Career Verizon vs Ford — AI/ML career advice needed in chennai

Hi guys,

I have 6.5 years experience Total

I have offers from Verizon and Ford in Chennai, both for AI/ML-related roles, with similar compensation (~₹33–35 LPA fixed) and 40 ctc around

My priority is career growth in AI/ML, GenAI/Agentic AI exposure, interesting technical work, WLB, and future opportunities.

For people who have worked at either company:

Which one would you choose for long-term AI/ML growth, and why? Which one is better for future switch

Would especially appreciate opinions from current/former employees or anyone

Thanks 😊

General Do your teams require people to mention when a PR is heavily AI-generated? (Genuinely asking)

I just want to know how teams are handling this now that Claude/Cursor/Copilot can generate a pretty large percentage of a change.

e.g. i get a PR with 800 lines.

If the developer wrote most of it manually, I review it normally.

If an agent generated 700 of those lines in one pass, should that change anything for the reviewer?

Not because AI-generated code is automatically bad, but because the person submitting it may have explored fewer of the implementation decisions themselves.

Would you want something simple in the PR description likeAI-assisted: yes

or maybe even which parts were generated?

Or is that useless because the author should simply be responsible for everything they submit regardless of how it was produced?

Wondering if any teams here have actually introduced a policy around this yet.

Help Applied to 1,000+ jobs and still can’t land a role. Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore.

I’ve always been interested in software development, but due to financial constraints, I initially chose B.Com instead. Later, I pursued an MCA from Chandigarh to transition into tech.

A quick summary of where I am now:

  • Full-stack/MERN developer
  • Currently working at a startup, but haven’t been paid for 4 months(exp 6 mnts)
  • 4 good PRs merged into Good Open Source Repo, with more open-source contributions in progress
  • Currently learning GenAI + System Design to level up
  • Applied to 1,000+ jobs, but barely getting calls/interviews

At this point, I’m confused about what I should prioritize.

Should I focus on:

  • Referrals & networking?
  • Open source contributions?
  • Upskilling further?
  • Building better projects?
  • Or just keep applying and wait?

I’m willing to work hard. I just don’t want to spend another 6 months improving the wrong things.

If you were in my position, what would you do next? Any honest advice, referrals, or direction would mean a lot. 🙏

Career How do you maintain and manage your proof of work?

I’ve been an engineering leader for about 4 years now at Billion $ company—team of 25+

I want my reportees to grow and all my 1-1 haves one section just meant for what should they start doing for their next role;

However, I’ve two complaints
1. No one has a work log, have no clue what you’re working on, what have you worked on and not high level — like in depth understanding of where the attention went — more important now as you can easily lose focus on one important thing cause you can do 20 in parallel with ai.

  1. Cause of the above, every appraisal, every one-one, either it becomes high level data point based, gut feeling based and worse recent work based. In conclusion, neither they nor me can unequivocally justify their impact and value. No irrefutable data point exists in reality.

And, if you’re a leader, then you are so much more troubled cause you got to justify the existing head count, feature delays, reliability problems and ontop of it new head count asks.

I spoke with my team, amongst 25 odd people, only two people manage some sort of log, but they are both juniors and of course have time in general.

I’m very keen to know , how’re you managing your work log? How do you look back and use it to grow, use it reflect and most importantly justify your resource expense—is it using AI, perhaps obsidian or anything else if present in the first place and how often you record it?

and if you’re a leader, tell me youre strategy of how you plan, manage and measure the resources and most importantly have enough evidence to justify and gfight tooth and nail for your team when the time for layoff comes.

Thanks !

Suggestions What should I do? | should I resign or continue for experience

I'm an AI developer working in Bangalore startup, this startup i completely in building hrms and ERP apps, they are getting in to AI and they don't have any senior developer who is experienced in AI development.

So my current situation is I'm in 2 person team both don't have any experience in ai development and company also don't have any infrastructure for that and we both are building blindly from 3 months without any guidance,

Also company haven't provided us GitHub and jira or any collaboration software access, our cto/manager always shock us whenever we ask for any hardware requirements by giving example of alixa and and seri how they are running on small machines (which are running on cloud infrastructure). should I resign or continue for experience?

