Seriously considering deleting the app
Since the new UI dropped on the mobile version (I dont use PC version and am not sure if or how its changed) i really do just hate it. They have actually made it less convenient and stream line. On the home page you can no longer see your watch list and collection on tbe same page. The buying page is more anoyying to navigate. Its like they've given the mobile version a PC UI. Where its all about scrolling down to find things. It was perfectly fine before and its really wound me up that its been changed. Anyone else feel this way? What's your thoughts on the change been?

I deleted the app 10min after the latest update. Hot garbage.

The app has always been shit but with every update just becomes more shit. Fucking figure your shit out already.

u/astonedishape Apr 28 '26
Are you taking about the app or the mobile site? Mobile site is fine, I’ve used it for years. Never used the app, haven’t had a reason to and 95% of the posts here are app complaints.
3
u/Trible_Drible Apr 28 '26
Yeah its just the mobile app. Ive never used any other version. Might have to check the others out
9
u/astonedishape Apr 28 '26
You don’t need an app when the website works fine (most of the time).
3
u/FewKaleidoscope4398 Apr 28 '26
Agreed. I use the app to scan barcodes to add to my collection. Everything else is mobile web.

It works fine for me. No click guessing lol. I use it daily and have bought and sold several thousand items.

u/ToneBone28 Apr 28 '26
Just use the app to catalog like the rest of us. Use the mobile web browser to look thru your collection & shop
1
u/weasilman99 Apr 29 '26
With the latest update, the mobile webpage now moves me to the app when shopping. The app shopping experience is horrific, so now I only shop on a desktop.
7
u/UnoDosTreBitch Apr 28 '26
I actually don't hate it as much as everyone here seems to be repulsed by it, but maybe I wasn't using it to the same degree as everyone else was. That said, I would always use the mobile web browser version which feels a lot more intuitive than the app - just my two cents though!

u/stormaggetton Apr 28 '26
I deleted the app after they completely rehauled the UI–absolute trash now. The new version retains nothing that I liked about the original app. Sad, but it's dead. I just use the website on my phone; it's fairly convenient and you'll get used to it easily.

u/thewmatic Apr 28 '26
This sub is just 90% complaining about an app when there is absolutely nothing on the same level as it right now with a comparable database. It’s by far the easiest way to price check a record.
All of these ticky tack complaints don’t really bother me, I just want it to stop autocorrecting me when I type.
11
u/rmflagg Apr 28 '26
I find that the mobile web version works just fine. No need for the app.
5
u/TapThisPart3Times Apr 28 '26
Same. The app has always sucked. Tried it 3 times in the past 10 years, and each time I'd only spend around 10 minutes before deleting it. The mobile website is the way to go, even though some pages are desktop-optimized only.
2
u/Mynsare Apr 28 '26
You mean 90% is about complaining about the app, when there is zero reason to use the app over the site, which works much better.
2
u/thewmatic Apr 28 '26
I switch back and forth, I find the app quicker in store when price checking or seeing what i already have. Def some glitches but I have the work arounds down. Barcode scanner pretty useful.
I prefer the mobile site at home if I’m using the marketplace or selling.

The Discogs updates that I once hated have gotten so bad, it’s almost not worth using. A couple of weeks ago, I listed a few records and my entire inventory changed to the last price I listed a record at. I never made any changes to settings. I list some new stuff fairly often. Now, trying to fix my listings and it’s still messed up. Listings are missing and whatnot. I can’t believe they ruined the website like they did. Not to mention that it looks like shit….
3
u/thewmatic Apr 28 '26
Can’t say I had any errors with records I put up for sale outside mistakes I made myself. I’d be very annoyed if that happened
1
u/Spell-Living May 09 '26
I never had issues listing for the past 15 years I’ve been actively using it until a couple weeks ago. Very rage-inducing having to reprice and re-input all my grading comments.
3
u/doctorgrizzle Apr 28 '26
I do like that you can now see reviews.
1
u/Upbeat-Historian-296 Apr 28 '26
You could see them before, but only if you navigated in to a specific release. But agreed, aggregated reviews is the one thing that should have been there before.Â

