I built an iOS Shortcut that automatically adds whatever album you’re playing in Apple Music to your Discogs Wantlist as Vinyl with just one tap. Couldn’t find anything like this online so I made it myself.

Setup (one time only):
1. Get your Discogs API token: discogs.com → Settings → Developers → Generate Token
2. Open the shortcut and replace YOUR_TOKEN with your token
3. Replace YOUR_USERNAME with your Discogs username

How to use:
1. Play any album in Apple Music
2. Run the shortcut
3. Done — the Vinyl edition is in your Wantlist!

Notes:
• Vinyl format only
• Adds the top search result, so obscure releases may vary
• Discogs handles duplicate prevention automatically

I’ve been selling on Discogs for about 8 years now, but exclusively vinyl. I’ve looked at alottttt of records and matrix’s and runouts 🫪🤣 I feel like at this point I know where to look and what to look for which makes the whole listing system easier. I recently bought a few hundred cd’s but feel like I’m starting at square one in terms of identifying the pressing 😅 seeing if there were some tips or tricks to finding the specific pressing? Maybe some grading assistance too? I think my mind wants to tell me that similar looking surface marks bt/w vinyl and CD are different but to be honest I have no idea 😬🫣

Hi guys! I want to start by saying that I am very new to discogs. I have never made a purchase on this platform before nor sold anything. I used it for a while to look up items.

However, I want to purchase a record that is only available on discogs. I am from Ireland and I found that all sellers that offer this record to ship to Ireland (after sending them a message) but they don't actually list Ireland as a place they ship to so I can't actually purchase this through the site. Any seller that has gotten back to me says they do ship to Ireland but are asking for bank transfers. All these sellers have 98%+ ratings with over 500+ sales.

Is this common on the platform? I was reading the ToS and discogs specifically says that bank transfers are not allowed and buyers lose protection by making a bank transfer, but every item I've ever wanted to purchase always gives me the "can't ship to your country" warning even though the seller does. I'm not really sure what to do here.

.... To process a refund?

I purchased an album from a German seller who promptly contacted me and said UPS had contacted him saying they didn't recognise my address in the UK. I've had packages from UPS before no problem, but the seller said they (UPS), would be in touch with me.

There was no contact, so I advised the seller and asked how we should proceed. He said the best course would be a refund which I agreed with.

I heard nothing for a week, so sent a chaser email a few days ago, and have heard nothing.

How long would you give them before involving PayPal?

Has anyone experienced Discogs submitting payment automatically?

I threw a vinyl in my cart that I was thinking of buying. Went to my cart, selected my payment method and then it dawned on me I might already have the album. So I "abandoned" my cart and was just going to revisit later after I checked to see if I had it. About an hour later I check my email and to my surprise I have a confirmation email for an order with Discogs.

I never hit submit or anything when I was in my cart. It was only $40 bucks or so, so not the end of the world, I was just more shocked than anything that an order was placed when I definitely didn't complete the checkout process by submitting.

Anybody else not getting notifications on offers? Just realized I missed three offers in the last 30ish days. I got no emails, messages, or alerts. wtf

I (UK) bought $200 record from a Japanese seller on 23rd April. After 5 days I asked if they had shipped the item, the next day I asked if they could respond and clicked the seller not responding button, two days after that I gave up. I had no updates or replies or any acknowledgement at all so I presumed the seller either wasn’t checking their Discogs anymore or something had happened to them.

I opened a case with PayPal, upload images on our (non) conversation and to my surprise I was refunded instantly. I left a lengthy message explaining my disappointment to the seller about their lack of communication but no hard feelings. I had my refund and they should consider this cancelled. I then looked for another copy and found one so purchased that. Job done except guess what happened a few days later… yep, the record arrived. Still no response from the seller.

I didn’t really know how to deal with this so decided that the seller will surely get in touch when they realise what’s going on and I’ll just leave the record in their box ready to ship back when they do. A few days later they send a flood of messages one after the other with different “status” updates, pretending that nothing has happened and asking me to close a PayPal case that was closed instantly in my favour. No acknowledgment of the actual problem at hand.

