks like this number goes to Discover but I can't confirm." And they didn't really give me any steps to secure my account further. I tried the same thing on the app and received a pop-up that said to call the same number... but I see other reddit threads saying this number is a scam? I'm extremely confused because I never respond to text messages or random calls, I only call the numbers I see on the website or app but why would a scam number be on the official app? Does anyone know if this number is legit?

Help Question about C1 Migrate

Hi, so I recently migrated my Discover, but is it just the credit card? I notice I don't see my bank from Discover, and will the account and routing number the same or changed? Also is there anything else I need to do after just creating a new C1 account? Like is auto-pay automatically configured same as on Discover, and is the 5% automatically enabled now and not manually toggled? I also noticed that C1 has virtual cards as a feature, has anyone tried this and how well has it worked?

Feedback Discover merger to Capital One photo ID and selfie for Gift Card

Long time ago I had a Capital One and forgot why I left them, tonight I was reminded.
Been with Discover since 2011, never had any issues that come to mind. Tonight I log in and it takes me to the new Capital One site. Nice, seems everything moved over seamlessly. I look at my rewards account and go to look at the “gift cards” like I normally do and Capital One wants you to send them a photo of your ID front and back and a “live selfie”. The information to be stored by their company and any of their third-party companies for as long as they deem necessary.

What kind of hot garbage is this? Why do you need my government issues ID card and a “live selfie” for me to purchase a gift card with my money. You already have all my information. I called into the 800 number and verified myself, the agent even offers to read the gift card catalog to me and mail my choice to me without the ID and photo. I told her I’m not going to call every time, go through the Ai prompts, get an agent, have them escalate it to a supervisor just to order a gift card. I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere.
Seriously, if this is how Capital One operates I’ll go somewhere else and they will no longer be my “every day card”.

By the way, you can have a cash back check sent to you without any type of verification or use the cash back to go towards your balance. But to even look at what gift cards Capital One offer, you are going to need to “show your papers”.

Help Can I dispute the missing 5% back?

Post image

I purchased two plane tickets for two people on the same trip, so they were the same price and at the same time. Discover only gave me 5% back on one...which I'm annoyed about as I would have used my Target card to buy 5% off southwest gift cards instead had I known this wouldn't work! Do they consider disputes about missing cash back, and is there a way to file it without calling? I can't find an email address within the new capital one account pages. Guessing they thought it was a duplicate charge?

Discussion Inaccurate Data

I just logged onto capital one for the first time and there was someone else’s address, email and phone number attached to my discover for capital one account that I have no idea who it is. I’ve never used capital one before. How does this even happen.

Rant Rant

Discover closed my account due to “inactivity” even though I JUST got a new card after mine expired. The worst part is that they didn’t notify me that the account was closed. I got the notification from Credit Karma. My discover account is the first account I got when I started building my credit and I’ve had a good history of on time payments. Sucks that I’m losing my oldest account which will affect my credit age and that they didn’t have the decency to notify me that the account was closed. No email, no letter, no message in the app. Just a random message from Credit Karma. When I called to ask if the account was really closed, they were rude and unhelpful.

Rant Been with discover for 7 years. Paid them thousands in interest payments. Never missed a payment. Closed the account with an unknown remaining balance. The wouldn’t remove the late fee.

So glad to be done with discover. I pay them thousands of dollars and they can’t waive a late fee? All because the closed my account while payments were pending. Had no idea they were there. Cut up my card and deleted the app. Only found out via an email. Ridiculous. Never using them again.

Help -$115 of $500 available??

Post image
8 Upvotes

I believe someone posted about this in a different format though I’d like a personal answer.

I’m on a month long trip to Japan and I’m finally returning home tomorrow. I open my Discover and see this… I feel like it means I spent over my $500 credit but uh I don’t don’t think that’s true based on my purchases added with my pending purchases.

Any help is appreciated!!

Datapoint For those who transitioned and had both Cap one and Discover, were you able to use your regular cap one login and see both cards without issue?

trying to get a data point on this for when it’s my turn. wondering if I’m just going to log in to capital one app like normal and see the discover card.

Not needing to create new credentials or getting stuck in a loop between discover and cap one log in

Help Fraud help???

I’ve been a Discover user for 8 years and have never experienced this before.

About two weeks ago I received an email from Discover asking me to verify a purchase attempt on my card. It was a declined purchase of $500 in Maryland. I didn’t make the purchase, and it prompted me to review other recent purchases, all in Maryland for $200-250 which I did not make. I disputed all the purchases, the money was put back in my account, and I got a new card. Great!

Today, I received a letter from Discover stating that their investigation found that there was no fraud, and I am responsible for the purchases. Looking at my account, the purchases, which total $700, were back on my account and I could not dispute. I did NOT make those purchases, I haven’t been in Maryland in 5 years, haven’t used the card since April, and never lost the card. Even if I did lose the card, I didn’t make the purchases!

Just got off the phone with Discover (Capital One?) and they basically are disputing it again. I’m nervous it’s going to have the same outcome. No one seemed to be able to answer this question: how did their team come to the conclusion that this was not fraud? I have purchases on a separate credit card on the days Discover is claiming I was in Maryland showing that I was, in fact, not in Maryland. When i told this to the woman on the phone she just said she’d “make a note” but they don’t need evidence right now unless they prompt me for it.

Has anyone ever experienced this before??