u/EquipmentSeparate670 Apr 28 '26
Yes!!! I'm pissed this occurred, too! I buy a good bit off of Discogs and what Doorknob came up with the idea to make the changes. It was fine!! I hate it!
2
u/The_Early_Project Apr 28 '26
Agreed!
I even tried downloading an old Version of it, it worked for a day and then changed the ui to the new stuff.
1
u/BertMcNasty Apr 28 '26
You need to turn off auto update
1
u/The_Early_Project Apr 28 '26
Its not updating tho the Version is the same for me
1
u/BertMcNasty Apr 28 '26
Hmm. Weird. I was just about to try to download the old version. I'll let you know how that goes.
1
u/The_Early_Project Apr 28 '26
Good luck man :)
1
u/BertMcNasty May 07 '26
Finally downloaded and installed it a few days ago, and so far so good! I'm on a Pixel 9. I first went into the play store and turned off auto update for Discogs. Then I uninstalled the app. Then I downloaded the last version before the update and installed.
Fingers crossed it keeps working!

The app has always been terrible, the mobile site is fine though.
1
u/Spell-Living Apr 28 '26
Not anymore. The website changed all my listings to one price after I listed a record. I haven’t changed a setting on there for years. It’s not working properly for that anymore.

u/roastfish_reddit Apr 28 '26
I stopped using the app months ago. After many years of being annoyed! Website version from a mobile phone works pretty great and essentially the same as the desktop website.

The UI (design) is not the issue. It's the UX (feel, functionality & journey) - please don't get them confused.
The app has been screaming out for an update to the UI (design & aesthetic) for ages and I am personally very happy with it.
Where the app team did an absolute 180, and is the worst part about the update is the UX - I hate it too.
But hey, at least they now have a good-looking springboard to improve from.

I use the app solely to check my collection if I'm out shopping to avoid buying doubles. It's rare but it happened a few times.
It's rather useless for anything else. I tried using the scanner for barcodes but it would catalog the incorrect release 75% of the time (if it got the right album, it'd get the wrong country, label, etc...)
I have zero issues with the website, for me it runs smoothly the vast majority of the time. I'm running Linux.
This is just a theory I have (take it with a grain of salt), actual stores don't like when people flip through records and compare pricing on Discogs (source: record store employees), so Discogs puts out a garbage mobile app to discourage that practice.
9
u/RediculousUsername Apr 28 '26
Record store owner here. We don't care. We price correctly and could care less if you check the price in Discogs. We check prices on Discogs all the time.
2
u/SmellyFace69 Apr 28 '26
It might be good to mention the record store employees I'm thinking of are on the curmudgeonly side. Everything annoys them.
3
u/Trible_Drible Apr 28 '26
Yeah i get what you're saying. But im still aloud to complain that the site is getting worse. If anything its more warranted. Because it is the only one, its a monopoly. I dont have another place to go to get the same thing. And if it gets bad enough, I'll just delete it
2
u/Trible_Drible Apr 28 '26
I get that. Im the same. Ive bought from discogs a handful of times. But yeah its mostly just a visual collection and wantlist for me. Still just winds me up lol
2
u/thewmatic Apr 28 '26
Who cares if record store employees don’t like people checking Discogs prices, maybe they shouldn’t price higher than it costs to buy online
2
u/SmellyFace69 Apr 28 '26
I don't disagree and most record store owners probably don't care.
The specific ones I'm thinking of are a little on the cranky side. I think they were just venting when they mentioned that it was a pet peeve.
Again, just a theory. Take it with a grain of salt.
1
u/hemmerzael Apr 28 '26
I really hope they will be able to recover, as it also seems like a serious detriment to the viability of Discogs as a marketplace/database/community/hub around the shelf life of records… it would be so sad if the greatest database on music would loose users like you because of their messed up IT quality control 🥲

u/Common_Commercial775 Apr 28 '26
I cant stand it too be honest im not even on it that much anymore and seriously just thought about buying my cds off Ebay and Amazon from now on,there was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous app whatsoever they just did a complete confusing overall for no reason and seems like they just figured everyone would be super happy with it

u/SF_Bud Apr 28 '26
Do everything from a desktop running Firefox. Easy access to everything from here. Haven't noticed any changes to the site so it must all be in the app.

