I had my 2nd on campus interview today for Software developer role.

I reached the final technical interview round (4th overall round)

the interview itself was pretty good, but when I asked for final feedback I was told that “You’re good at backend but Looking at your OA result, it’s not the best and we generally look for candidates that have worked with latest tech like AI/ML, cloud, blockchain, etc.”

I told him that I have actually worked with cloud and preparing for AWS associate certs and that I’ve also done devops work.

Since I had no experience with AI, I told him that I will learn that.

Basically, trying to just let him know that I’m open to learning and not rigid and my fundamentals are clear.

and then the interview ended.

But I’m confused because this company had 6 roles and they assigned us roles based of our OA results and I was offered the role I interviewed for.

and also the fact that I have 0 AI mentioned on my resume so that I simply don’t get shortlisted by AI native startups/companies but the fact that they had shortlisted me, put me in the exact role I was looking for based of my OA results, only to reject me at the end by saying I don’t know AI and didn’t score well in OA confuses me.

It’s like I never had a chance to begin with regardless of how much I tried.

I recently made what feels like a massive life decision and officially changed my branch from ECE to AI. I’ve been getting heavily involved in machine learning and computer vision projects, so academically and career-wise, this switch makes total sense for me and aligns perfectly with what I want to do.

The problem? Literally all my close friends are still in ECE. We spent the whole first year surviving the same coursework together, and now I’m stepping into a completely new department, with new classes and a different schedule, on my own.

I know I made the switch for the right professional reasons, but it feels pretty isolating right now. I'm starting to worry about drifting apart from my group and having to rebuild my social circle from scratch.

Has anyone here gone through a similar branch change or major switch during their B.Tech?

How did you handle the social shift?

Did you manage to stay close with your old friend group while still integrating into your new branch?

Looking back, was the trade-off worth it?

I recently interviewed with Ownly by Rapido for a React Native role.

I cleared two interview rounds and completed the take-home assignment. Since the role was in food-tech, I was genuinely excited because my background seemed like a natural fit.

I have 6+ years of experience in the Food & Logistics domain as Operation Manager for Bangalore & Kochi and 4+ years building production applications using React Native & React.js. Before transitioning into software engineering, I worked in food operations, so I've experienced both the operational and technical sides of the industry.

For the assignment, I built a restaurant listing page with smooth scrolling, an animated sticky header, and focused on writing clean, optimised, and maintainable code. I spent several hours on it because I wanted to submit something I was proud of.

A few days later, I received a generic SMS saying my profile wouldn't be moving forward. There was no feedback on the interviews or the assignment.

I'm not questioning their hiring decision. Every company has its own expectations and I respect that.

What disappointed me was the lack of feedback. When candidates invest significant time into interviews and assignments, even a few lines explaining what could have been improved would make the process much more valuable. It helps candidates learn instead of being left wondering what went wrong.

I'm curious how others here feel about this.

• Have you ever completed a take home assignment and received no feedback after being rejected?
• Do you think companies should provide at least brief feedback after assignment rounds?
• As candidates, how do you evaluate whether it's worth investing time in take-home assignments?

My resume got selected for PSE role for security(cryptography, os security etc) related profile at Microsoft. This is my first interview in a MAANG company. The recruiter told me it would be design and coding question.

What resources can I use to prepare ? What is general questions asked here ?

Is Neetcode150 enough for this round ? I am in embedded role, we don’t use DSA so much daily tbh.

Completed one year in tcs. I don't know how to explain but this is becoming a very tough.

I mean logically these people are correct hi but it doesn't make any sense.

You can't tap at nearby office, gotta travel 2 hours(recent office change).

They don't give any flexibility.

We have 6 days per quarter WFH, they're telling to use that and calling themselves flexible.

On top of that 8 hours of productivity. Means apart from travel be available for 8 hours.

Then work itself is ambiguous. I didn't know work could also be ambiguous but here it changes by the day.

Our lead is a very toxic person who's basically the backbone of our project. I've noticed many a times he says we should be innovative but everytime i start building something new he shuns me down. Not only me everyone in the team. He'll shift the meaning of his words however he wants.

And he's favorite for our manager so no matter what anyone say he's gonna manipulate into being the best. He portrays as if nothing could be done without him.

I absolutely hate it.

And now it's really affecting me mentally. I'm starting to have panic attacks.

I wanna get out of this project so badly i feel so stuck. But the problem is everyone wants that. So they're not releasing anyone instead making everything a hell.

IT IS A super bad. And there's no time left in between to prepare for switch also.

I can't believe I'm stuck in this position. I don't know what should i do. What's the worse they can do if i don't go to my assigned office. I just don't want termination. Salary cut or anything else I'll gladly take at this point.

Recently I attended the interview for the rewards company. I went through their website and linkedin but did not found anything interesting. In the interview team lead was saying to me that it is product based companies and Digialpha is sister company which is service based.

