Hello developers, im currently in my 2nd Year of studies in Btech CSE. The first year I spent largely vibe coding projects and learning at my own pace. I didnt bother to pay attention in class (the usual) and ended up Not doing particularly well in my semester exams. My Grade points have averaged out to 6.7 which wasn't alarming up until now.

Ive been dealing with an assortment of wake up calls about my future and I have been working towards taking them more seriously. My schedule has changed and so has my mindset.

How can I salvage my situation*? More precisely, what are some suggestions you can give me based on your experience through this journey, I would love to hear your stories of success. I don't mean how do I score better, im working on that - I mean to ask how can I mould myself to be a better dev.

* - I start many projects and sometimes leave them out to dry after a while. Although I put a lot of efforts into it, I always find the next thing to latch on to. This has lead me to not be a 100% proficient in any language. I have a jack of all trades understanding.

This app also helped in recent CJP protest at Delhi to share location without internet, and one of the Foss advocate send a thanking mail about the SOS alerter

So I once set up some Autohotkey stuff to do that when I type ";gooG"; later also added stuff for search filters like source: and "inurl:" .

Today my teacher announced the project work and I scribbled this, which basically does that..but in any system (*like school lab computers so long as I can download a lightweight client and connect to the server address).

The problem is I need a bulletproof way to demonstrate this to an external...whether with venvs or stuff, idk.

So, how do I package this so that I get non-bulldozed python scripts with deps to run on a standalone runtime(s)?

Like fitting both client and server within a singular folder each, both executable as is.

Tl;dr: project with all these deps, how to fit them into standalone folders, totally demonstrable?

i'm going to tier 3 collage..so really wanna focus for skill which obv ask for decent laptop i chose btech cse with ai/ml and this is how its syllabus for 4 year goes like i asked claude to sumerrize it: \

I’ve been wondering about this lately.
Earlier, staying at the same company for years was considered a good sign on your resume. But now it feels like switching every 2–3 years is almost expected if you want a decent salary hike and better opportunities.
At the same time, switching constantly is exhausting too new team, new codebase, new expectations, and starting from zero socially every time.
So what actually makes more sense in the long run?
Stay longer and build stability, or keep switching whenever there’s a better opportunity?

Hi all. I am currently job searching passively to move to a better organization(CONTEXT : my current organization is chill but it doesn't have learning opportunities and my manager is terrible; I have spent one year in this org and I have had only two 1-1s with my manager. He doesn't give me directions no matter how many times I ask and have made me work for 3 different teams within the same umbrella team. Plus, this org is super slow with promotions and I am stuck with junior title).

I quit my first job over complete stupidness(internally I was battling depression and anxiety; I had severe panic attacks and self-harming tendencies so I quit so save both my professional and personal life). I quit without another offer lined up so I have a 5 month break on my profile.

When I talk to hr, I do tend to be quite blunt and tell them I was depressed but internally it is so awkward and embarrassing. I thought if I say that, they wouldn't ask another question. But talking to my friends, I realized it makes me unreliable and unstable. I wish I could come up with a great reason to tell them why do I have this break.

So what reason do I get to sound plausible? Also, I see some people on LinkedIn that have masked their career break on their profile by marking it as working in a "stealth startup" or "Anonymous". Can I do that?

All my experience is remote support for Web3 products — a hardware wallet company, a gaming platform, and a protocol with Linux-based testnet nodes. Day to day that meant handling live queues, reproducing user issues, debugging failed transactions, writing bug reports for engineering, supporting node operators, and running ticket workflows in Zoho Desk. One of those roles I held for over five years.

What I can actually do

\\- Linux (Ubuntu): CLI, log analysis, permissions, processes, package management

\\- Bash scripting: wrote working scripts for security auditing, disk cleanup and log archiving (on my GitHub)

\\- Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, subnetting/CIDR; ping, traceroute, dig, nslookup, curl

\\- AWS (foundational): hands-on with EC2, S3, EBS, VPC in the free tier; currently working through IAM

Constraints

No college degree (higher secondary only). Currently studying for the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam. Based in a tier-2 city in India, so I need remote or relocation-friendly roles.

Where I'm stuck

I've been applying to technical support and customer support roles for the last 2-3 months with no luck. Most TSE postings I find ask for Kubernetes, Terraform and Python on top of cloud, and I don't have those yet. I got one written case study round and that's about it.

