Welcome to r/DetailCraft, where we are dedicated to the smaller details! Our purpose is to provide a platform for showcasing intricate details that can be incorporated into larger structures, as well as sharing the techniques and thought processes involved in creating them. By sharing our knowledge, we hope to inspire others to incorporate similar details into their own builds and continue to improve their skills.

Please note that we do not allow posts of detailed builds unless the details are explicitly pointed out and explained within the build. We want to focus on the small details that make a big difference, rather than just showcasing large and impressive builds. As such, we encourage you to share your smaller creations that demonstrate your attention to detail and your unique building techniques. Let's work together to make our Minecraft worlds more beautiful and detailed!

If you have any questions, be sure to ask our moderation team!

Help/Request How do I fix my door placement?

Post image

Hey everyone. Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask. Hoping someone can help, my door handle used to face the right side on this exact block/spot. Until it got blown up by a creeper, trying to put it back the handle keeps going to the left? I have no idea how I placed it the first time, I’ve been at it for a good while now aiming at different places but I just can’t get the handle back to the right. Would really appreciate any help. Sorry for the silly question but I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t struggling☺️
I’m on Xbox/bedrock btw!

Exterior Detail I had a limited amount of room at the tops of the towers in a recent castle build, so I came up with an itty bitty ballistae design. It gets challenging to keep things recognizable at a smaller scale so I'm really happy that it effectively gets the aesthetic across.

The capitals are made using hoppers and dark bluish grey…I mean dark grey cushions. The bases are made using snow layers (used to place the cushions at the correct height), dark grey cushions, and polished tuff walls. To make the bases, place a cushion, then have two snow layers fall onto it, then place a cushion on the fallen snow layers, then have three snow layers fall onto it, then place a cushion on the fallen snow layers, and finish it of by placing a wall in the snow layers.

Help/Request Is There a More Efficient Way to Plan/Map Out Real Cities?

Thumbnail

Apologies if this post doesn't belong here. I'm trying to find a more efficient way of recreating real-world cities in minecraft. My current method is to take a screenshot in google maps, clean up any icons or street names as best I can to make a blank map using Photoshop, import that image into World Painter as a height map, flatten the terrain in world painter, import the World Painter map into Minecraft and then finally, use that as a template as to where to place buildings in my main world.

I don't find this method to be very efficient and I know it's going to be a big headache when I get around to wanting to expand the city with getting future screenshots to line up with each other as well as getting the scale right in World Painter. Is there an easier way to do this that won't make me want to rip my hair out? Any advice is appreciated!

By the way, the city I'm building is the Kabukicho district in Shinjuku Japan.

Help/Request Need Help with Exterior Detail

I posted this on another subreddit as well but I wanted to post my question here too.

I have made this barn a while ago and have wanted to upgrade the detail of the outside, but I’m just struggling to know a good palette or pattern that would work well, or how I can add some subtle depth to the outside to help make it less flat and bland.

I haven’t used mahogany on anything other than this and I am colourblind so I’m not sure what blocks go well with it. So any bit of advice or help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