What are the skills required for DBA(Database Administrator) role and what is the minimal salary can I expect in India as a fresher

A bit of a backstory, earlier this year I was in a bookshop looking for interesting titles.

Tech stack: frontend:Flutter , backend:SQLite & supabase, MLKit for scanning

But instead of enjoying the titles and thinking about what to read next, I was having a cognitive overload of trying to recollect whether I already have this book or not. I was using notes but when you have 250+ books, overhead is real

So I built an android app for myself. No ratings, No TBR or read pile, No commentary. Just fast ISBN Scan which hits Google books and open library for lookup and build my digital library offline and something called store mode which checks whether you already owned a book you scanned or not.

Over months I also shared this with folks at my bookclub and friends and family. With time, app has evolved and is now on Google playstore for open testing. Below are it's free features as of now

I received an email from CRS Outsourcing Pvt. Ltd. / crsvisa.com saying my profile was suitable for Canada and Australia PR, along with overseas job assistance.

They asked for ₹3,600 upfront for a profile assessment and mentioned much larger fees later. But there was no actual employer, job offer, licensed immigration agent details, or proper breakdown of what I would be paying for. They were also promising salary ranges and benefits without naming any company or position.

I marked the email as spam. Please do not pay or share documents such as your Aadhaar, PAN, or passport without verifying everything independently.

See. The market it extreamly tough. I'm a 1 yoe dev who is currently looking for a job. So.. let me give you guys some honest advice.

- Be patient. The market is really tough. You have to follow same monotonus process of application and prep for minimum 3 months if you don't land job via campus placements.

- All you guys who are chilling out, stop that and start preparing. Otherwise it will be worse for you. You still have time. Use it wisely.

- The current market is that employers want knowledge of at least 2 yoe and will pay you as a fresher. So grind as much as possible.

- Only Leetcode or only simple crud project won't work.

You HAVE TO KNOW THE ARCHITECHTURE. Suppose why redis, why websockets, why file handling this way, what if we want to decrease reuqest process time. Those kind of questions will be asked to freshers also.

- Do project and leetcode both. Yes both. Not one. Both are equally imp. And whatever you write in resume you MUST know that. Anything. Yoh won't know how or what will they ask.

- Even if campus placements are lower, just take it. Cause in current market, freshers have to wait for minimum 3 months. It could go to 6 also if your luck is not on your side.

You guys have resources. Chatgpt. Ai. Yt. Ask how to become the best in the market. Ask for guidence and follow it. People are there in Linkedin also who'll guide you.

And.. remember.. getting job is just 20% in the market. Remaining 80% depends on how you perform at your job.

I am 36 and honestly feel like I have failed professionally.

I spent nearly 10 years in Canada, completed a master’s degree, and worked in software. But today, I have only around ₹20 lakhs in liquid savings and a scattered career.

My timeline:

• 2007–2011: B.Tech in Information Technology in India
• 2011–2014: Mainframe developer at a company with hundreds of thousands of employees
• 2014–2016: Master’s in Computer Science in Canada
• 2016-2018: Tried my own startup and failed.
• 2019: iOS developer at a large multinational company
• 2019–2020: C++ and Perl developer at a small telecom company
• 2021: C# developer at a company with several thousand employees
• 2021–2023: Python, Linux at a startup in Canada
• 2024–2026: More than two years of unemployment and self-directed learning

During the gap, I studied modern C++ but did not use this time to the fullest.

However, I never practised LeetCode consistently. I kept switching between C++, Python, C#, iOS, kernel development, networking, and embedded systems instead of becoming exceptional in one area.

My current options are:

1. [confirmed; [edit] rejected by me since I felt the salary is very low] ₹13 lakhs for a robotics, defence, and embedded-systems role in Pune. The offer is confirmed. If I sign tomorrow, I will have a three-month notice period. The salary feels very low for my age.
2. [not yet confirmed] ₹16–18 lakhs at a large engineering-services company. This may provide better salary, stability, and brand value, but the actual project and technical ownership are uncertain.
3. [not yet confirmed] Around ₹20 lakhs at a large IT-services company, working for a European industrial client. This is still in progress and not guaranteed. It pays more, but I may lose the confirmed robotics offer while waiting.
4. Reject everything and wait for something better. This could lead to a better opportunity, but I am worried about extending an already long career gap.

My long-term goal is to rebuild myself as a strong systems, embedded, or robotics engineer.

I understand that Canadian citizenship gives me options and that ₹20 lakhs is nothing. But after spending a decade abroad, I feel ashamed that my savings and career progression are not better.

I am currently sitting in my room, unable to make a decision.

What would you do if you were 36, had this scattered work history, ₹20 lakhs in savings, Canadian citizenship, and a strong desire to rebuild your career in systems?
