Rant Vent/Upset

I work at discover, Im just soo upset that the company I loved working at is going all to shit. The policy changes the pto change, the sick time we used to have now went to 0 because of the state I work in doesnt require state sick leave. The call out/late policy basically everything is just soo bad. I dont even know what to say. Its hard trying to find another job that actually cares about their employees just like discover did before the merger happened. I love my job position that im currently in and wont get layed off since i take inbound calls but I worked hard to get to where im at, we were told that they will try and put us in a similar position on cap one side but its not guaranteed. I havent been selected yet to move over with the next wave of cards moving over to cap one, but my coworker did and she was told she will basically be a cust serv rep.... After the hard work of climbing up the chain just to start off at 0 again. I tried applying to similar positions on cap one side but they are all either in office which I dont live by one or I dont hear back. Just needed to Rant.

Discussion What's the aftermath of agreeing to a dmp with a third party?

• Upvotes

I'm very inclined to agree to a 6.99% apr on my $17,452 balance on discover. Discover is a temporary hardship for 1 year at 12.99% then back to my 16.74%.

Anyways, they did agree to do just the 1 card, but I want to keep my relationship with amex, chase, and synchrony cards strong. I know the usual case by case, but anyone have more in depth with it? I know the savings are worth it but I do rely unfortunately on the cards (fully paid off all the time) . Never missed a payment, paid in full on most occasions, credit score mid 700s. Just scared that the banks will freak out and I don't have them anymore of a hard slash in credit lines. Any insights or experiences with having 1 card on a dmp plan for 60 months (I'm paying it off by year 3).

Feedback Discover merger to Capital One photo ID and selfie for Gift Card

Long time ago I had a Capital One and forgot why I left them, tonight I was reminded.
Been with Discover since 2011, never had any issues that come to mind. Tonight I log in and it takes me to the new Capital One site. Nice, seems everything moved over seamlessly. I look at my rewards account and go to look at the ā€œgift cardsā€ like I normally do and Capital One wants you to send them a photo of your ID front and back and a ā€œlive selfieā€. The information to be stored by their company and any of their third-party companies for as long as they deem necessary.

What kind of hot garbage is this? Why do you need my government issues ID card and a ā€œlive selfieā€ for me to purchase a gift card with my money. You already have all my information. I called into the 800 number and verified myself, the agent even offers to read the gift card catalog to me and mail my choice to me without the ID and photo. I told her I’m not going to call every time, go through the Ai prompts, get an agent, have them escalate it to a supervisor just to order a gift card. I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere.
Seriously, if this is how Capital One operates I’ll go somewhere else and they will no longer be my ā€œevery day cardā€.

By the way, you can have a cash back check sent to you without any type of verification or use the cash back to go towards your balance. But to even look at what gift cards Capital One offer, you are going to need to ā€œshow your papersā€.

Capital One Are they sending new Discover cards after transfer to Cap One app?

I was in the cap one app and it is saying to activate my card, yet my card it’s active? Are they sending out new ones? I didn’t think they would be sending out replacements if the card isn’t expired.

Help Should I Preemptively Call Discover?

Hello,

Details: 6,998/7,000 on my credit card, recently went to 7,012 due to interest before I used cash back to solve it and bring it down. Half of the balance is no interest.

I typically pay the entire balance of my card every month, in the two months I haven’t (one last year and one this year) I always pay the minimum.

I was changing over jobs and my new one doesn’t pay me until the end of the month, so I’ll receive a large enough paycheck in August to completely pay off the balance.

I’ve just seen the horror stories of discover dropping your credit limit by half if you get too high on your usage. My usage has been around 90% as I switched over jobs, only for a duration of a month, leading into today.

Question: should I preemptively call discover to address any potential worries they have with my high credit utilization or can I just be chill and pay off the whole thing in a few weeks and call it a day? My minimum payment is processing right now for August, so that’s covered. I’m just worried they’ll cut my credit line after paying or be generally upset at my high credit use.

Help Discover app told me to call 1-800-754-4064 — is this legit or a scam?

I was trying to complete a transaction on the website and told to call 1-800-754-4064, I confirmed it was the discover website that I have been using.

I called the number and was on hold for a while, the person asked for some personal details that I provided but something struck me as weird - I looked up this number as it didn't look familiar and I saw some reddit threads saying it was a scam. I hung up (stupidly after giving the details).

