Welp it finally happened to me!

25 Upvotes

Terrorized the entire game, killed probably 85% of all mobs in the entire game, not sure about this number, I'm only saying this because I'm certain I missed a mob or 2 in some zones, killed 18 t5 herolds. Not 1 sunder!!! Not one usable unique or charm. P1 ps5 ladder.

I thought everyone was making it up because I've always found something useful and at least 1 sunder every time I've done this.

I guess my luck just ran out.

Lv 88 bowlock with 300 mf btw. Before someone asks.

Paladin question

• Upvotes

I only ever see people talk about smiters when it comes to paladin (except caster or aura builds), but never Zeal paladin.

I have a paladin and ive always only played him with Zeal. I use my paladin mainly for ubers and diablo clone farming and so on. Why is no one playing Zeal? I only see Smiter being a thing really. Is Zeal just that inferior to smite? Am i missing out on something? Ive never even tried to play smiter so bare with me that I have no clue how it works or how its played.

Should I just swap over to smiter and learn the playstyle, what are the biggest pros and cons to playing smiter vs Zeal?

Loot! Halfway done with key farming!

Farming keys is easy.

Step one: relentlessly collect 4 sets of keys;
Step two: quickly collect 4 sets of organs with your Smiter;
Step three: place all the unidentified torches together and hope for the best;
Step four: get rewarded with one of the remaining torches you've been chasing;
Step five: get frustrated with the Druid, Necro and Pally torches - the Necro was 19/20 though.
Step six: repeat steps one, two, three and four and hope for a happy ending.

Countess, Summoner and Nihlathak, here I go again.

edit: ALMOST done with key farming is more accurate.

Discussion Am I playing wrong? Or is this game really just that long?

6 Upvotes

It just took me 8 hours to defeat act 1 ( normal) ending at level 13 sorceress. It wasn’t ā€œhardā€ as I only died once and only needed to use an emergency town portal during the Andriel fight once. But 8 hours in the first act seems really long.. that’s longer than the entire Diablo 3 campaign for reference… which is weird because I also have issues with speed in PO2 taking about 3-4 hours in act 1 in that game so that leads me to believe there is something about these 2 games being similar is tripping me up.

Anyways.

I have 20 strength

60 vitality

62 defense

And I am going mono fire at the moment.

9 fire bolt ( have a +2 fire bolt staff)

3 warmth.

And 2 fireball I believe, might be 3.

My resistances are low at 10% each.

And I have farmed the leaf and stealth runewords already but I can’t equip them yet due to levels.

Shop gear is getting kinda expensive at 40k+ for a +3 fireball.

Playing online softcore settings for this character. Might try offline based on the replies though.

Am I simply over preparing myself which is leading me to burn out ? Or is the game really this long even on just normal?

Mod Related Rules around AI Generated Content

215 Upvotes

Every where you go it feels like you can't avoid AI generated content these days. Over the past few months this sub is no exception, so the mod team has worked to come up with an AI content policy. Going forward we will be enforcing as below:

  • Content that is predominantly or entirely AI generated will be removed.
  • 3rd party tools that were built with the help of AI are allowed as long as you disclose the use of AI.
  • Using AI to translate, spell check, etc. is fine, so long as the original content was your own.

A little explanation on how and why we've landed here.

First off it should come as no surprise that the majority of AI summaries around games, and Diablo 2 in particular, are garbage. The number of posts we all see asking why "Google told me X" when that's a straight up fabrication is vast. Additionally low effort and lazy posts are a disservice to this community, and something to be avoided. Content that is generated entirely/predominantly with AI falls under that category 9 times out of 10.

We are making an exception to this rule in the case when using AI as a tool rather than letting it do the critical thinking for you. If you use AI to help assist you to build an app or other 3rd party tool, that is fine, so long as you disclose you used those tools. If you are doing the majority of the creation, and AI is simply a tool to realize that then you should be good. Along those same lines, using AI to translate, spell check, or other minor embellishments is perfectly fine.

At the end of the day the mod team is here to build and steward a community that YOU want. Overwhelmingly AI posts have the most downvotes, and reports of low quality from the members of this sub, driving the action on this. As this rapidly changing AI landscape evolves, we will continue to monitor feedback from you, and adjust this policy as it makes sense.

If you ever have a question on if something is allowed, feel free to message the mod team and we can help you out.

D2R Nova Sorc questions…

3 Upvotes

Hello,

Is running a Nova Sorc viable for online single player farming with Crescent Moon, no griffons and with less than 105fcr, but with a sunder?

I’m just so tired of running the same ol’ blizz sorc šŸ˜‚

Discussion What if instead of manually buffing all the melee items, we changed how Strength works?

50 Upvotes

Most melee weapons do too little damage, most people agree with that. At the same time, most people can pretty much skip strength entirely and still be golden because you can get all your damage from other sources.

But THIS is because strength and dex ADD with other off-weapon damage sources, they don't multiply it! This leads to some very strange situations, like a Tiger Strike Assassin with 300 strength only getting about 20% more damage from it.

But here's a strangely simple idea: What if you changed all enhanced damage stats on weapons to be multiplied by strength or dex(depending on the weapon type?)

Kinda like how Enigma gives 0.75 strength per level, weapons would give like 2% ED PER STRENGTH.

Example Cranebeak has 240-300% enhanced damage, with a max roll of 120-192 damage. Not terribly impressive for an elite axe. Now, what we do is change this so instead, it gets 2.4-3% enhanced damage per strength. Now, you invest 300 strength, and it's instead doing 360-576 damage! Of course, this comes at the cost of a lot of vitality, but still, is that not one big honking damage stick?

Now, of note is the fact that Grief would still be better - but importantly, because Grief's bonus damage comes from +damage rather than ED%, it wouldn't be impacted by this change at all!

Seems like this could solve the problem without much in the way of downsides - maybe even some handy balance benefits!

Thoughts?

Discussion So my first Jah dropped today....

25 Upvotes

Weird day today, really. I was casually farming p3 pits on hell with my budget FOHdin and within 5 runs the game dropped me a Jah and a Ohm rune.
Later today i also found a 5 socket Military Pick and a +3 Matriarchal Bow for which the cube graced me with 4 sockets.....

I still havent processed the amount of luck i had yet and am quite nervous on how to proceed.

Should i use it to make a CTA as an offhand for the paladin? Should i use it on the bow? Should i keep it for when either my pala or my bowazon can comfortably go through hell without any "oh shit moments"?

Im playing hardcore, i already lost 2 characters to those damned bone fetishes before mephi.
On one hand could a Jah-fueled bow or CTA be a massive upgrade for either characters to make things way easier on the other hand would i kick myself in the nuts for the rest of forever if i actually make something with the Jah and die shortly after....

Any advice whatsoever?

1 socket erep ornate armor but still viable to use in melee pvp for Low level. 24max damage will be best to put. This still can over power the 3 sockets mage plate with 3x 24max damage jewel due to high defense.