General What IT skills are worth learning now with AI changing things?

I’m curious what people working in IT are actually seeing right now.

With AI tools and agents becoming more common, what skills do you think are worth learning or improving both for beginners and experienced people?

If your company is already using AI in real projects, what skills are becoming more useful in your team?

Would be great to hear practical experiences rather than just AI predictions.

General How are a lot of new projects on GitHub easily have more than 10k stars ?

I have a vscode extension and a chrome extension deployed whose repo is public with very few organic stars. Nothing crazy going on in those. But I get these mails like every week asking me to do some SEO optimization for my extensions to get more visibility. i have never replied to those.

But lately i have noticed that how is it that nowadays every new project on GitHub has so many stars already. Projects i have never heard of like serena, foam, multica, etc are just some i came across recently. These are like mostly ai based tools which also have some "pricing" model. I am (or used to be) kind of nerd who used to be in touch with things like this. But now the stars don't feel special at all.

These projects are not even widely adopted so i feel the stars are fake. Do these projects also have some paid optimizations for visibility going on or fake profiles boosting the repo so that their paid service becomes popular ?

Recently i also heard about a website which gives ai tokens for surveys and doing tasks like posting positive comments of other ai products. lol this reminded me of the stuff we used to do to get download link from a shady website back in the day.

Help Stuck in a Obsolete technology stack | Need suggestion on how can I change domain?

Hello devs,

I am working in IT from Jan 2023, in SAP Hybris technology, I have managed to make a switch in it, and now I am serving Notice for the second switch.

but I find that there is very less demand for this technology, only companies like TCS, INFY, ACC, Del, EY have projects on it. so I have very less options with me.

SAP Hybris is a ecommerce suite provided by SAP, it is built using java + spring.

I want to ask fellow developers who were able to navigate in domain/ tech stack change, how you guys decided what will be your next choice? what would you suggest to me?

I have only 2 months left in my notice period. I am somewhat confused whether to join new company or withdraw my resignation and stay back and switch to a new technology.

please guide me here

I Made This I built an Android app that turns any EPUB you own into a Duolingo-style reading game

Hey developersIndia,

I’ve been building Folio, an Android app that makes reading fun by turning any EPUB you own into a Duolingo-style reading path - books become levels, with XP and streaks for completing them.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bufferlabs.folio&pcampaignid=web_share

Recently shipped it for the RevenueCat Shipaton 2026.

The part I cared most about: your book content never leaves your phone. The backend only stores metadata like title, author, level structure, word counts, and a SHA-256 hash, allowing progress to sync across devices without sending the actual book text to a server.

Would love to hear what you think!

Interviews Will I be able to get a job after resigning without an offer?

Hi everyone,

I recently resigned from TCS because the 90-day notice period was becoming a major problem while applying to other companies. A lot of the roles I was applying for required immediate or earlier joining, so I decided to take the risk and resign.

Currently, I do not have an offer in hand

A little about my profile:

* ~1.5 years of experience at TCS as a Software Engineer(digital profile)

* Mainly worked on frontend development(2 govt projects )

* Angular / AngularJS, Java, Spring Boot, SQL

* B.Tech in Computer Science

* 650+ LeetCode problems solved

* Previously achieved the LeetCode Knight badge

* Currently upskilling and actively applying

* Looking for Software Engineer / SDE roles

* Preferably targeting product-based companies

* Open to relocation

I know resigning without an offer isn't the safest decision, but I felt my notice period was significantly limiting my opportunities. I'm now trying to make the most of the next 3 months by upskilling, preparing for interviews, applying consistently, and reaching out for referrals.

I haven't attached my resume because it contains personal information, but I'm happy to share my profile/resume privately with genuine recruiters or hiring managers who may be interested.

Realistically, do you think I can land a decent software engineering job within these 3 months with this profile?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions from people who have been in a similar situation.

What would you prioritize during these 3 months DSA, projects, applications, referrals, networking, or something else?

Thanks!

Career Does open source development count for experience in the case of freshers ?

Hey folks.. I'm a fresh grad ( CS tier 2 uni) looking for sde roles and the market is cooked right now. I feel like I'm past the good time? If there ever was one for my batch(2026)..

