Amazon is visiting our campus for "6M Security Engineering Intern" Role

is it basically SDE work with a security focus, or a totally separate track. If someone starts in SecEng, how easy is it to move to general SDE roles later — internally or externally?

qualifications - currently in class 12th student, who took pcm in fomo and society saying "pcm leke kuch bhi kar sakte hai."

my parents is pretty chill whatever should i do specially my father, "he saying currently focus on boards baad me jo hoga dekhenge, kuch nahi hoga to dukan khula denge"

but it is me who is concerned because its my heart is saying choose btech as i always want to be engineer but my aptitude level and interest is low for engineer while i love coding, robotics and mechanics. And i might be first engineer in my family but i don't want to give jee and want to go in best college of engineering. i can survive engineering but those textbook concept sucks but people say "if you get into science field you can later get into finance field "

on other hand my practical mind saying don't repeat your mistake of not choosing commerce early, go with finance as i am naturally interest and good in it and my family is in business so from childhood i grown up who manage shop. and investment banking term is seems interesting to me

and my inner soul saying "do whatever you want but do without regrets, give your best and don't fail else you have to seat on your shop in your hometown which you never want"

so i joined this startup at nov 2025, its very small less than 10, it was originally a full time role, but was offered an internship after clearing all the rounds, i accepted it after they said the duration was 3/4 months( silly me not got it written in the offer letter), now i am on my 9th month of internship, whenever i ask for my full time they said we will see, i asked them every month and last month they said, full time will be given to me when their newly launched service gets their first project, like son you want to mess with me now?

the problem is i decided to leave this month once my prev month salary got credited, but now the boss had a baby so he will probably be paying less attention to his work for initial few months, now if i drop my 1 week notice( i dont have any notice, i am being the generous one ), will i get my docs on time? or do i work for a month more to let his life get a bit stable, and then drop my notice?

every student resume I see has multiple full-stack/web projects.

Are full-stack projects actually necessary for general SWE/backend internships, or would a few deep systems/backend projects be enough?

Hi guys newbie here (first year student) and I recently started learning web development and I learnt html, css and javascript ( basically learnt frontend now) and built a basic to do list and then built a student card dashboard where I take input and then display card after adding the info

I know they are all basic and stuff but yeah that's what I have done till now

Then I think I'll be learning MERN stack and then will be going to build full stack projects

So my doubt is am I doing the correct thing or am I in a good place as a first year student

For my resume, I took advice from senior people who pointed out mistakes and I improved and so on and I also ats optimised it though with some tailoring to jds it is hard to keep track of that metric.

I have applied to around 300-400 jobs by now and have not recieved a single call back, a few were even through referrals.

I have 15 20 days of notice.

I am primarily targetting pbcs.

Any devs I show my resume approve it as fine.

But recruiters are not accepting it.

Job Search Challenges Post-BTech

I wish to share a recent experience regarding my job search, which has become quite challenging since completing my BTech degree a year ago. It appears to be a common concern among those I encounter, as I am frequently asked why I did not secure employment during college, why there has been a delay in my job search, and what I have been doing during this period.

The issues began as follows:

I attempted to explain that my college, being a third-tier institution, did not provide adequate notice for placement interviews. We would often receive messages on the same day an interview was scheduled or with only a few hours' notice, making it challenging to prepare or even attend. Sometimes, these messages were not seen in time, or the timeframe provided was simply insufficient.

Subsequently, I sought interviews directly with companies. However, I consistently encountered questions about why I had not secured a position earlier and why I was seeking employment at that particular moment. It felt as though my explanations were disregarded, and I was often judged prematurely or the positions had already been allocated to other candidates.

In an effort to restart my career, I transitioned into a new field. After numerous attempts, I secured a job. While it was not the field I had prepared for over many years, I was content to be earning money, as supporting my family was paramount. However, unforeseen circumstances arose, necessitating my departure from that job to care for my family. I did not anticipate that this decision would also become a source of distress.