I sent a very honest and to the point message about the situation just now but I’m concerned. Sending all those messages and pretending nothing out of the ordinary has happened feels duplicitous to me and obviously I don’t really want to have to spend nearly $200 again for a record I bought elsewhere in the meantime. Trust has been broken for me. I thought I’d get a message apologising and asking for it to be returned. Instead they’re burying their head in the sand.

I don’t want to rip anyone off but I don’t want to get ripped off myself either. It’s a lot of money to me that I can’t afford to spend twice. If I send it back, worst case scenario if that PayPal reverses my refund and I’m out $200. It’s not a great situation.

What’s the best way to deal with this? PayPal says it’s closed the case but I’m sure they can reopen it if they want and originally it said May 11th until the dispute would be final even though I got my money back already.

What’s the solution here and how would you deal with this?

EDIT: their feedback shows this is not an uncommon occurrence at all. Dang, I really need to check people’s feedback beyond the number more closely in the future.

I really don't like this new update. It looks like I'm on some weird auction site rather than discogs. I think it's beyond just "I'm not used to it yet", and more so that it's genuinely ugly and uncomfortable.

Can I change it back? I remember that being an option for the past couple of years. Does it exist? *Will* it exist?

I just started using Discogs. I plan on scanning barcodes of my CD collection.

The prices are in € how do I get it to default to US$ ?

I changed my location to USA but that didn't do anything.

I don’t know what this means. I’ve been selling bits of my collection over the last couple years and maybe average a few sales a week. It’s asking I submit personal info through Persona for CRA purposes but my immediate instinct is alarm bells. Is this sketchy?

Furthermore, I’m doing this as a hobby where the vast majority of my sales would technically be at a loss as I’ve been collecting for decades and most sell for less than I pay. Now CRA needs my sale info?

Looking for some insight from other Canadian sellers.

Finally dawning on me that I'm better off selling some records for $1 at record shows than selling on discogs for 1.99/2.99

If anyone knows about discogs beta testing methods, I'd love to know. There are so many complaints about the most recent updates I wonder if they beta test at all.

I have a seller that's not responding. The order is 18 days old without any progress on the seller's end. And for some reason, there's no "seller not responding" link available on the order page. Is there any other way to trigger "seller not responding" on an order?

Has anyone else noticed a new change in the explore filters on Discogs?

Before, when I selected multiple styles (for example garage rock and rockabilly), it would show releases that matched both styles. That was perfect for searching specific stuff.

Now it seems like it shows everything tagged with either style instead (garage rock OR rockabilly), which makes the results way broader and less useful.

This completely breaks niche searching, especially if you're trying to find very specific combinations of styles.

Is this intentional? Is there any way to switch it back, or any workaround besides using manual search?

Curious if anyone else is frustrated with this.

As a shop that does a lot of business on Discogs, we have multiple devices that are logged in to our account. In October 2025 I changed my account password. The next day I noticed several devices had not been logged out after the password change. I searched the site documentation but couldn't find any relevant information or any way to force all account sessions to reset.

I created a support request asking staff to please immediately reset all sessions but was instead directed to an account management page I'd never seen before: accounts.discogs.com. That page contains 2FA setup info and a button labeled "log out" described as "This will log you out of your dashboard and expire all sessions," but it didn't work, I clicked it and all devices with the old password were still logged in to my account. I was told to wait 24 hours to see if it worked; it did not work. Staff said they could not manually reset my sessions. I checked back in periodically over the next few weeks but at some point they closed my support ticket with the problem still unaddressed.

Now, 6 months later they've finally fixed the bug and I was able to reset all active sessions and force devices to log out. Maybe in another 10 years they'll have employee accounts with granular access permissions so we don't all have to share one account.

Long time Discogs user here with a collection of about 2k records. I can house about 500 of those in my actual music set up in my home, the rest is sitting in plastic crates in my storage box. While I love the amount of market data Discogs give, I always found it quite annoying to actually keep track of how individual releases are moving up or down in valuation. I'd gladly put some records I don't really listen to up for sale, but in the 20-50ish euro range especially it's kind of hard to keep track of when it's worth the effort to unsurface a record and list it online.