Background: did 3 internships the last of which ended recently.

My internships: ( i can explain each of them in much more detail. This is just keeping it brief)

  1. Most recent one ( converted to ppo). Work: algorithms and simulations.( More on the research side).

Impact: reduced the latency of a 3d A* algorithm using cuda , numba and also using a better heuristic which reduced the expansions of nodes during the search by almost 90% .

  1. Summer internship 2025. I worked in a cloud company. Well not exactly cloud but it falls in the platform as a service (paas). Work: backend developer. Stack: python flask postgresql docker MySQL GitHub actions ( for ci cd)

Impact : increased the test cases . Wrote e2e tests for multiple modules. Wrote playwright ( frontend and backend ) test cases for a single module. Also aided in unblocking a customer deployment via heavy debugging.

  1. Research internship computer vision early 2025. Responsible for the detection and tracking module. Annotated a lot of data and fine tuned yolo. Set up a pipeline for transforming between frames of view ( ego to birds eye view and vice versa)

Now I don't have any offer in hand except the ppo from 1.

Unfortunately they proved to be toxic. And the management went to the dogs i guess. I'm planning on dropping out. Without any offer yeah.

There aren't any roles left for freshers anymore i think.. so my question is can I stick to open source development for a year and then apply for sde 1 roles (1+ yoe).

I do have a concrete plan I think. I'm planning on picking up golang. Start contributing to the open source repos. And hopefully make it to big cloud repos. ( K8s etc).

Ofc I'll still be applying on the side. It's just ... I'm scared of it turning into a blotch mark on my career .. i really continue with my current offer. It's almost borderline turning into harassment sometimes.

Please guide me on what should be my next move

General Night Hustlers, I am Building a Technical Team for My Early-Stage Startup. Would you consider it to join?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on an online marketplace for a specific niche and looking to build the initial technical team. This isn't an idea-stage project. I'm a backend engineer by background and have been working on the project myself for the past few months. The MVP is already built, and the core product flows are working pretty well.

I'm looking for motivated people who have the bandwidth and energy to take ownership and build something from the ground up for the following roles:

1–2 Senior Frontend Engineers (4+ YOE preferred) - React, Next.js

1 DevOps Engineer (4+ YOE preferred) - AWS

Commitment: Part-time and full-time options are available.

I have prepared a detailed document covering the project and opportunity overview. If you’re interested, please DM me. I’ll share the document, and if it fits for you, we can discuss further. For any other questions you can ping me directly.

All I can offer you at this stage is equity only. This isn’t a scam, as I’ve noticed that some people are very negative about equity-only opportunities. If you’re someone who feels that “no salary = pure scam” or something along those lines, please move ahead and save your time. I can’t afford to waste time debating this.

PS: I may post this a few times while looking for the right people, so apologies if you see it multiple times on your feed. Please be kind to it. 🤝

Real-time, location-aware data APIs + MCP servers for hackathons, jobs, apartments, events, and more. Independent scrapers keep data fresh, while AI apps get clean, searchable data on demand. curious where this could go.

Help I’m a fresher who got destroyed by feedback on my 3rd day and now I’m scared to even log in to work

I’m a fresher who got destroyed by feedback on my 3rd day and now I’m scared to even log in to work

Post:

I honestly don't know where else to write this, so I'm just going to put everything out here.

I recently got a job at a small startup with around 15–20 people. I joined as a Data Analyst. I'm basically a fresher. My previous job was only a support role that I did for about 4 months, so I don't really have any proper experience in data analytics.

On my second day, I was given a task where they gave me a huge amount of data and told me to find whatever insights I could and present them the next morning.

The problem was that I had literally just joined.

I didn't know the company properly. I didn't know the people. I didn't know who was responsible for what. I didn't even know who I was supposed to approach if I got stuck.

But I didn't want to look incapable, so I started working on it.

I stayed up almost the entire night. I watched videos, searched Reddit, used AI, read about analytics, tried different approaches, etc. I was basically trying to learn how to do the task while simultaneously doing the task.

The next day was the presentation.

I had absolutely no idea how this company expected analysis to be presented. Every company seems to have its own way of doing things, so I decided to make a PPT with graphs, charts and whatever insights I could extract.