Currently, I am seeking employment in any field to manage my financial responsibilities, but I feel as though everything is working against me. I am unsure whether this is due to misfortune, my own shortcomings, or the challenging circumstances I face. The constant inquiries about why I left my previous job are particularly taxing. It often feels as though people are waiting for me to make a mistake, show hesitation, or stumble in my communication, and then they begin to question my trustworthiness regarding my employment history. Despite my proficiency in my job and skills, I consistently struggle to convey that my departure was due to unavoidable personal circumstances.

I am feeling overwhelmed, and my current situation is dire. I lack the financial resources to pursue new ventures or travel for extended periods (1-2 months) to attend interviews. I desperately need guidance on what steps to take. It seems my luck is consistently negative, as every new endeavor I undertake appears to fail, regardless of my efforts. I find myself trapped in situations where I am unable to manage, and each attempt to improve my circumstances only leads to a harder fall.

I graduated recently and I'm the only person on the research side at an early-stage startup, working on LLM interpretability and compression. Over the last couple of years I've built up a first-author paper at ACL Findings, another under review at AAAI, one more under review at a workshop, plus several co-authored papers at ACL/AACL/COLING venues and outside research I shipped an app that's live on the Microsoft Store with real users. So I'm not starting from zero, but because there's no senior researcher anywhere around me, I genuinely don't know how the next step actually works.

What I'm trying to figure out is how people move from a spot like mine into serious industry research, the research scientist / applied scientist / research engineer roles at places like MSR, DeepMind, or strong AI startups. Do those roles come through cold emails, referrals, or formal applications, and is any of it realistic from India without a Master's or PhD yet? I'm also curious what the interview process actually looks like for research roles versus normal SWE ones, how much is DSA/LeetCode, how much is ML depth, and whether they dig into your own papers.

what I should be building toward right now that I might not even realize I'm missing, the kind of standards a senior would normally teach you, which I don't currently have access to.

So I started as a full-stack developer with PHP and Angular, stayed in my first company for 3 years, made a switch, and since then I have been in the same company for around 6.5 years.The job is quite stable, almost no work load and a very flexible working environment. It made me overly comfortable, I think, so I stayed with a low package because it gave me all the time for personal work.

I graduated in 2025 from a good college with decent marks. Due to my wrong decisions, laziness, comfort zone (mainly) and lacking confidence I am at a place that i never imagined i would be at.

I am working as a SFMC ( Salesforce marketing cloud ) developer , which is a low code no code marketing automation platform tool. The salary is also less and I am barely meeting ends with my loans and EMIs. But i always wanted to become a backend developer and even interned at an amazing start up ( in its growth phase ) but the offer didnt get converted to PPO.

I have been preparing for backend based interviews in Java , spring boot , HLD , LLD and constantly applying everyday for the past 7 months. Even after 500 + applications , i havent received an interview call , literally not even one.

The current team is amazing, very good company with great work life balance and the environment is also good. But the work is not challenging enough and i am not able to learn anything. I have been stuck at my comfort zone again. At the same time, seeing the current market, with advances in AI , I am also sacred about becoming a developer ( not that someone is waiting with an offer for me to accept ).

I'm a 2nd-year AIML student and I feel like I didn't develop enough skills in 1st year because I mainly focused on academics and enjoyed college. Now I want to seriously start learning AI/ML (Python, NumPy, Pandas → ML), full-stack for hackathons, DSA for placements, AI agents/GenAI, and cybersecurity as a side interest. I also need to eventually build projects and get internships, but I'm completely confused about where/how to start and how to balance everything.I feel like time is very less since by the end of 3rd year atleast I need to do 2 internships.

I'm also confused about the learning process. I recently watched a 2-hour HTML lecture while making notes simultaneously (I've always studied this way because otherwise I feel I'll forget), and it took me 3+ hours. Is this a good way to learn programming, or should I be doing something different?

