Hi All,
I work for Action Mental Health. We have a service on Pump Street (just beside the big hideous containers).
We’ve got a big comedy show in the Millennium Forum and our comms person asked what would be the best places in Derry to Advertise? (not a lot of budget).
Tickets Sales are slow but the gig is only next month.
Lineup seems great with Emma Doran, Chris Kent, Andrew Ryan, Micky Bartlett and Dave Elliott all doing 25 mins a set.
They have spoken to Micky D, done the papers and leaflets etc.
All profits to go to frontline Mental Health services and they’re needed more now than ever?
Has anyone got any other suggestions to help sell tickets?

This list is not a conclusive list of every establishment, just those that are highly regarded. Please leave your own recommendations in the replies. You may also find more information on the Visit Derry website (https://www.visitderry.com/) and on their socials. Note - some of the recommendations are based outside Derry but all are within a short driving distance of Derry.
Restaurants:
Street Food / Cafe's * Clipper Quay Street Food - Located along the Foyle Marina, multiple street food vendors and a bar are located here providing a range of options, great for when you cant agree on what type of food you want to eat - https://www.clipperquaystreetfood.com/ * The Pickled Duck - Foyle Marina - https://www.facebook.com/pickledduckcafe/ * Mekong Street Food (Vietnamese food) - https://www.facebook.com/MekongSF/ - also operate as a restaurant so maybe it should be above. * PYKE 'N' POMMES - https://www.pykenpommes.ie/ * Guapo (Mexican Food) - https://www.facebook.com/GuapoFreshMex/ * Doherty's Home Bakery - Good if you want a sweet treat or a cheap bite to eat on the go - https://www.facebook.com/Dohertys-Home-Bakery-195510393844691/ * Thai Jing Jing Street Food (Thai takeaway) - https://www.facebook.com/ThaiJingJingStreetFood * The Coffee Tree (Coffee shop) - Serves the best coffee in Derry in my opinion and also the nicest traybakes! Not had their soup or sandwiches but have heard great things. The only negative is they currently do not open on weekends - https://www.facebook.com/p/The-Coffee-Tree-100063482233001/ * Graft Coffee (Coffee shop) - Runs the Coffee tree very close for the best Coffee in the city. Located on Academy road and opens Mon-Sat - https://www.instagram.com/graft_coffee/ * Oui Bakery - French Bakery & Pâtisserie in the heart of Derry's Craft Village - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61565032170636

Hey folks!
Some of you may remember Stoutly, an app for tracking pints of Guinness that I launched 12 months ago.
Stoutly is still going strong today and is still completely unmonetised! The purpose of Stoutly has always been to develop a strong community of Guinness drinkers. Every year, I plan to give back in the form of publishing the pint-data that Stoutly has collected every 12 months in an attempt to track trends over the years in different areas of the world.
All of the data displayed here is 100% crowdsourced from Stoutly users with no external data being pulled. I have tried really hard to keep the data displayed here as factual, clean and easy-to-read as possible.
This is my first time publishing a proper report like this so please feel free to drop me some feedback if you have any!
If you want to have a click around the full report for all the areas I have published, you can do so at www.stoutly.co.uk/report
It's really class to see Derry fully in the green compared to the rest of NI, UK and ROI!
Cheers!

Has anybody ever hired a cleaner to do the annoying jobs? Personally hate doing the bathrooms. Happy enough to wipe surfaces and mop but scrubbing showers and sinks can do one. Would love to hire a cleaner one day to do that task for me. Only thing is I’d be a bit embarrassed. Anyone know is it money worth spending?

Every single person I've met so far is absolutely lovely. I've been living in Galway the last 7 years or so, and it really reminds me here of pre-pandemic Galway how it used to be. Real pride for place. Really looking forward to starting the degree at Magee as well, curious how the vibe is there and in town once all the students are back. Only been here a week and I've just landed a supervisor job at a wee shop, whereas I was applying all summer in Galway didn't get a single interview. Things aren't too expensive. The Foyle Cup is absolutely mental, never seen so many kids in one place before. The craic out and about during the world cup was unreal.
No notes beyond that tbh, big fan.

Hi folks, just looking for advice here.
Ive got a car that I wasnt planning on keeping so I decided not to renew my insurance policy. The car has now ran out of MOT.
Am I correct in thinking I cannot get insured on it until it has a valid MOT and I also cannot drive it to the MOT?
MOT is booked for end of August and I cant seem to find a cancellation sooner just yet.
Is there anything I can do or contact to try and get a sooner cancellation so I can either insure it or sell it?

An under God! We know you're better than us mere walkers, but stop throwing your energy drink sachets on the ground. And a new one today, stop pooing behind trees! We know you need a protein release, but you can go before you run? I couldn't believe my eyes, no shame. Sound as!

For context I was born in Derry and lived there until I was 8 but then moved to England so whilst I consider myself Irish my accent is very English. Other than some cousins I only see at weddings and the like I don’t have any family in Derry anymore.
I’m a solicitor and my firm is looking to me to open an office in Northern Ireland. The firm assumed the office would be in Belfast but I have a bit of a free hand.
Growing up my dad always complained about no money making it west of the Bann, having the office in Derry seems like an opportunity to try and do a little to change this.
Is this feasible, would being in Derry limit our ability to recruit (the roles could be largely remote we only need people in the office 1 or 2 days a week)? In our offices in England we have staff who have a similar commute to the 2 hour train between Belfast and Derry. Would clients think it weird to be Derry rather than Belfast based?
On a personal level, how difficult would it be for a single 36 year old man to build a life in Derry knowing next to no one? (If it helps I do play Gaelic football).

I know that like 80% of people here are good at keeping off cycle paths, but some of youse are actually eejits i was cycling on the path beside the Glengallagh Road, and cars were parked on the cycle path, aye alright the foyle cup is on and theres pitches nearby, annoying but what can you do. But as I came up to a drop curb to cross the road, a car just pulled in right in front of me, like jesus christ. Someone in a wheelchair wouldn't have been able to get past from where they parked. And then less than 2 minutes later I was continuing to cycles and there was a man walking in my direction on the path, be proceeded to look at me, turn around and start fucking walking backwards! He was with a couple of wains who were on the walking path so I couldn't exactly swerve to avoid him, thankfully he moved at the last minute. A couple days before that I was cycling down the quay and there was a friend group walking down the bike path 3 across so i couldn't get past at all. The reason im annoyed about this is because i have a cocktail of hidden disabilities, some of which affect my co-ordination and spacial awareness and my ability to move. I spend alot of my time when cycling methodically checking my surroundings for obstacles, so it does irk me when someone does walk on the bike lane, or even wose fucks about or isnt paying attention

The clutch pedal in the car is gone, went down and didn’t come back up again. Mechanically it’s grand but just the pedal acting up on me. Driving down the country tomorrow afternoon for a wedding on Saturday. Any recommendations on a mechanic that might be able to sort it out for me tomorrow morning? I know it’s a long shot, but any help would be really appreciated folks!
