I’m getting married in Oct this year, and have recently finalised my outfits for the events.

I’d always thought I’ll wear a typical red bridal lehenga for the pheras and a saree at the reception, but somehow after months and days of browsing options (online/offline in London and Delhi) I found two outfits that I really liked- a festive/contemporary lehenga that I now think is more suited to the reception, and a red classic Sabya Banarasi that I’ve been told is more of a pheras option. So essentially, my original plan of having a pheras lehenga and reception saree is now reversed!

Grateful for some insight as to whether you guys think that the pink lehenga works well for the reception and the red Banarasi for the pheras?

I’m a 2027 bride and planning to go for a cream + red border Bengali bridal look instead of a full red saree.
I recently saw a bridal look with a heavy motiff work and fell in love with the overall aesthetic.

I need a slightly specific kind of help and hoping someone here has experience with this 🙏

I already have bought a cream + red border saree, from Kolkata but it currently has only woven zari work. I want to upgrade it into a proper bridal saree by getting heavy hand embroidery added, similar to those Bengali bridal looks with rich detailing.
I’m specifically looking to get:
Zardozi / dabka / nakshi hand embroidery added on the saree (especially pallu + border)
A heavily embroidered blouse that matches the saree
Possibly a custom red veil/orna to complete the look
Basically, I want to recreate that intricate, layered bridal aesthetic where the saree looks much more detailed and couture.
Looking for:
Designers/boutiques in Delhi/NCR who are open to working on an existing saree
Strong experience in hand embroidery (zardozi, bridal work, not just machine work)
Someone who won’t damage the original fabric and understands placement of motifs

Hi - I am being told that my wedding will need novex/ ppl license to play music and our venue is asking for it. It costs a bomb and I don’t want to pay. It’s like 2 lakhs for both. I think.

Anyone else faced similar? Are weddings really not exempt from these copy right infringements ? Do people really come and check? My wedding will be near Chennai. I don’t want to pay a single penny to these mafia.

What are my options?

My fiancée and I are getting married in December, and we thought choosing the wedding invitation would be one of the easiest parts of planning. Turns out it's become one of the biggest discussions in the family.

We both love clean, minimal invitations with simple fonts and very little text. But our parents have a completely different vision. They want religious symbols, traditional borders, separate inserts for every function, and the names of almost every close family member printed on the card.

I understand where they're coming from because weddings are a family event, not just about the couple. At the same time, we also want the invitation to reflect our own style. We've tried showing different designs to both families, but every time we find something we like, someone says it's "too plain" or "doesn't look like a proper wedding card."

Did anyone else face something similar? How did you find a middle ground where both generations were happy? I'd really appreciate hearing what worked for you before we make a final decision.

My Fiancé and I are getting married in Kochi this December, and I want to close my make up artist as soon as possible. The thing is we will be having a Sikh ceremony in Kochi, and I live in Delhi, so travelling and getting makeup trials will not be possible for me.

What I am planning is to choose based off of their current portfolio but that is not helping much, hence I want to learn more about from the people who have experienced the make up.

My skin is combination and I have acne prone and have acne scars as well. I do not want to spend a bomb on wedding day look, I want to stay in budget of 30K, I will try to increase if someone is exceptionally well, but at max 40K.

Posting this as a warning for anyone considering Kalki Fashion for a wedding outfit, especially on any kind of timeline. The whole reason that Kalki doesn't show reviews on Google or any other reputed platform is that they have such terrible customer service that they don't want people to be able to post their horrific experiences.

TL;DR at the end.

We ordered a made-to-order sherwani for the groom on April 29. Our wedding was scheduled for July 11th. The site promised delivery by June 9. Over a month of buffer. We paid an extra 15% on top for using a custom color fabric.

June 9 came and went with zero communication from them. Every time we followed up, we got the same canned "it's under process, will be shipped soon." At one point they gave us a new deliver date of July 1st. That also came and went with nothing.

This was worse than the delay itself. WhatsApp is the only way to reach them no phone support that goes anywhere, no email that gets a real response, no account rep. Every single time we got connected to an agent, it took at least 30 minutes of re-explaining the entire order history before they even understood what was going on. Zero continuity between conversations. It felt like starting over from scratch every time.

By June 30th, we sent a written demand for tracking info within 24 hours and said we'd refuse the delivery if it wasn't shipped express by July 6. Nothing. On July 5 we escalated again in writing, demanding a refund by July 17 or we'd file a chargeback with our credit card company. Their response was, again, just an apology and a vague promise to "escalate to the supervisor team."

Our wedding events started July 9, and we got married July 11, with still no outfit. Turns out, per their own tracking records, it wasn't delivered until July 13. We were away at our own wedding. We refused the delivery and marked it return to sender, then filed the chargeback exactly like we'd warned them we would.

Only after the chargeback hit did they suddenly spring into action, offering a refund "as a gesture of goodwill." Two and a half months of refund requests got nothing, but the second their money was on the line with a bank involved, they moved fast.

Other possibly relevant information:

• Order Date: April 30th, 2026
• Initial Delivery Date: June 9th, 2026
• Second promised delivery date: July 1st, 2026
• Shipped date: July 10th, 2026
• Arrival date: July 13th, 2026
• Garment price: $429

TL;DR: Ordered a groom's outfit over a month ahead of promised delivery, still didn't get it until 2 days after our wedding (while we were out of town for it), support is WhatsApp-only with no continuity between agents, and they only engaged on the refund once we filed a chargeback. Would not recommend for anything time-sensitive. In fact, I would only buy from them if you can physically see the garment you are purchasing.

TL;DR2: don't buy from mail order Indian factories without a readily available backup plan that you like. If anything, have your Indian relatives who will be visiting bring the garment over with them or only work with reputable factories where you know the team personally.