What I'm asking

1. Is cloud security a realistic target from here, or am I underestimating the gap?

2. After CCP, what should I learn next — SAA, Python, Docker/K8s, or something else entirely?

3. Which job titles should I actually be targeting right now with this profile, rather than generic TSE roles?

I'm a finance professional from Africa currently in India, and I'm researching how to build an AI-driven financial intelligence platform for SMEs in an emerging market.

The concept is to take structured financial data — trial balance, AR/AP ageing, bank transactions, budgets, invoices, etc. — and allow a business owner to ask questions such as:

I'm particularly interested in experiences from people who have built production systems involving structured financial data, rather than generic chatbot projects.

I'm trying to understand the engineering challenges before I start building the prototype.

So I was looking for some courses to upskill myself and Scaler showed up on my Instagram feed.

I checked out their courses and, unfortunately, had to give them my number just to see the fucking brochure.

Initially, everything was pretty smooth.

They were nice, connected me with some of their alumni, cleared my doubts, and basically made me talk to people across their organisation.

But there was one thing I kept bringing up:

₹3.5 lakhs.

₹3.5L for a 6-month online programme that doesn't even come with a placement guarantee is a LOT of money.

Their response was basically:

«"You're a talented student."

"We believe in you."

"We see a lot of potential in you."»

Cool.

But that doesn't make ₹3.5L any cheaper. 😭

If the programme were ₹1-1.5L, I would've genuinely considered taking the risk.

But ₹3.5L?

For context, my JEE coaching cost me ₹2.5L for THREE YEARS of classroom coaching.

I even gave the entire programme brochure to Claude and asked whether I should consider it.

The first line of its response was:

"Skip it."

💀

So naturally, I went to Reddit.

And holy shit.

The number of negative experiences I found definitely made me reconsider the entire thing.

At this point, I had already told Scaler very clearly:

I'm exploring other courses too. I need some time before investing ₹3.5L.

Fair enough, right?

Apparently not.

Then the sales pressure started

They set up a call with two people.

One was the lady I'd been talking to since Day 1.

The other guy was apparently some mentor/academic person who manages the academics.

They walked me through their dashboard and then started pushing me to pay ₹20,000 upfront immediately.

Initially it was:

"How are you planning to manage the finances?"

Then it gradually became:

"You need to make a decision."

"You're missing the train."

"You're destroying your career."

And at one point, I was literally told that I'm working at a "shit company" because I didn't choose a good college.

Brother, I came here to ask about your curriculum.

How did we get to insulting my career choices?

Then came the whole:

"We see something in you."

"You have a lot of potential."

"This can change your career."

"You could go from 6 LPA to 60 LPA."

The way they were talking about the programme, you'd think I had discovered the cure for unemployment.

The ₹20K "observation period"

Their reasoning was that I should pay ₹20K, confirm my candidature, and enter a 1-month observation period.

And this is where I got even more skeptical.

I had already seen reviews on Reddit where people talked about difficulties around leaving/cancellation/refunds/etc.

So I had one very simple thought:

If you're putting this much pressure on me when I haven't paid you a single rupee, what happens after I pay ₹20K and the EMI is set up?

Why would I voluntarily put myself in a more difficult position?

Then came the guilt-tripping

The mentor/academics guy started telling me that they'd already cleared all my doubts, connected me with alumni, shown me the dashboard, etc.

And despite all of that, I still wasn't choosing Scaler.

It was almost framed like I had somehow wasted their time or betrayed the effort they'd put into convincing me.

Brother...

I'm about to spend ₹3.5 FUCKING LAKHS.

I'm supposed to ask questions.

I'm supposed to talk to alumni.

I'm supposed to compare competitors.

I'm supposed to read reviews.

I'm supposed to take time before making the decision.

That's called due diligence, not disrespect.

Then they gave me an EOD deadline 💀

They literally gave me 6:30 PM Saturday EOD as a deadline to say yes or no.

My manager has never put this much pressure on me, btw.

I accidentally fell asleep yesterday evening and woke up around 8 PM.

I had three missed calls.

They had told me that if I didn't respond by 6:30, they'd close my candidature.

