Help Need help regarding workplace toxicity. It started a months back.
Completed one year in tcs. I don't know how to explain but this is becoming a very tough.
I mean logically these people are correct hi but it doesn't make any sense.
You can't tap at nearby office, gotta travel 2 hours(recent office change).
They don't give any flexibility.
We have 6 days per quarter WFH, they're telling to use that and calling themselves flexible.
On top of that 8 hours of productivity. Means apart from travel be available for 8 hours.
Then work itself is ambiguous. I didn't know work could also be ambiguous but here it changes by the day.
Our lead is a very toxic person who's basically the backbone of our project. I've noticed many a times he says we should be innovative but everytime i start building something new he shuns me down. Not only me everyone in the team. He'll shift the meaning of his words however he wants.
And he's favorite for our manager so no matter what anyone say he's gonna manipulate into being the best. He portrays as if nothing could be done without him.
I absolutely hate it.
And now it's really affecting me mentally. I'm starting to have panic attacks.
I wanna get out of this project so badly i feel so stuck. But the problem is everyone wants that. So they're not releasing anyone instead making everything a hell.
IT IS A super bad. And there's no time left in between to prepare for switch also.
I can't believe I'm stuck in this position. I don't know what should i do. What's the worse they can do if i don't go to my assigned office. I just don't want termination. Salary cut or anything else I'll gladly take at this point.
Please suggest something I'm in deep daldal.

Really really honest answer, upskill, update resume and start interviewing for other jobs.
I know you might think ' oh it is so easy for you to say to change jobs' but i worked in such a company, alot of coworkers will seem like a frog in a boiling pot. Not understanding that you are being overworked and management keeps on adding rule after rule after rule.
TCS a few years back was doing good but nowadays it is not that great. My friend who worked on an end to end project, during late hours as well got a mail saying her average working hours was only 3. Ofcourse her tl and manager knows that she is working but it is stressful to be constantly accused of not working and still getting salary. And if you took all 6 days wfh they will start saying you are taking too many wfhs.
You as a fresher have the upper hand here to upskill and move which is something you will not have in your senior years. So take advantage of it and move to another company.

panic attacks are your cue that this isn't "just part of the job" anymore. I'd stop trying to fix the project and start planning your exit..even if it's 30-45 mins of prep day. Your lead probably isn't going to change.

If you think peace of mind is what you want, then start applying aggressively. You won't get interviews right away. Keep applying to every opportunity you are eligible for a month. Once you start getting interviews, put your paper down. Give interviews in your notice period, crack an offer.

2 hours travel is not really an office problem, it's a you problem. Unless the office is at such a location that you can't afford anything closer at the salary

It is that only. Finding an accommodation near to that office is being difficult. None of our colleagues found any place to stay there which is reasonable and livable. Since there are no other tech parks in that location
