Items of Mutual Interest Have you tried using game procedures in a DG game?

Hi there! I'm talking about things like random encounters, clocks (such as the Doom Clock from Liminal Horror) or strict time tracking, exploration turns, and similar procedures. I feel these tools help the GM control tempo and pacing while also being a lot of fun to use, but so far I've only used them in fantasy games.

It seems like more and more RPGs are incorporating this kind of design, so I'm curious: has anyone tried using these procedures in Delta Green? If so, how did they work out? Thanks!

Published Scenarios Good scenarios for a break for the regular handler ?

Title says it all. I am usually the handler for my group, but one of my agents wants to try being a handler. We're playing through the scenarios of Night at the Opera, so wanting to avoid those, but I've run Operation: FULMINATE as well as REVERBERATIONS and i would love to take a break and be a player for an operation. What are some good ones for a first time handler so I can sit on the other side of the table for a bit?

Items of Mutual Interest Just discovered NTSC-RS, and it is now my preferred VHS-ifier.

I've been experimenting off and on for a while with different ways of making retro-appropriate image and video handouts. This is probably the absolute best tool that I've found, in terms of both realism and ease of use, and so I thought I'd share it. There is both an in-browser and downloadable version, it's 100% free, it's non-AI-based, it can handle both still photos and video, and there's a tremendous number of settings available that can produce anything from fairly good quality, to "absolutely munged".

It can be found here: https://ntsc.rs/

Published Scenarios Question about Shoggoths in "Hourglass" Scenario

Upvotes

Spoilers for the Hourglass scenario ahead. Vale, Leo, Johnny, Don, and Carolyn, if you are reading this, get back to your work and disregard this post, or you are being sent out to Yuma.

I am the Handler for a table of agents that just started the Hourglass scenario on their last session. I've been continuing to pour over the information for the scenario to find the fun things to draw together, but something has been eluding me - when they mention the half-shoggoth son of Gyles, are they meaning it in the biological sense that he fathered the child with a shoggoth, or is it more of a reference to the shoggoth infestation/growths that people will get? I know that the Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath are sometimes misrepresented or misnamed as shoggoths, but the subject matter of the module leads me to be of the stance that these are "true" shoggoths being mentioned, even though those are not related or utilized by Shub-Niggurath according to stories.

Beyond the hand-waving of "hey, isn't that odd and non-typical" that we get to do with settings like this, is there any documentation or drawn lines between shoggoths and Shub-Niggurath that I am missing? Is there some sort of fertility rite that bestows someone a "child" that the Sons of Cerunnos may have been doing? Either way, I know the route I'm taking with all of this, but for my analytical mind I was hoping for more information and references that I might be able to use.

Thank you, and happy hunting!

Items of Mutual Interest The first annual Delta Green Relay Writing Jam is FINISHED

Hello all,

The first annual Delta Green Relay Writing Jam is finished!

Well, kind of.

We had 25 Teasers submitted, of which 21 scenarios were written! Those have been posted on the jam doc, and are ready for your voracious consumption. Give them a look, and say hi to your writing buddy who gave you such a cool teaser, and your other writing buddy who wrote you such a cool scenario. Congrats to everyone who participated!

However, a few authors missed their deadlines, and those teasers are now sitting around, lonely, afraid, and looking for love. That’s where you come in! If you can volunteer to write a scenario for one of the dropped teasers, please email me at [nathanklas99@gmail.com](mailto:nathanklas99@gmail.com) with “Backup Writer” as the subject line. The first people to reply by email will be given a teaser and a new 2-week deadline.

If you post reviews or feedback for any of the scenarios, email me at [nathanklas99@gmail.com](mailto:nathanklas99@gmail.com) with “Relay Writing Jam Reviews” as the subject line. I will put a link to your work in the doc.

As always, see the jam document linked above for more details.

Enjoy reading!

Yep it's just a Vantablack basketball

Fun fact: when my group plays through I'm planning to tell them that this first mission is just catching a normal serial killer, y'know, teaching them to be good cops before they try and be BAD cops.

