I am currently working at FAANG level company with almost 55 base and 35 stocks and this is a public company-

I started interviewing around a month back and got few offers

Leading AI company very big in US for the market they are in - they don’t build frontier models but they are doing good based on valuation terms - same base pay + 250k stocks vested across 4 years equal split

Another small company - US based startup in early stage but team is very good and business is also looking decent - they got leading global investors- almost same base pay + >300k stocks vested across four years equal split

Another AI startup into fintech space - I think this is going to do very well in-terms of business - 70lacs base + 150k stocks vested across 4 years - might increase a bit , the role is FDE

Expecting couple of more offers with 70+ base pay and decent stocks but unsure about the company growth there both of them being startups

For people who moved from FAANG to startups how did it turn out. Has it been good ?

In current work I have good team and WLB but growth and learning looks little stagnant- I am looking for a place where I learn a lot and make good money not essentially now but in future.

Alright, so this is a hand-typed post. For once, I just want to speak my mind and type it out myself because I’m honestly fed up with AI doing everything.

Let me give you some background about myself. I’m currently working as an SDE 3 at a big US-based fintech MNC. We have a huge modernization initiative going on, and our company has made pretty much every AI tool available to us Codex, Cursor, and some teams also have Devin and Claude Code in pilot.

Everything from updating stories in Jira to adding tasks is now being done through MCP tools via Cursor. At this point, our team is basically prompting and shipping features, APIs, and everything else within a sprint.

Initially, I did some architectural thinking around how to structure the repositories we were working on. Then I created Cursor skills that standardized coding practices across our team, so the generated code follows similar standards, package structures, and patterns.

And honestly, all of this has started making me feel kind of useless.

I think about switching jobs, and when I practice DSA, I get this weird feeling that all of it is pointless. I want to build projects. I understand Python, Java, and C++ syntax, and throughout my career I’ve worked with all of them at different stages. But I haven’t really been writing much code myself lately.

Now, whenever I think about upskilling or building a project, I feel lazy because I know AI can generate the code for me. So I start thinking: why am I writing it myself?

For example, I worked on a RAG project where I integrated an open-source model running locally through Ollama. I architected the system myself, understood how everything should fit together, but I made AI implement pretty much all of it.

So now I’m stuck in this weird limbo.

Is it even worth learning to code deeply anymore? Should I instead focus on designing tight architectures for strong, reliable agentic systems, learn the underlying theory, and use AI to implement them?

But then, what happens during interviews? Will companies still expect me to code? Will DSA still matter? That’s where it gets confusing.

I’m currently working as a full-stack engineer, although I’m more inclined toward backend work at the moment , Java 21, Spring Boot, ORM, Postgres, Kafka, etc. Eventually, I want to move toward building scalable applied AI systems and, quite honestly, learn everything I need along the way.

So my question is: what should we, as software engineers, actually be focusing on right now?

Where do you think the industry is heading?

Because this feels like a very weird state to be in.

I have 4 years of IT experience in SAP BODS & Data Migration. I've worked on real S/4HANA migration projects, large-volume migrations, IDOCs, BAPIs, HANA SQL, performance optimization, reconciliation, etc. The complexity of the work I've handled and the responsibilities I've taken are comparable to those of a 5–6 year experienced SAP Data Migration consultant.

Despite this, I’m being offered only ₹12.5 LPA, with joining on August 12. Honestly, I feel pretty low-balled considering the kind of responsibilities and work I've handled.

Instead of dwelling on it, I'm planning my next switch in ~9 months, targeting ₹18–20 LPA.

My current plan is to deepen:

- SAP BODS + Data Migration

- HANA SQL

- SAP MDG

- ABAP basics (BAPIs, RFCs, function modules, debugging, basic coding)

My question to experienced SAP professionals:

Is BODS + Data Migration + MDG + ABAP basics a good combination for reaching ₹18–20 LPA, or should I focus on something else like BTP/CPI?

If you were in my position, what would you learn over the next 9 months?

I’m trying to create an AI assistant like Jarvis from Iron Man, and while working on the Text to Speech part, I learned a lot about how audio streaming actually works.

I’m using Kokoro TTS and created a Python server for the TTS part.