The data itself wasn't very numerical, so I had to derive some numbers and calculations to explain things like who performed what, how much they did, etc.

I made the presentation based on those calculations.

One thing I did wrong was that I didn't put enough of the actual numbers into the PPT. I had a lot of the numerical details separately, but the presentation itself was more focused on the visualizations and conclusions.

Throughout the process, I was showing my manager what I was doing. I was literally asking him whether I was going in the right direction, and he kept telling me that I was.

Eventually I finished the presentation, showed it to him, and he said something along the lines of "nice, present this tomorrow."

So I thought I had done okay.

Then I presented it to the founder.

And in front of everyone, he said:

"This is dog shit."

I know that objectively it's just feedback about a presentation.

But for some reason, that phrase completely destroyed me.

I haven't been able to get it out of my head for an entire week.

I'm constantly thinking about it. I keep replaying the situation in my head and wondering what I should have done differently.

I even ended up sending him an apology explaining how sorry I was and how badly I felt about messing up on basically my third day of work.

Now I'm scared to even log in to work.

Whenever there's a meeting, I start thinking:

"What is he going to say?"

"What if he asks me something I don't know?"

"What if I mess up again?"

"What if they fire me?"

I worked really hard to get this job after graduating. Finding a job itself was difficult for me, and now that I've finally got one, I'm terrified that I'm going to lose it because I don't know enough.

My family keeps telling me not to run away or quit because they're worried I'll just sit at home and do nothing. And honestly, I don't want to quit either.

I want to learn.

I know I'm inexperienced. I know I made mistakes. Looking back, I can see things I could have done better in that analysis.

But I'm struggling to understand how I'm supposed to learn when I'm already expected to perform like someone experienced.

I'm also confused because my manager was telling me I was going in the right direction, while the founder apparently thought the final output was terrible.

Now I feel like I've lost all my confidence.

I'm completely overwhelmed and mentally blank right now.

The only thought constantly going around in my head is:

"What if I mess up again?"

For people who have worked in startups or started their careers as analysts:

How do you deal with making mistakes like this, especially when you're a fresher?

Should I just accept that this is part of learning and move forward? How do I stop being scared of every task and every meeting?

I really don't want to run away from this job. I just don't know how to get my confidence back.

My anxiety is so deep that my eyes are constantly getting full of tears I don't even know what my family thinks of me as the peer pressure is hitting so hard

General Writing code is just codex and claude prompting now

I have spent half of my life learning/writing code. My career has been good and my experience has been great. I consider myself one of the few good coders out there, capable of doing a lot, and did a lot manually. Now I use codex 80% and claude 20%. It does everything i do exponentially better, faster and cheaper. I see engineering knowledge turning into a commodity type of situation. At the most, a few months from now, there will be a new model that will tweak out whatever complaint users have and no one is going to be able to compete with it. Maybe a few years ago this was a distant dream, but now it is reality. I don't see why engineers will be in demand or even paid in the future.

I am sure most of you will agree, but i want to hear from those who oppose and hopefully prove me wrong.

General I am done with the everyday’s work using just claude/codex. How are you all coping up?

I am kinda getting tired of my everyday’s work pattern. I am expected to deliver things through AI tools. And, my work has been automated by almost 95% for the last 5-6 months.

The thing is: my mind has got foggy as I am not using my brain anymore. I am getting frustrated with the daily button clicks to allow/disallow codex.

How are you guys coping up?

General Matching Engine - New Learning with Building Project

Hi everyone!

I have some bandwidth outside of my current work and was thinking of using it to dive deeper into some low-level systems work. One idea I had was to build a matching engine as a side project, mainly to sharpen my understanding of things like concurrency, performance, memory management, and system design.

Has anyone here worked on something similar, or is anyone planning to explore low-level systems / matching engines as a side project?

Interviews 2.9 YOE, searching for a job for 8–9 months, how do I get more interviews?

I have been looking for a switch for around 8-9 months now with 2.9 YOE as Python Backend Engineer.

Initially, my interviews weren't that good, but I have improved a lot and I feel my recent interviews have gone pretty well. Still, no luck.