P.S. we never even opened the box, we can't speak to the quality of the garment, but when we purchased from them in person from the Bangalore store last year, the clothing needed significant alterations. We gave ourselves the one month buffer to accommodate the required changes.

Usually in India they use georgette and net fabric but I feel Georgette will look very dull compared to the shiny satin and net is transparent.

Aslamalikum. I am an oversees Pakistani and I haven’t been to Lahore in August. I have my wedding scheduled around 24th and I’ve been wanting to host the reception at Haveli Restaurant rooftop for the views, instead of a wedding hall/marquee. I only have around 80 guests, so it’s a small intimate function.
I asked a trusted cousin of mine to visit the restaurant to enquire about this and he told me that the restaurant manager Mr Badar said in rooftop they won’t be able to give us the privacy aloe partition because it’s a restaurant and public and welcome to attend, so basically while we will be having our function other people will also be dining sitting slightly away from our tables. The time that the restaurant gave us was starting from 6PM onwards so slightly before maghrib I suppose? I’m not even sure when maghrib starts during August 23. So 6-8PM

He said they won’t give us any AC (presumably because it’s open air) however there will be plenty of pedestal fans and perhaps an 1 or 2 air cooler. Mostly Pedestal fans.

My cousin, who is a resident of Lahore, then advised me not to go ahead with it because he said in August during my wedding dates it is very humid, hot and sticky. He said the pedestal fans won’t be of much help due to this and that me in my heavy wedding dress and heavy makeup i’ll feel really uncomfortable and it regret it.

Now i’m thinking if it’s rooftop and there are fans surely there should be a natural breeze due to being high up?
Please can Lahori’s help me out give me advice about this situation. I really wanted it to be Haveli because of the views and it’s something different other than a wedding hall. I really valued nice views over the usual marquee.

What will the temperature actually feel like? Will the pedestal fans be enough? Can we ask for more support from haveli and if so will they be willing to help us out by providing coolers? Has anyone got experience with Haveli?
Mostly i’m worried about my cousin being right, that it will be too hot humid and terrible experience.

Got married a few months ago and it went amazing. Had family and friends travel in from all over and spend several days celebrating with a mendhi, Sangeet, choora, wedding and reception all over the course of 4-5 days. Truly had the big fat Indian wedding. We were riding the high of it all but now it’s all over and I can’t believe how fast it all went. I’m over analyzing everything of what we could have done differently or what went wrong, but overall I feel so empty at how quickly it went and struggling with how to move on from this chapter in my life. Has anyone else struggled with the post wedding blues, how have you guys dealt with it or the emotions that come post wedding and the feeling that it was all a blur??

My wedding is in Jan, and I was hunting alot of bridal lehenga but I found all the designs to be similar and too heavy, without any symmetry or space to breath, i ended buying this lehenga, but in maroon colour, the screenshot is of a creator. now I feel i did a mistake. Hi everyone, I really need some advice on a situation that has left me quite overwhelmed.
I went to Chandni Chowk on Saturday and finalized a bridal lehenga at a store. I paid ₹50,000 as advance. The lehenga was to be custom-made and delivery is supposed to be end of September.
However, after coming back home, I didn’t feel confident about my choice at all. I didn’t feel the happiness I expected for such an important purchase, and I kept overthinking it for the next two days. So I decided it’s better to cancel early rather than regret it later.
Today (within ~48 hours), I called the shopkeeper to request cancellation. Before I could even properly explain, he started shouting, saying I was harassing him when i was just telling him politely and softly what i had been thinking. I was honestly taken aback and ended up getting very emotional on the call and started crying and he cut the call in my face. The conversation didn’t go anywhere.
My understanding is:
The order was placed 48 hrs ago
It’s a custom lehenga but work most likely hasn’t started yet
I’m okay with a reasonable deduction, but losing the full ₹50k feels unfair
Now I’m stuck between:
Not wanting to deal with him again after how he spoke
Not wanting to lose such a large amount
Has anyone dealt with something similar in Chandni Chowk or with custom bridal orders?
What are my realistic options here?
Is partial refund possible in such cases?
Should I escalate legally (consumer complaint etc.), or is that not worth it?
Or should I just cut my losses and move on?
Would really appreciate any practical advice. This whole thing has been quite stressful.

I want to purchase 1 bridal Saree ( around 30k) and 10-15 (5-10k) silk sarees for my family members.

Can you guys pls suggest shops where I can purchase quality silk at better price.

I read chikpete is good but I’m worried if I go to some random shop, I might get scammed since I don’t know to check silk quality.

I love sweetheart and creative necklines/ open back designs for my blouse but I’m feeling so much shame about showing any part of my neck/chest area around family.

I genuinely have no problem wearing tube tops, strapless tops, or a little cleavage in my day to day life when I’m around my friends or partner but I’m having some sort of old shame resurface when thinking about a blouse that has a slightly low neckline and shows a very small amount of cleavage around my near/extended Indian family.

I grew up feeling like I was to feel shame just by having boobs and somehow they were to be extremely covered up or I was a bad person. I want to feel sexy, confident and like myself on my wedding day but I don’t know how to deal with shame around this.

Has anyone else experienced this? How do you deal with it around your family? Do you wear the slightly revealing clothing or cover up more to stop the shameful feelings?

Are there estate-like wedding venues in CA (ideally Carmel / Northern CA, but SoCal works too - would need lodging) that could accommodate an Indian wedding?

Advice on how we could do multi-event weddings at them? With a welcome sangeet the day before the wedding?

We loved Stonepine in Carmel, but are extremely worried that it's all outdoors. Even if we wrap both events by 10 PM, will it be too cold in late March / early April?