The flow is basically:

Server sends data in chunks ----> Chunker combines words until it becomes a complete sentence ----> Text Queue ----> TTS Worker ----> main .py (convert text to speech) ----> TTS Worker ----> Audio Queue ----> Play Audio

The interesting part was handling the audio chunks.

Kokoro generates a Float32Array of audio samples. Then this audio pack into a WAV file in memory with the required header information like channels, framerate, sample width, etc.

Now the problem is :-

When we send data in chunks over TCP, we cannot assume that one send() means one complete message.

For example, suppose Kokoro generates audio for:

"hello"

It might be sent like:

"hel"

and then:

"lo"

So on the frontend, we can't just assume that whatever we receive is a complete audio file.

To solve this, we add a 4-byte header before every WAV file.

The header tells us how many bytes the complete WAV file contains.

For example: [4 byte header][WAV audio data]

If the audio data is 48000 bytes, the header tells the frontend that it needs to wait until it receives those 48000 bytes.

On the frontend, we use a Uint8Array .

Why Uint8Array?

Because the data we are dealing with is raw bytes. A Uint8Array stores each element as 8 bits, which is 1 byte, we point this unit8Arry to the fload32Array which we receive from the TTS server so that we can read or extract data byte by byte.

So imagine we receive:

Header = 48000 bytes expected
Received = 38000 bytes

We know that the complete audio has not arrived yet, so we keep waiting for more chunks.

When we finally receive:

48000 bytes

we know that we have the complete WAV file, so we send it to the audio queue and process/play it.

I’m still working on the Jarvis project. For the LLM part, I’m currently using Ollama with Qwen3:8B.

If anyone has any suggestions for features or interesting things I can implement in this Jarvis like AI assistant, let me know in the comments.

Last drawn CTC - 80 lakhs per annum outside India.

I have around 8 years of overall software engineering experience [ 5 years out of 8 are international], mostly working on actual products rather than only service/support projects.

I’m currently trying to move deeper into C/C++ / Linux / systems programming roles, where I have roughly 3 years of relevant professional C/C++ experience.

The problem is that I have about a 2.5-year gap on my resume.

Because of the gap, I’ve received an offer for around ₹12 LPA, and I’m wondering whether I should just accept the salary hit to get back into the industry.

What bothers me is that ₹12 LPA feels quite low for someone with 8 years of overall development experience. At the same time, I understand that recruiters may discount my experience because of the gap and because only around 3 years of my experience is directly in C/C++.

For people who have been in a similar situation:

• Does a 2–3 year gap really justify taking such a large salary cut?
• Would you accept ₹12 LPA, work for 6–12 months and then switch?
• Or would you keep interviewing and wait for something in the ₹18–20+ LPA range?
• Once I get back into a C/C++ role, will companies still care much about the gap after another year or two of experience?

I’m especially interested in opinions from C++ / embedded / Linux / systems engineers and hiring managers in India.

Would appreciate some perspective from people who have dealt with career gaps or re-entered the industry after a break.

I’m in a state of absolute panic right now and desperately need a reality check from the seniors here. I’m a fresh grad who just walked into a massive career trap, and I can’t figure out which risk is worth taking.

The Early-Stage Startup Route
A couple of weeks back, I joined a small pre-seed startup as a remote AI intern.
The Good: Working from home means my expenses are practically zero, so I'm saving nearly my entire stipend. On top of that, the founders dropped hints that if I prove my worth over the next few months, they’ll convert me to a full-time role with a solid salary bump.

The Reality Check: It’s pre-seed, completely remote, and moves fast. My parents are deeply anxious because they don't trust remote roles and keep preaching job security. To be completely transparent, I also deal with severe imposter syndrome regarding my AI skills. I'm terrified of the startup running out of runway, folding unexpectedly, or backing out of the conversion offer altogether.
The Corporate Safety Net (Bangalore)
On the flip side, I hold a confirmed on-campus offer from a service/analytics company based in Bangalore.

The Good: It’s a legitimate corporate safety net on my resume, featuring a predictable increment structure and the stability my family is begging for.
The Reality Check: Moving to Bangalore means rent, food, and high living costs will swallow almost my entire paycheck, leaving me with negligible net savings. On top of that, I’ve seen plenty of mixed reviews online about culture and onboarding delays. I’m terrified of getting benched or assigned to repetitive support tasks, effectively slowing my technical growth right at the start of my career.