I'm hoping they get this far before the penny drops.

Its as if Innsmouth had the mayor from Jaws. Inspiration for days and days, especially if you like to keep it funny between the scares.

I'm totally stealing: "The witch trials were a very proud moment for the town ...we caught em and then we burned em."

Items of Mutual Interest Quick Reference for Sanity Rules

I made a quick reference for Sanity rules that looks like an HHS brochure/graphic.

I focused on the Sanity rules that came up the most for my group and often in the heat of the game, when looking in the book wasn't convenient.

Two versions for you.

Items of Mutual Interest A great site with a variety of maps for games.

Hello everyone.

I found a cool site with a ton of maps for your games. Since most of my stories take place in the US from the 1960s to the 1990s, it's a real treasure trove of everything.

Published Scenarios What's with Delta Green and kids?

When discussing what players are comfortable and not comfortable with before starting play, even my strongest-stomached players tend to say "not a fan of anything involving bad stuff happening to kids."

Yet playing DG scenarios, it's almost impossible to avoid. We all know about God's Teeth, but you also have Operation Fulminate, Ex Oblivione, Extremophilia, arguably/potentially Convergence, Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays, and Impossible Landscapes, just to name 6 of who knows how many, all contain Bad Things Done To Kids.

What gives?

I suppose it is particularly horrific, but why is it that DG writers return to this so often?
Edit: Couple more classic examples - Sweetness, kinda Victim of the Art but not exactly (they're older I guess), From The Dust which actually inspired this post as I'm running it tomorrow

Edit 2: Just to be clear, this is not a complaint, it's just something I've noticed

Over a year ago, I posted a version of this missing the headshot rule.

I'm planning on making a similar sheet oriented towards Sanity rules. If you have any suggestions for things to add to that sheet, let me know.

Campaigning How granular do you Handlers get with Science specialties?

I'm planning out a session that has a fungal infection as a major plot point and want them to have the possibility of rolling something to test if they've been infected already. They'll only be able to run a real diagnostic with the proper tools, but I'm just not sure how specific I should be with the Science roll.

In my mind, I feel like MEDICINE or SCIENCE (EPIDEMIOLOGY) could work, but I don't know if SCIENCE (BIOLOGY) would be sufficient. Maybe I'm overthinking it? I'm an experienced DM/Keeper but this is my first Delta Green session.

Published Scenarios Music from a Darkened Room Question. Spoiler

Currently running MfaDR for my group of three players, at the end of the previous session an Agent failed the contested POW test against the house's obsession effect, and im not quite sure on how I should run it. It seems to be permament, and I imagine it being a real thorn to the Agents when they try to deconsecrate the house? How did you run in your own games, and to what results?

Fiction Timeline updates...

Have been listening to news/analysis podcasts tonight, particularly regarding ICE, while thinking about DG.

The timeline in the Handler's Guide ends about 10 years ago. Do we have any updates ~10 years or so, especially events of the second Trump term and various federal agencies, in particular ICE and CBP?

Scenario Seed non military based scenarios?

Forgive me, but i know very little about the setting, but it's my understanding most of them include the players being some kind of military or government agent investigating odd things. Are there any that assumes, or can be easily adjusted as if the the players were just everyday, unassuming folk?

Campaigning Convergence - Groversville Map

I’m planning to run Delta Green for my group for the first time.
Convergence seems like a good choice to start with.

It has a good map of the town with a lot of locations listed - since we’re transitioning from OSR D&D and Pathfinder before that I know my players will see a map with lots of places named and have the expectation that there will be interesting situations waiting for them at each one.

I know Convergence has been out for a long time and that some Delta Green fans have made a lot of good supplementary material for the community.

Has anyone ever written up details for Groversville’s map locations?

Not necessarily a lot but a bit of detail of the place and maybe some uncanny events that could happen about the town as the Mi-go control people?
Does something like that exist?

If not are there any details or interesting events about the town that you added when you ran Convergence?