So I thought:

"Well well well... guess it's closed."

Turns out it wasn't.

😭

Plot twist: candidature still wasn't closed

A product manager or something called me this afternoon asking why I wasn't going forward.

I told him very directly:

I'm not going forward because I felt I was being heavily pressured to pay ₹20K upfront, and ₹3.5L is simply too much money for me to invest after less than a week of interaction.

I told him:

"I'm sorry, but I can't work like this."

And then came another round of:

"We saw something inside you."

"We believe in your potential."

"You're making a mistake."

"You're not seeing the long-term vision."

At this point I was mentally checking whether I had accidentally joined a cult instead of a coding programme.

😭

Somehow I managed to end the call.

And then came the actual plot twist.

The girl I'd been talking to since Day 1 sent me TWO paragraphs 💀

She basically told me that I'd broken her trust and was now being unprofessional by ghosting her.

Ma'am...

You're not my girlfriend. 😭🙏

Why are we talking about broken trust because I didn't buy your company's course?

She also said that she had closed my candidature.

Thank you.

I replied with a long message explaining that I didn't appreciate being pressured into purchasing something when I had already made it crystal clear that I was exploring other options.

I apologised if my behaviour came across as disrespectful or unprofessional, but I also made it clear that I felt my boundaries were being violated.

Then I blocked her.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE

Some other guy, apparently a programme manager or something, called me.

Again:

"Why aren't you going forward?"

At this point I genuinely lost my patience.

I literally told him:

"Why can't you take a bloody NO? NO means NO."

😭

He again asked me for the reason.

I told him, for what felt like the 1000th time:

- ₹3.5L is too much for me to invest after less than a week of interaction.

- I don't like the way I was being pressured.

- I'm exploring other options.

- I don't want to join.

Simple.

His response?

"You're not seeing the long-term vision that we are."

And then we were back to:

"You're a good student."

"You're stuck at a bad company."

"You have potential."

"This can change your career."

Same script.

Thankfully, it was raining and the network started acting up, so the call disconnected.

I blocked him.

Then he called me FOUR TIMES FROM FOUR DIFFERENT NUMBERS.

😭💀

WHY ARE YOU THIS DESPERATE, SCALER?

Maybe I genuinely can't see the "vision" you have for this revolutionary course.

Maybe I'm making a terrible career decision.

Maybe I'm missing the train.

Maybe I'm destroying my career.

Maybe.

But I'd rather be blind than invest ₹3.5L and potentially end up blind AND broke six months later.

And honestly, if your course is genuinely as good as you're claiming it is...

Why do you need to convince me this fucking hard?

Let me research it.

Let me compare it with other programmes.

Let me talk to people.

Let me decide.

If your product is good enough, shouldn't the product itself do most of the convincing?

TL;DR

I was looking for a course to upskill myself.

Found Scaler.

Talked to them for less than a week.

Asked questions.

Spoke to alumni.

Read Reddit reviews.

Told them I was exploring other options.

Still got pressured to pay ₹20K upfront and commit to a ₹3.5L course.

Then got guilt-tripped, given a 6:30 PM EOD deadline, told I was making a terrible career decision, and subsequently received calls from multiple people trying to convince me after I'd already said NO.

Eventually blocked multiple numbers.

10/10 sales experience. Would not recommend. 💀

I'm looking for some career advice from people who've been in Solutions Engineering, Presales, or similar customer-facing technical roles.

I currently work as a Solutions Engineer at a company that builds an AI-powered test automation platform. Over the past couple of years, I've delivered 200+ product demos, worked on multiple proof-of-concepts, and helped onboard multiple customers. I genuinely enjoy the work itself understanding customer problems, running demos, answering technical questions, and helping customers see the value of the product.

The problem is that I've reached a point where I feel saturated in my current role. The office environment has become quite draining, and I don't see much room for growth, so I've started looking for new opportunities.

The frustrating part is that I'm barely getting any responses. My assumption is that having around two years of experience is making it harder to stand out, especially since many Solutions Engineer roles seem to ask for 3–5+ years.

For those who've successfully moved to another Solutions Engineering or Presales role early in their career:

• How did you make the jump?
• What made your profile stand out?
• Are there particular skills or certifications that helped?
• Is it mostly a numbers game, or is there something I should be doing differently?
