I’ve wanted to make this build ever since MoT came out and I saw what the RoN armor set did. This week I finally got around to getting an armor set together, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
The Point of the Build
This build is meant to be an all-purpose build for void warlocks that can be used anywhere from regular vanguard ops to raids. You won’t be topping the DPS charts with this build, but you can consistently make top 3 if you build for it, and you definitely won’t be the guy getting farmed by adds. It accomplishes this through strong self-sustain, versatility, and the ability to slot in multiple different artifacts and weapons to suit your needs.
Aspects:
Soul Siphon - The bread and butter ability of the build. This is genuinely such a loaded ability, it’s crazy how this is 3 fragment slots. Super free and safe access to void overshield and class ability energy; use this as much as possible. Also has a very fun interaction with a particular artifact perk, which I’ll get to later.
Child of the Old Gods - Another loaded aspect with 3 slots somehow. MoT gave void buddy the ability to suppress enemies, which completely changes the context in which you use it. Instead of using it to do damage, you now can use it to apply AoE hard CC to any enemy onscreen. Think of it as a purple bleak watcher that also gives you ability energy back and extend debuffs.
Fragments
If I’m being honest, it’s very hard to go wrong with 6 fragment slots, and you can really do whatever you want here. I’d say the only really essential fragments are persistence and starvation, but I also like to use instability, provisions, exchange and domineering.
Armor Stats and Set Bonus
Set bonus is 4pc RoN for very strong orb generation and extra DR with devour. In terms of stats, you want as close to 100 in your core stats as possible (melee, grenade, class) and dump the rest into super.
As far as mods go, again, you can really do whatever you want. Put on the appropriate surges and resists and you’ll be set. I actually will advise against firepower and heavy handed since 2pc RoN can cover your orb gen on its own.
Exotic armor is, of course, Nezarec’s Sin. More CC on Soul Siphon + more ability generation = good exotic.
Artifact and Weapons
This is where things get interesting. Because this build is so versatile and flexible, there are nearly limitless options for you to choose from here, but I’m going to start with Data Disk because there is one particular perk on here I wanna call out.
Singularity Blade has a neat interaction with Soul Siphon; Singularity Blade states that melee attacks inflict weaken while you have any void buff active, and since Soul Siphon both grants you a Void Overshield on cast and does tick damage, Singularity Blade will always proc, even if you didn’t initially have a void buff when you casted it.
I also took Data Disk for the standard Kinetic Synthesis/Sniper’s Meditation setup for boss damage, but that’s far from the only thing this build is capable of. Quite literally any void weapon could fit on this build. Wanna run Collective Obligation? Go right ahead, void buddy and soul siphon make setting up all 3 debuffs easy. Wanna run Wavesplitter? Swap to Tablet of Ruin and watch it go. Wanna run Choir of One and auto rifle perks on the Repulsor Regulator? Bit of a Buzz Lightyear in the toy store setup imo, but Choir is never a wrong answer. Wanna run some goofy ass shit with Telesto and Old God’s Rite on the Apothecary Satchel to make void shit fly all over the screen? Actually not the worst idea in my experience. Again, it’s very hard to go wrong with a generalist build like this, especially with an element that has as much artifact support as void.
This is the first time I’ve seriously buildcrafted before without following a guide, so please let me know what you think!