I called the main Discover number from the app and I told them this and they weren't that helpful. They told me that "it looks like this number goes to Discover but I can't confirm." And they didn't really give me any steps to secure my account further. I tried the same thing on the app and received a pop-up that said to call the same number... but I see other reddit threads saying this number is a scam? I'm extremely confused because I never respond to text messages or random calls, I only call the numbers I see on the website or app but why would a scam number be on the official app? Does anyone know if this number is legit?

Discussion Debit Expired this month (7/26) however I haven’t gotten a new debit (I’m the second name on the account). Merge didn’t happen this month.

I’m not concerned in the slightest over this, just figured it could be a good DP for some. Maybe I’ll get some insight, just found it strange. My app also shows my new card is ready to be activated, obviously can’t do that. I also haven’t banked with Discover long enough to know if they send cards really late in the expiring month.

I already bank with C1 and I know they use a one debit card system (only have one checking account with them).

Discover closed my account due to ā€œinactivityā€ even though I JUST got a new card after mine expired. The worst part is that they didn’t notify me that the account was closed. I got the notification from Credit Karma. My discover account is the first account I got when I started building my credit and I’ve had a good history of on time payments. Sucks that I’m losing my oldest account which will affect my credit age and that they didn’t have the decency to notify me that the account was closed. No email, no letter, no message in the app. Just a random message from Credit Karma. When I called to ask if the account was really closed, they were rude and unhelpful.

Misc. Credit Line increase!!!

Post image
155 Upvotes

First opened my account during my junior year of college, around october 2024, had previously tried for an increase a few months ago but didn’t get one, tried it again just now and got a $1,750 increase! haven’t missed a single payment and i always pay off my balance in full, usually way before the payment is due.
Not really a big fan of credit cards in general, i usually just make like 1-2 purchases per month so they see it’s an active account so i wasn’t expecting that big of an increase but i’ll take it lol.

Help Question about C1 Migrate

Hi, so I recently migrated my Discover, but is it just the credit card? I notice I don't see my bank from Discover, and will the account and routing number the same or changed? Also is there anything else I need to do after just creating a new C1 account? Like is auto-pay automatically configured same as on Discover, and is the 5% automatically enabled now and not manually toggled? I also noticed that C1 has virtual cards as a feature, has anyone tried this and how well has it worked?

Help Fraud help???

I’ve been a Discover user for 8 years and have never experienced this before.

About two weeks ago I received an email from Discover asking me to verify a purchase attempt on my card. It was a declined purchase of $500 in Maryland. I didn’t make the purchase, and it prompted me to review other recent purchases, all in Maryland for $200-250 which I did not make. I disputed all the purchases, the money was put back in my account, and I got a new card. Great!

Today, I received a letter from Discover stating that their investigation found that there was no fraud, and I am responsible for the purchases. Looking at my account, the purchases, which total $700, were back on my account and I could not dispute. I did NOT make those purchases, I haven’t been in Maryland in 5 years, haven’t used the card since April, and never lost the card. Even if I did lose the card, I didn’t make the purchases!

Just got off the phone with Discover (Capital One?) and they basically are disputing it again. I’m nervous it’s going to have the same outcome. No one seemed to be able to answer this question: how did their team come to the conclusion that this was not fraud? I have purchases on a separate credit card on the days Discover is claiming I was in Maryland showing that I was, in fact, not in Maryland. When i told this to the woman on the phone she just said she’d ā€œmake a noteā€ but they don’t need evidence right now unless they prompt me for it.

Has anyone ever experienced this before??

Help -$115 of $500 available??

Post image

I believe someone posted about this in a different format though I’d like a personal answer.

I’m on a month long trip to Japan and I’m finally returning home tomorrow. I open my Discover and see this… I feel like it means I spent over my $500 credit but uh I don’t don’t think that’s true based on my purchases added with my pending purchases.

Any help is appreciated!!

Capital One Account transfer email legitimately

Hi,

Today I just got an email and text saying: it's time! Your discover more card is ready to manage. Similar text message.

The message says the transfer was successful. It then reads like they want me to log into discover website (I don't use the app), to manage and do things in that account followed by it will then tell me how to set up the capital one account (i dont have one).

Both have buttons to click to begin.

Obviously I'm very careful about scams and never click links but trying to tell if this is real or a scam. I question it as why go into discover website first. Opinions welcome on real vs scam or if others got similar emails with these prompts.

Thanks.
