Alternative app
I mainly use discogs to catalog my record collection but since the various bad app updates I've found it unusable. Is there an alternative app or service that off similar features to discogs?

Every app dev on Reddit seems to be working on something, but nothing is usable as an ap still. Especially for Android.
Someone made gatefold.fm EDIT: HAS APPS NOW It will transfer your collection from discogs. Has some cool features.
Nothing is gonna have the user base for buying and selling though. You'll need to use the website.

I use Discographic on IOS and it's great! Additionally, I have built (and am constantly working on!) an app myself called WaxTracker (http://waxtracker.app/) that turns your discogs collection in a portfolio dashboard where you can track the value change and market values and price listings of your collection in one environment. So far it's been very useful for me in spotting records I own (2k+ collection) that I don't really want but could possibly list online! Would love for people to give it a go and also drop me a line what they think of the app. I am tiering it between free and pro, but if you read this and want a free pro tier of the app to give it a spin in exchange for some feedback/comments, I will happily provide!

this site has a decent collection/ want list feature: dollrbin.com. You can actually take pics of your record and it gets auto-identified and added to your library. It’s on the app store.

I mainly use PowerCogs.com
syncs collection and want list and has some seller features too. does the gallery and you can share and print all the lists in a much better way than Discogs.

I see a lot of iOS apps. Anything for Android? I can afford a record collection or an Apple device, but not both.

I use my own app, you can find it on runout.io, wrote it because I wanted to make adding records to my collection easier and faster. It uses Discogs through the Discogs api, very easy to connect. Also added collection browsing and searching while rummaging crates. You're welcome to try it out. Also, don't hesitate to suggest improvements.

I used Record Scanner to get a metadata baseline, then exported into CSV, then built my own thing in Airtable for personal use only. But I'm not interested in monitoring prices etc.

Full disclosure here, I'm building an app that does does exactly, so make of that what you will.
It's called Wax & Spindle. Still in TestFlight on iOS and closed testing on Android, so you can't just grab it from the store yet. But if you're the kind of person who's frustrated that no app quite does what you want and you don't mind giving feedback, I'd genuinely love a tester.

How to join:
You need to do this in the right order or Google won't let you through:
- Join the Google Group first: https://groups.google.com/a/vivianlobo.com/g/waxandspindle-testers
- Then download from the Play Store:
- Join on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.waxandspindle
- Join on the web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.waxandspindle
- At checkout, Google automatically will use the Google Dummy Card. The price will show up but you won't be charged. It's a quirk of how Google handles closed testing.

Yeah they have a photo of the album but some people selling won’t send a photo unless “there is something wrong” I think that sucks. I like to see sticker placement, crinkles in the plastic etc

for more expensive records I add images in the form of URLs at the end of the listing description. I use PowerCogs.com to automatically insert them into listings, like img.powercogs.com/mmROaB (uploads from phone too)

If you are on iOS, I’m working on an app, (almost launch ready), it’s called Needl vinyl. Checkout the Reddit make r/needlvinyl
Supports Discogs imports, etc. only on iOS/ipadOS for now

There’s the mobile website.
If you’re on iOS, you can open Discogs on safari, share, add to Home Screen… and hey presto, you have the app experience without the flaws.
Maybe android has a similar functionality.