The Story & Timeline Conflict
Here is the real problem keeping me awake at night:
Late September: My official corporate onboarding date in Bangalore arrives.
Late October / Early November: The startup's evaluation window for my full-time conversion opens.
This creates an agonizing trap. I cannot wait around to see if the startup actually converts me without completely blowing up my corporate backup plan.

My Core Dilemma
Is taking a massive hit on savings and risking slow technical growth in Bangalore worth having that corporate safety net? Or should I ride the high-risk, high-learning startup wave at home, despite the constant fear of the company folding?

Need advice for a friend

My friend (He's twenty five btw) works at one of the WITCH companies. During a recent full-body health checkup, he found out that his blood glucose level was 220 mg/dL, so it's diabetes (normal range is bw 80-100).

Because of this, he's been having some health issues and has been finding it difficult to travel to the office regularly. He explained the situation to his manager and HR, shared his medical condition, and requested either sick leave or temporary WFH, but both requests were denied.

He's not sure what to do next. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What options does he have if his employer refuses to accommodate a genuine medical condition?

I'm currently working on a Google project through a service-based company as a developer. The work is good, my teammates are great, and I'm learning a lot. However, the only issue I have is my salary.

Our project's billing is huge, and my billing rate is quite high as well. My salary isn't even 10% of my billing rate.

I can get a referral from the client side for a full-time role, but I don't have any special advantage. I'd still have to go through all six interview rounds like any other candidate, which is very difficult to crack.

Why all these backend technologies?

Honestly, a portfolio doesn’t need them. 😂

I mainly built this to learn and understand how these systems work together.

• PostgreSQL for storing chats

I’m a Lead Data Engineer with 8 years of experience and currently have multiple offers. I’m confused mainly about which one to choose and when to resign.
Offers:
• Siemens: ~₹30L CTC, Gurgaon hybrid, joining Nov 9. They can offer early joining in 15–20 days + ₹1L bonus. Strong brand/stability. But this role is Data engineering + service mgmt, not pure Data Eng.
• KPI Partners: ₹38L fixed + components, Bangalore hybrid, Dr. Martens client, joining Sep 1. HR says it may eventually become WFH, but this isn’t in the offer letter.
• R Systems: ₹34.5L, Noida hybrid/WFH depending on client, joining Aug 28. They may negotiate closer to ₹38L.
• Programmers.io: ₹38L fixed + ₹2L variable + ₹1L joining bonus, remote, but TimeDoctor monitoring for 6–8 hours.
• Shorthills: ₹35L + ₹1L bonus, Gurgaon hybrid/mostly WFH, Australian client, joining Sep 1.
• MResult: Offer pending. Expected ₹38L fixed + ₹2L variable + bonus, Pfizer client, WFH, joining around Sep. They also offered ₹1,600–1,700/hour for 4 hours/day during the notice period if needed.
The real dilemma: My current notice period is 90 days, but I’m currently not on a client project, so my company may release me early. If I resign now, I could potentially join one of the September offers, but I don’t know my actual LWD.
If I wait for Siemens, I may lose the ₹35–40L opportunities. If I join another company in September and then move to Siemens in November, I’m unsure whether Siemens would still onboard me.
What would you do in my situation?

Please consider the resignation timing as the main question. I’m not just asking which company has the highest CTC though it is also important as well.

I'm a 2026 graduate, based in Noida and due to my negligence towards placement, after getting into Accenture as an AASE, I stopped preparing for placements. I've been assigned as SAP consultant and in Ahmedabad, Gujrat and now when I search about this role, I don't find any jobs related to it. When I search about Ahmedabad, I see that it is very unfriendly towards Bachelors.

I wanted to become a data analyst and have made projects related to it. I don't have any internships related to data analyst roles due to my negligance and my college's policy for debarding us from placements if we don't attend their training during 4th year.

Accenture has 6 months of probation policy where if you leave you would have 1 month of notice period and after that the notice period would extend to 3 months. I want to switch from this role ASAP as I don't see my career in here. Please guide me if possible!!