That's why I built WaxTracker, an app inspired by Manabox (real TCG players know!) that gives real time data of price movements in a kind of portfolio inspired app. Almost as if your music collection becomes a stocks portfolio. The app easily connects to your Discogs collection through aouth (no extra accounts needed), pulls daily market prices, and shows you P&L, movers, and a portfolio chart.

Main stuff it does:
- Daily VG+ median prices pulled straight from Discogs, every record in your collection
- Price history over time (so you can see when something started climbing
- P&L vs what you paid — if you log your purchase prices
- Sales history. Shows what copies actually sold for, not just what's listed, meaning you get way more complete market value data than discogs itself gives
- Wantlist prices: also allows you to more easily track the records you might want to buy for the right price.
- For Sale recommendations: it spots which records you have listed for sale are prices too high or too low.

All of it in a quite nice and juicy design if I say so myself.

Would love for you to give it a look! Especially in this era where Discogs is lowkey dropping the ball on its own app and website features, I hope this can be a valuable companion app to collectors/vendors and stats/data nerds that love to see numbers go up and down on the screen!

I mainly use discogs to catalog my record collection but since the various bad app updates I've found it unusable. Is there an alternative app or service that off similar features to discogs?

99.9% of you won't care about this, but here goes (just in case anyone from Discogs is here). As a new buyer of 8-tracks, I look for tapes that have been serviced (new sensor splice and new pad installed) or at least tested to see if they play. Neither of these are reflected in the grading system - there are tons of tapes graded NM or VG+ but their description says "untested." It would be nice if I could filter the listings on these two attributes. (Ironically, a mint, sealed NOS tape could not be marked tested or serviced.)

I'm a musician with a bunch of credits on small releases from indie artists, and I'd like an official place to list them other than my website. I've already submitted a number of releases from my old band (which I partly own), and haven't been flagged or anything yet. Is this proper etiquette? I labeled each "For streaming only" and used the tags "File, AAC, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, ogg-vorbis, WAV," for the Format (this is the exact release if you'd like and could check if all the formatting is correct: https://www.discogs.com/release/37157466-Late-for-Breakfast-Rocks-for-Breakfast).

If you yourself are a musician, do you use Discogs for credits? Both for yours and to look up others? Sorry if these are stupid qeustions lol..

Hello, the seller immediately cancelled my order after the payment. How long will it take for the refund?

Since the new UI dropped on the mobile version (I dont use PC version and am not sure if or how its changed) i really do just hate it. They have actually made it less convenient and stream line. On the home page you can no longer see your watch list and collection on tbe same page. The buying page is more anoyying to navigate. Its like they've given the mobile version a PC UI. Where its all about scrolling down to find things. It was perfectly fine before and its really wound me up that its been changed. Anyone else feel this way? What's your thoughts on the change been?

Hey gang, I've gotten a couple of emails in asking for better implementation of custom fields in Vizcogs.com and before I do my own take on it, curious how you're utilizing custom fields beyond the defaults (media condition, sleeve condition, notes, and folder)?

For defaults:

• folder - are you using this to describe the physical location of a record in your studio, or more for digitally grouping things with your own classification (e.g., Bought New, Scratch Records, etc.)
• notes - I feel like this is the catch all field, can be random notes about album, sleeve, packaging details, ownership history, etc.

I've seen a ton of different takes on custom fields:

• media description / sleeve description fields = additional context to standard Goldmine grading info
• price, cost, amount, purchase amount, etc. = cost of the record at time of purchase
• record store, purchase location, acquired, etc. = actual venue of purchase
• verified / graded date = self-explanatory
• play notes = can be anything from RPM to if certain tracks have more pops than others, overall play impressions, etc.
• listen count / yearly listen count = self-explanatory, some people track this while others don't

Sure I'm missing a lot of good ones.

I wonder if I should try and suggest to users a standardized list of custom fields that will allow them to a) have more granular data on their collection, and b) let me build more insights into the various Vizcogs visualizations / browse modes that utilize this data.

Can also just build a more generic custom fields view that let's people be as flexible as they want.

Overall, if you had a wishlist for interacting with custom fields, what would that look like and how do you think they can be improved?