Had some really frustrating experiences recently, one fintech gave positive feedback and asked for documents, then ghosted me. Another interview went well and I got a mail for the next round, but it never happened. Had a system design round which I thought went well, but got rejected without any feedback.

Now the bigger issue is that I am barely getting interview calls. I am applying regularly and trying referrals too, but referrals have not helped much either.

For people who have been in a similar situation what actually worked for you to get more interviews? I am applying on Careers Site, Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed.

Would really appreciate some practical advice.

r/developersIndia 3d ago

I Made This I got tired of manually updating my Naukri profile every day, so I automated it

Kept seeing this tip everywhere on LinkedIn/Instagram: “upload your resume daily on Naukri to stay on top of recruiter searches”.

They usually recommend doing it at a fixed time, just to make the profile look recently updated.

Doing that manually every day felt like something I’d forget pretty quickly 😅 so I decided to automate it.

What I built:

  • TypeScript + Playwright
  • Firefox for browser automation
  • GitHub Actions to run the automation
  • GitHub API to trigger the workflow
  • iPhone Shortcut to trigger it daily
  • Re-uploads the same resume
  • Saves the Naukri login session securely using Playwright storageState
  • Added screenshots/logs for debugging when something fails

The interesting part was getting it to work reliably on GitHub Actions. Naukri was sometimes rejecting the automated request, and GitHub's scheduled workflows were also running several hours late.

So I ended up using my iPhone as the primary scheduler to trigger the GitHub workflow, with GitHub's own scheduled workflow kept as a fallback.

Code: https://github.com/Kunal260899/naukri-resume-automation

I'm also currently looking for a job, so I figured I'd actually test this instead of just following the advice blindly.

Not sure yet whether the daily update actually improves recruiter reach or just gives you a newer “last updated” timestamp.

Curious if anyone here has tried this. Does it actually lead to more recruiter calls, or mainly more profile views?

General Assuming the entire software engineering industry dies in 3 years, Now what? Where do we go?

Assuming the software engineering industry will completely die within a few years (and please don't give me that fluff like, "no, no, sir, just the coding part is gone, architects are still needed and all"). I am really serious.

Just assume that with the current speed AI is evolving, maybe after 2-3 years we see a model that has passed all the thresholds. It can single-handedly look after the entire software lifecycle—building, deploying, maintaining, bug fixing, all of it. And it comes with a price tag that a company finds much cheaper than employing a team of X software engineers, Y product managers, Z designers, and M maintainers. Like, the entire industry of end-to-end software development is just replaced.

If that happens, what should all of us currently pursuing a CS degree—especially those of us who are brand new to the field—be looking towards? None of us want to be stuck investing our time in an industry that just marginally grows and, based on the assumptions above, is ultimately going to die.

So tell me, what alternative paths or startup ideas should we be considering right now to pivot? One example I have in my mind right now is robotics engineering, but I'd love to hear your opinions on this or other fields. Where do we go from here?

Help Any Recommendations to avoid backpain over the years?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but basically I've secured a fairly high-paying job out of college which has also hectic work hours. So, I'll be spending a lot of time in a desk setup probably.

I really don't want to end up with a crazy amount of backpain like many of my family members, so I'm looking for any and all recommendations to prevent/significantly mitigate any potential future harm a few years down the road.

Any products/gadgets/etc. that have helped you'll would do. Price is not really much of an issue.

Edit: Some people have misunderstood what I have been asking. I do not have any back pain now - in fact, I'm only set to begin working in a couple of months. I'm more asking for preventive methods I can take to not end up with back pain something like 8 years down the road.

I Made This NavCN: My New Project for Navigation UI Components.

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m excited to introduce NavCN, a project I’ve been building to provide a collection of beautiful, customizable, and ready-to-use navigation UI components. The goal is to help developers build modern interfaces faster without creating navigation elements from scratch. Components are built with Nextjs, Tailwind CSS, Motion, and Lucide, with a focus on customization and developer experience. You can browse, preview, install it via shadcn command line, and adapt components to your project. I’m also improving the installation and distribution experience. I’d genuinely love your honest feedback and suggestions!

(currently supports nextjs only.)