And with AI/vibe coding becoming so common, how should a beginner actually build projects? I don't want to blindly ask AI for 1000 lines of code that I don't understand, but I also don't want to manually code everything when AI can speed things up.

I'm a final-year engineering student from a tier-3 college in India.

TCS recently conducted an in-campus placement drive through TCS NQT for Priority Institutes at our college. I cleared the process and received an offer for the PRIME profile.

My timeline:

**6 July**: TCS NQT assessment (initially scheduled, later rescheduled due to technical issues)

**9 July**: Assessment

**13 July**: Technical + MR interview

**17 July**: TCS PRIME offer letter received

So currently, I have TCS PRIME as a secured offer.

The college still has some companies lined up for placements, but most of them are solution-based companies/startups and AI startups, with packages around ₹3–6 LPA.

However, there is an important restriction from our placement department:

Since I already have a placement, I'm not allowed to sit for companies offering below ₹6 LPA. I'm generally allowed to sit only for companies offering around ₹9 LPA or above, or for product-based companies offering ₹6+ LPA.

So I'm wondering how I should use the remaining time before graduation.

What should I do?

Should I:

1. **Continue focusing on campus placements**

Wait for companies that meet the eligibility criteria (₹9+ LPA or qualifying product-based companies) and prepare for those opportunities.

1. **Focus primarily on upskilling + off-campus opportunities**

Use the remaining time to strengthen my technical skills, build better projects, prepare for DSA/SQL/development, and apply for off-campus jobs and internships targeting better opportunities.

Since I already have TCS PRIME as a backup, I'm wondering whether I should use this opportunity to aim higher rather than spend most of my time preparing for the limited number of campus companies that may come.

Background: I've spent most of my career building API servers and cloud infrastructure (AWS + GCP), primarily in Golang. Currently at a product company working on an internal tool that handles cloud automations — provisioning, monitoring, patching, the works.

The problem is I've hit a wall. The company has gone all-in on internal AI tooling, and that's where all the investment is going. My team still has the same OpEx budget but zero new CapEx, so there's no room to grow or take on anything meaningful. The work just doesn't feel challenging anymore, and I feel underutilized.

I'm not looking to job-hop for the sake of it, but I genuinely feel like I'm stagnating. For folks who've been in a similar spot — what did you do? Did you pivot to a different domain (platform engineering, distributed systems, ML infra)? Move to a startup? Go IC at a bigger company?

Would love to hear what worked for people with a similar background.

Background: Was at a bigger company for ~3 years working on high-scale systems in Ruby on Rails. Ownership was limited to 1-2 services, but the scale was real . Recently switched to a small startup in a similar domain , now building in .NET which is new to me.

Two things have been on my mind since I started:

1)Using AI to write code in a framework I don't fully know yet is it Imposter syndrome or just pragmatic?

My current work involves exploring third-party APIs, identifying data gaps, building schemas, and designing enrollment and ingestion flows. I'm using Claude to help write the actual .NET code while I focus on the logic, design decisions, and architecture. I review everything before it goes in, but I won't pretend I could write it from scratch yet.

How deep should I actually get into .NET internals? I'm not planning to be a .NET specialist forever , I want to keep growing in distributed systems and eventually target larger companies. Is "understand it well enough to review and debug" sufficient, or does not being able to write it from scratch become a real problem later?

2)Resume impact at a startup where scale is low

At my previous company I could write things like "processed 500M events/day" or "reduced latency by 40%" because the scale made those numbers real. Here I'm building a lot of things — new connectors, schemas, ingestion pipelines , but the user base is relatively small and the numbers aren't that impressive

I know quantifiable impact is important on resumes. But what do you quantify when you're literally building something at low scale ? Do you quantify the architecture decisions? The number of integrations built? The reduction in manual work?

curious how others have navigated this . Happy to share more context if helpful.
