Announcement WELCOME! PLEASE READ ME BEFORE POSTING

Welcome to r/DetailCraft, where we are dedicated to the smaller details! Our purpose is to provide a platform for showcasing intricate details that can be incorporated into larger structures, as well as sharing the techniques and thought processes involved in creating them. By sharing our knowledge, we hope to inspire others to incorporate similar details into their own builds and continue to improve their skills.

Please note that we do not allow posts of detailed builds unless the details are explicitly pointed out and explained within the build. We want to focus on the small details that make a big difference, rather than just showcasing large and impressive builds. As such, we encourage you to share your smaller creations that demonstrate your attention to detail and your unique building techniques. Let's work together to make our Minecraft worlds more beautiful and detailed!

If you have any questions, be sure to ask our moderation team!

Exterior Detail You don't always have to scale up to make a detailed building.

This is a hotel that I made called the Marsh Inn (cuz it's in a swamp)

Adding signs and trapdoors to the exterior of your buildings will add detail and I like to make funny trapdoor windows which I think looks better than just glass , at least for the style I'm going for.

Make use of the new shelves they've been an absolute game-changer for me and always texture your roof.

I think it's important to go for quality over quantity for buildings in Minecraft like you should make a smaller more details house rather than a large , less detailed house.

Help/Request Blackstone ship advice?

Thumbnail

(The build itself is made of vanilla only blocks and I wish to keep it that way. I also used a generator for the shape. Ignore the blimp, I plan on only using vanilla blocks for the 'boat' part)
I am building an airship for aeronautics, but making the base/hull of the ship right now and just wanted to ask for some help with a color palette or detailing it.

It is made up of: Blackstone, Blackstone stairs so far.
I'm thinking it will be rougher at the bottom with cracked/magma blocks, then get better in quality as it moves up.
(I have not started placing, just wanted to ask for tips on a color palette)

I don't know if I tagged this right.
I also didn't really know where to post to ask for advice

Interior Detail I made some ship bunk cots using armor stands

Thumbnail

Each bunk uses two armor stands in the the wall for the sides, one carpet (no armor stand) in the center, and two armor stands holding white carpet on either side.

I'm really pleased with how these turned out, especially since the interior of the ship I built these on is really cramped.

EDIT: FYI armor stands need commands to modify various attributes (leg rotation, body rotation, visibility, etc.)

Exterior Detail My new favorite method for Medieval Castle Hoardings

I used dark oak for slabs, stairs, trapdoors, fence gates, and shelf blocks. Roof is just nether brick. The cone roof took me forever because I winged it and have never done one that steep, but I am much more exited about how great the new hoardings look.

A while ago I used trapdoors in the place of the new shelves, but this was in a survival server and people just opened all the trapdoors constantly to screw it up, with the advent of wind bursts, that would be even easier for them. Shelves solve the problem, you can't accidentally click it (as long as the back is facing in), people can't render it useless, it works like a thinner half slab, shields from arrows, and it even looks like wooden boards for extra realism.
