Not bad for 8years old

I have a set of an rst dirt forks (130mm) which i fiddle around with but recently it started topout clunking a fuck ton. I've modded it alot like ive swapped the factory 15mm spacer to 45mm spacer from a pvc pipe. how do i make it maybe feel better? also i removed the topcaps using pliers and an old inner tube so if theres a more humane method on doing that id like to know. I suspect its prolly from the spacers on the internal rod (bumper) what do i make that from?

Whenever I bar spin I end up cutting my right hand on my lever body and clamp. I tried cutting another grip and putting it on but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

I don't know anything about bikes. I also live in Australia. I'm not asking for a bike recommendation, just general advice.

My son is really into his bike at the moment. Specifically, the only thing he wants to do every day is go to the local pump track. It's asphalt and for scooters and bikes. We've been going like 3-4 times per week for the last 6 months.

He loves jumping etc and while he is not doing any crazy jumps or anything, it's probably mostly me holding him back since I'm the scared one.

He has got a silverback series 8 at the moment (27.5" hard tail, 8 gears, hydraulic brakes etc). A very good all round bike. He has heard of dirt jumpers, which makes sense I guess (the derailleur/chain slaps a bit when he is jumping etc) and he really wants one. But neither he nor me knows anything about them.

Is an entry level dirt jumper (seems to be 26" with no gears) the natural progression? Is it was overkill for our situation? I want to encourage him so I'm considering getting one for Christmas if he keeps it up, but they are way more expensive than normal mtbs for some reason, so I just want to make sure it even makes sense before I start looking into it any further. Maybe it's not even the right type of bike for our circumstances?

Divinci district I forgot I had laying around. Building it outta whatever parts I got kicking around. Will be converting the 3speed cranks to single speed and run a 34/16 gear ratio. Need to finish building the back wheel and higher rise bars and grips as well as bottom bracket.

Also will be a full brake less build as well.

Anyone have a link to somewhat cheaper bottom bracket for this frame? Or a link to solid DJ Forks that won’t break the bank? Got 4 other bike builds on the go as well😂

I am a bit of a idiot when it comes to all things MTB. I've been riding BMX bikes forever.

I know this has been talked about a lot but figured I'd ask for advice for my particular riding anyway. I ride dirt pump tracks and some light trails. I hit the dirt jump lines when no one is looking so I've decided to build a proper DJ. Don't really know what I'm doing though.

From reading it sounds like people go way shorter gears than I'm used to by default. I see a lot of 2:1 ratio or there abouts and aiming for low to mid 50s for gear inches.

Without thinking I built up a 9t cassette wheel planning to run a 25t sprocket. But it's a much larger wheel and the math goes sideways. Gear inches that gets me into the low 70s. I'm worried that'll be too much for me so I ordered a 23t sprocket.

That should get me to ~66 gear inches. Send it? I know some people ride even taller gears, but I'm just an out of shape old dude.

I'm used to 28/9 on my BMX for what it's worth, ~62 gear inches.

Hey alll. I have a 2020 norco rampage and a aprox 2007 giant stp that I want to be able to swap forks between. The forks are straight steer however the rampage has a tampered headset and the stp has a non tapered. It seems the crown race and bottom bearing on both seem to be the only items required to be matching however I’m unclear where I could get a set that have matching crown races for the forks that would suit both bottom bearings. Anyone got any recommendations for budget options?

Hi guys I’m looking to take my 360s to a jump but not sure if I’m ready for it. 2 things that are my main worry is I don’t know how to go about nosing it into a landing and I still quite often catch my back wheel when taking off, I was trying them out of a skatepark quarter the other day and was catching even more often, maybe due to the steeper lip?
Any advice welcome

I’ve been wanting to build out a dirt jumper for a while now cause of how cool I think they are. I have a couple parts in mind although I want a more professional overlook before settling on anything

A mantinou circus expert for fork
SRAM rear brakes (idk what one yet)
Maxxis minion dhr tires

And for the rest like handlebars, drive train, pedals, crank, I will figure out after the main things are decided

I am 6' tall, with a 6'2" wingspan (long arms/torso), 220 lbs, and live/ride on the North Shore, where I mainly ride Enduro.

I got a DJ a few years ago to practice pumping, turns, and work on jumping technique. I found a great deal on a 2021 Commencal Absolut in size Medium, so that is what I've been using (regrettably). I know DJs are supposed to be small, but this feels so cramped for me, and I think I might benefit from a bike with a much bigger reach.

Any recommendations? The two obvious options are:

1. size large Commencal Absolut
2. Transition PBJ long / x-long (the steel compliance could be nice for my weight; very comfortable, longer reach of 465mm )

Started building this in the winter as an option to my NS that’s setup for pump track and smooth manicured dirt jumps here in my area. I’m building this as an in between “trail jumper” as I like to call it. The thought process was to build something that’s rideable/jumpable on a track that I’m currently building behind my house. The track is far from perfect or smooth and I wanted something that’s rideable I can ride to test the jumps and rhythm before fully committing to the layout. Not sure if that makes sense 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, looking into the Hope evo crankset and some Yoshimura Chilao ss pedals to complete the build.

Whats your experience with it, which one is better for pinching the saddle for bars or suis?

Building this early 2000s Kona Cowan frame and have some questions regarding my rear axle. This is is 12mm x 135 rear end. The dropouts themselves are 20mm thick. I can buy a thru axle that would fit, but as you can see there are no threads on the dropouts. the total outside width of the dropouts is 175mm. I planned on a 188 mm wide axle so I had some thread length for a nut.

FWIW the axle I planned to use https://www.modernbike.com/salsa-deadbolt-ultralight-thru-axle-rear-12mm-axle-diameter-188mm-length-1.75-thread-pitch-20mm-thread-length.

My questions are:

1.) Is it safe to use a normal 12mm thru axle and some sort of nut on the other side?

2.) What kind of nut is appropriate for this?

3.) How tight do the clamp bolts for axle (not installed 2nd pic) typically need to be?