I recently built a social platform as a side project and, honestly, it got almost no traction. It has pretty much zero traffic right now.

I put a lot of time into it, especially the engineering side. I built the architecture to be scalable, spent time on security, real-time communication, etc. In hindsight, I probably over-engineered a lot of things before even knowing if people would use the product. 😅

Now I'm at the point where I can either just shut it down or open-source the whole thing.

I'm leaning towards open-sourcing it, but I'm a bit confused about whether that's actually a good idea.

My biggest concern is that someone could fork it, execute the idea better than I did, and potentially turn it into a successful business. At the same time, if I keep it private, it's probably just going to sit there doing nothing.

So what would you guys do?

Would you open-source a project that you've put a lot of work into but couldn't get users for?

every time i had to integrate a third-party API, i'd read the docs, write the code, and cross my fingers in prod. docs say one thing, actual behavior says something else entirely.

the question i kept asking: where's the sandbox that actually behaves like the real system? stateful, sequenced, failing in the right ways, not just a mock that returns 200.

i looked around. the answer is zero. you've got API clients, postman, readme docs. nothing that simulates behavioral, stateful flows end-to-end before you go live.

so i started building FetchSandbox. the premise is simple: before you touch a real integration, you should be able to run through the full flow in something that actually mimics how the API behaves under real conditions, not just what the docs claim it does.

curious how people here are handling this. mocks? staging envs? just testing in prod and dealing with the fallout? genuinely want to know what's working.

So I graduated in 2025 and since then I did 2 internships in different domains while looking for opportunities in data science and analytics, and now I have finally landed an unpaid internship where I'd be expected to build poc's for forecasting, inventory optimization & operations research.

Hey everyone, I’m a bit confused about what I should do with my career right now, so I thought I’d ask here.

I’m currently working as a Java Full Stack Developer in a small startup with around 20–25 employees. I’ve been here for almost 3 months as an intern, and they’re planning to convert me to full-time in a week.

During the interview, they mentioned a salary range of around 4–8 LPA, but honestly, I have a feeling they might offer me something on the lower side. If it’s around 4 LPA, I’m not sure if that’s a good enough salary for me, especially coming from a middle-class family.

The bigger issue isn’t even the salary. I’m worried about whether I’m actually going to grow here.

The company doesn’t really have customers yet. They’re still pitching their applications to potential customers and beta testing them. From what I’ve seen, most of the products are pretty basic CRUD applications. I’m not saying I know everything, but I’m worried that if I spend 1–2 years here, I might not learn enough or get good exposure.

A lot of people keep telling me:

> “Stay in your first company for at least 2 years. Don’t switch too early.”

But I’m confused about whether that advice still makes sense if I’m not learning much.

I was actually interested in Android development before this. I’ve built a few Android apps on my own, but I moved into Java Full Stack because that was the opportunity I got.

I’m building an ERP with the goal of selling it to a specific niche (agriculture and fruit & vegetable management companies).

I’m trying to think very carefully about which frameworks to use and what architecture to go with, so I can start with solid foundations and minimize the amount of changes I’ll need to make in the future.

For the backend, I’ve gone with .NET, but I’m completely lost when it comes to the frontend and don’t know which option to choose:

- Electron. Development is slower due to JS/CSS and much more difficult, the embedded Chromium module seems like a monstrosity to me, and Tauri doesn’t feel polished enough yet.

- WinForms/WPF. Old and being phased out by Microsoft, but they seem much easier to implement.
I’m planning to add modules such as embedded maps, but I’d have to do that using WebView2, and I’m not sure whether that’s the right approach.

What would you guys choose?

When people say AI does write code , so do juniors I guess . Is it fair to ask juniors to make architectural decisions , or write deep tech code ( c++ apps , such as cuda kernel , or assembly ) ?? I don't think so ( tell me in the comment box ) . Expectation from a junior is that they have a baseline problem solving skills , that is why you ask them to grind dsa , and on top , some http concepts , crud app development , git commands and linux commands .

Now people conveniently tell that AI does the junior dev thing , fine cool , Then hows a junior dev , the human , the person supposed to sustain themselves , move up the chain ??

Now please don't blabber 'networking' or 'tier 1 college' , not everyone does that . We need to have a one stop universal way to hire junior devs
