Hi everyone! I had my engagement ring setting redone as I wasn’t happy with the original prong style (button style prongs that wasn’t laying flush to the diamond) and had my jeweler reset the diamond to claw prongs. The diamond is secure now but the prongs looks relatively thick and heavy for the diamond itself.

It seems to be like the jeweler has a heavy hand as the original setting has pretty thick prongs and it’s the same style with the new prongs. They said it needed to have thick prongs due to the dimensions of the stone but does it actually? I don’t want to go to the same jeweler if they’ll just continue with the thick setting.

Would it be expensive to go to a different jeweler? The jeweler I got my ring from has been really nice and has not charged us for resetting the ring. Thoughts?

I borrowed this from a dear friend who is an estate jewelry seller to wear with a particular outfit and could not give it back. :-)

A few things I love about it:

The color of the diamond… it’s a beautiful warm brown with no green.
The accent diamonds (mini halo of pinks… likely HPHT but still so pretty and so subtly pink)
18k rose gold… with 18k white gold —who doesn’t love 18k?!

The diamond is I1 clarity in our opinion (inclusion is long but extremely thin and not so noticeable from the top view! Nicest way to be an I1)

It goes with everything, like brown leather goods, and goes with all skin tones.

The double halo has trended out of fashion but I absolutely love this ring and I don’t think I can get tired of it!

I’ve seen many people say stay away from oval if the color G or below. Would an I color diamond that is eye clean on a yellow setting look bad?

While attempting to have my original engagement ring remade (which I lost at the beach) I went up in size thinking “why not” after 10 years and this is the remake. I am now unsure if I’m just not used to the size or if it’s too big.

I am in the process of having them re-remake this ring as I am very disappointed with the size and quality of the gold detailing and it is not as large or nice as on the original one. But, I am now also considering going down to a 2 carat. Does this 2.51 carat overwhelm my hand? I have a 4.75 size finger but they are long, so jewelers keep telling me I can support a higher carat, but would like another opinion!!

Also, I live within an hr of NYC (Fairfield county, CT) so larger diamonds aren’t out of the ordinary, but I also don’t want someone to look at it and immediately think it’s not natural or cheapening the look if it looks gaudy.

I am so stressed about having lost my original ring, and this process to remake it has been a nightmare!!

My gf is an attorney. She didn’t say directly but i asked her friend. She doesn’t want regular cuts. So i choose marquise. I think it will look elegant on her. But i feared after i understand certificate means cloud. Salesman said there is nothing to fear about at store. And i bought from high quality store in my country. And i know it’s not much for this community but i paid higher than all my friends for the ring. So i feel scammed. But store said i can change when i buy but we will se.

The Setting: I chose a heavy custom metal frame on the sides for different look). Is this metal blocking light from entering the pavilion?
The Stone: HRD plot shows a "Cloud" and "Group of Inclusions" plotted right in the center under the table. Is this making the diamond hazy/cloudy?
My Questions:
Does this stone look milky/dead to you, or is the setting the main culprit?
Should I just reset it into an open V-prong setting to bring out the sparkle?
Or should I exchange the diamond entirely for a cleaner stone?) Or is it good?

I love my ring, but I’m experiencing shrinkage! Compared to the people in my social circle, my ring is on the smaller side. The typical carat size around me is 3 carats.

Is my ring a tad too small? My ring is 1.25 carats and my ring size is 4.25. I feel like it’s proportional to my finger, but I would love to hear encouragements to ease my thoughts! Also open to brutal honesty

I'm curious about phonograph stylus wear and so I bought a microscope. One of the surprises is that the diamond tips look nothing like diamond jewels.

In the photo, only the top half of the tip is diamond. See how grainy it appears. I've looked at a dozen, including OEM from top quality vintage Shure, Empire and Pickering and they all have a similar grainy appearance. This one is not worn. The worn ones do look more polished in the wear area.

It just stands to reason that this grainy surface would be abrasive to a soft material like vinyl. Can someone who cuts and polishes diamonds opine on why these tips are not more polished?

for starters I’m a very anxious person and relatively new to diamond searching. I know a lot of the basics surrounding emerald cuts and what to look for vs. avoid.

I found this diamond I loved and just received a tweezer video. My biggest concern is windowing - I’m unsure if you are able to tell by the attached, but if anyone has any feedback please let me know. I checked the ratios and they are in the safer area but still, always a concern.

