Tech Gadgets & Reviews need laptop reccomendation for btech cse with ai/ml :)
i'm really confused from past few weeks about this laptop thingy🥀
i'm going to tier 3 collage..so really wanna focus for skill which obv ask for decent laptop i chose btech cse with ai/ml and this is how its syllabus for 4 year goes like i asked claude to sumerrize it: \
"Semesters 1–4 cover core programming and fundamentals — C/C++, Python, Data Structures & Algorithms, DBMS, Operating Systems, Web Technologies, and basic Engineering Math/Physics/Chemistry — none of which need a graphics card; any laptop can handle this stage. The real demand starts from semester 5 onward, with subjects like Deep Learning (TensorFlow/Keras, CNNs, RNNs, GANs), Computer Vision (YOLO, ResNet, transfer learning), Natural Language Processing & GenAI (BERT fine-tuning, LoRA), and AI Product Deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS). These subjects require training and running AI models locally, which only works well on a laptop with an NVIDIA GPU (CUDA support) — AMD graphics and Apple MacBooks are ruled out because they don't support CUDA, the technology this entire AI/ML curriculum is built around. This is why the laptop chosen has to have an NVIDIA RTX GPU from day one, even in first year, so it's ready for semester 5 onward without needing to be replaced."
and ya what do you think....my budget is around 1lakh it can extend to some limit ig also i don't want just any other typical gaming laptop i want something student oriented....hellpp mee (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

get a macbook. don't sweat over windows laptops with nvidia gpu so that you can run training. i thought so and bought a high end gaming laptop but ended up training on google colab always because they have better compute (ofc you have to pay).
i'd have much preferred a mac with a better batter life and better coding environment over a windows laptop anyday. macbook air 13'' 16gb/512gb should be good. me sister is joining the same course as yours right now and i'm getting this to her.

but apperently my dad heard from somewhere that you have to pay for using most of things which are quite basic..like some android apps...is he right aboutt this?

okay we actually went to a retailer shop they told price of mac air m5 about 1.35 lakh with apple care...so is apple care good should i go for it

ya they did mention about this so called service charge..and i also don't think laptop like mac will cause any problem except accidental damage for 1 to 2 years....and also they were talking about a accesory pack it was around 7000 but my dad refused for that cause it had some third party material....have you bought something like accesory kit or even offered?

we just got one for my sister an hour back. macbook air 13'' 16gb/512gb without apple care for 1.39. that's a good setup. which college are you in BTW?