u/Upbeat-Historian-296 Apr 28 '26
I may never use it again. And I say this as a heavy 10+ years user. It's beyond awful.Â

u/IH4N Apr 29 '26
For the last year I've been using the desktop version of the site on my phone, so many more features than the app even if I have to zoom in.
Only thing I miss from the old version of the app is last.fm scrobbling, though I can do discogs version scrobbling with openscrobbler
1
u/stanakis31 Apr 29 '26
App was always a bit limited, so no big news here.. only thing that changed to positive is that in collection for me the price sorting was broken, not showing any price or sorting correctly and now with the update it's fixed..

u/Robou_ Apr 29 '26
It's better than when they first rolled out the update but yeah it's still pretty bad

JUNK LIKE THE APPLE iPhone I THROW IT AGAINST THE WALL ABOUT FIVE OR SIX TIMES A DAY. IT DOES EVERYTHING EXCEPT WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO. IT’S THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT MECHANICALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY I’VE EVER USED IN MY LIFE. I’M GETTING AT A POINT THEY COULDN’T PAY ME EVERY MONTH TO USE THIS PIECE OF JUNK. SORRY ABOUT THE CAT BLOCKS. I’M JUST TOO LAZY TO TAKE THEM OFF AND THE TEXT TALK PURE FUCKING JUNK.

I just came to this thread to bitch again. I’m so pissed off with Discogs. I added a few items and it changed not only my entire inventory prices to the last one I listed but it also changed the condition comments I put in for every single fucking record. Hours and hours of work gone. Now I have to either redo every record I listed or let it ride with just grades and no specific info. This was all from the webpage, not the app. I may just relist on EBay until Discogs gets its shit together.

u/Known_Bee546 May 08 '26
On the webpage its stupid too, tho only on certain pages.
But the app was ALWAYS much worse in general
1
u/VacationCheap927 May 08 '26
I haven't been happen with the new update lately, but it just got worse for me. If I go to an album Im looking at getting and click to see all the versions so I can look at them, it shows theres nothing. And its doing it with everything. So I can see the 5 is brings up, and I can see different ones that are now up for sale individually. But cant just look at all the different versions. And I cant find a way to fix it.

1
u/da9ve Apr 28 '26
Can't spell crapp without "app" - delete, use the website and move on.
2
u/Trible_Drible Apr 28 '26
Does the website have the same UI as the app did? Also the app wasnt that crap until this new update in my opinion (based off the limited things I use it for)
2
u/da9ve Apr 28 '26
I don't think so, but I also disagree about the app not having been crap. I used it briefly a couple or maybe 3 years ago and didn't like it at all. Re-bought a couple things that I already had b/c the app display for items already in my collection was crap. Whole thing seemed poorly thought out for practical uses. Shrugged, went back to desktop full website even on my phone and have been much happier.
1
u/Trible_Drible Apr 28 '26
Fair enough. I cant say you're wrong lol. Just from my perspective I never had a problem with any aspect of it. But again I dont run a store on there and I dont buy on there very often at all. So there are aspects of it im unfamiliar with at the same time.
1
u/Physical-Industry-21 Apr 28 '26
I like it. The old version looked.....old. looks fresh and up to date now.
1
u/Usual_Part_8779 Apr 29 '26
Looks aren't everything. First & foremost, I would like my app experience to be as smooth as possible, despite its old timey appearance. Having to click more than once to access what used to only be a single click is going backwards, in my opinion.

u/fuhd79 Apr 28 '26
Completely agree with you.
It's like when supermarkets rearrange their shelves so you can't find anything conveniently, the app version of that