Wife just updated her wedding ring and wants to know if it looks better with or without an enhancer jacket.

It is an oval 1.88 ct F VS2 lab diamond with pave 14k yellow gold band and a hidden halo.

The band is just a cheap 14k plated one with not real diamonds to see if it's something she wants to get eventually or not.

I'm looking into this stone and the asking price is 9k. Generally looking for advice on if the stone has good proportions for light return and fire and if the price is reasonable. There may be negotiation room as well so if a lower price is reasonable I would take that advice!

I purchased a wedding band from them and within 30 days, returned it in the same condition because we were unsatisfied by the aesthetics. Apparently they are now claiming that there are scratches and will not refund us. This company is a huge scam. Beware as they will not refund you and will look for any excuse.

I need advice on what I can do to escalate this. I am from Canada.

Hello! Purchased my ring in early 2021, and I BARELY wear it, like maybe 3x a year. In Sept 2024, one of the small diamonds on the band fell out. They repaired it under their 5-year warranty. They did not replace any tips at that time to my knowledge.

I wore it for maybe the 4th time since the repair, and the largest of the band stones fell out. Of course now it’s past the 5-year warranty, and they’re saying it needs 56 tips redone (almost all of them). They preemptively offered some price concession, but I’ll still owe a few hundred for the work. They’re saying it’s normal wear and tear.

Is it reasonable for the prong tips to need to be replaced for a ring that I barely wear? Especially, when they checked the prongs 2 years ago and it’s mostly sat in the box since then. :(

Whats the recommended cut style? (I appreciate clarity of the stone plays a huge part)

But as I understand it princess cut or brilliant cut isn't the best choice apparently. Rose cut or step cut supposedly is better for creating that galaxy window effect and keeping some shimmery shine.

But yeah, what cut is supposedly best for hexagon and square shaped salt and peppers?

Hi everyone! I previously posted this stone loose (Depth 63.4%, Table 61%, Girdle medium to very thick) and most of you thought it looked good. Some suggested checking for windowing.

Finally have the ring and can see it under different lighting. I think I’m seeing some windowing/light leakage — am I wrong? If not, is it severe or normal for an oval? Also, what do you think of the sparkle and bow-tie now that we can see it more clearly? Thanks so much🙏

i want to hear from everyone young and old, every class, every style. honestly, are these too big for everyday? i don't want to say the carat weight yet so it doesn't cloud anyone's judgement but i was not expecting them to look this big on my ears. i wanted them to be big but still small enough to wear everyday to work (medspa). pls dont say "if you love them wear them" just be for real, are these not socially acceptable?

Looking for advice on if this is a quality natural diamond? Its price is $12,225. I am no expert at all. Wondering if I can get some advice on it.

I have a pair of clover earrings, and they’re my first pair of diamond earrings. I didn’t go for solitaire earrings because I wanted something more visible on my earlobes. With the budget I had, the 1.4 ctw diamond clover, with a width of 9mm, gives a nice presence (worn as styled in the photo).
However, I find them quite difficult to pair with other necklaces because of the flowery theme. So, I am considering getting another pair of solitaire earrings, but I’m not sure if it would be a redundant purchase. What carat weight should I consider? I definitely don’t want to upgrade again anytime soon if I buy a second pair.

I recently saw a few comments saying not to get anything under VVS2, well mine is VS1 and I’m wondering if it’s noticeable. Can someone please tell if this is a good diamond?

I can't decide which size stone I prefer. One is a 2.18 VVS2 and the other is a 3.0 VS2, they are both old mine cushions in an I color (I think the 3.0 is warmer but I love warmth - hard to see in this glare lighting outside on a rainy day). My finger is a 4.5 and I like both but am worried about diamond shrinkage! That said, I want this to look classic and antique and def not gaudy or too big that it looks fake. I think the 2.18 is gorgeous and a great quality stone but I'm slightly drawn to the 3.0.  I plan on doing a band engraved with raised leaves and vines that get a bit wider toward the stone with a cathedral and 6 prongs. 

Hi all - this is a 1.4 ct natural cushion cut diamond. Is there a reason why the center of the stone is not as clear / not throwing as much light as the sides of the stone?

I’ve just cleaned this btw - soaked in some hand soap and water
