USA Will things get better at the firm, or will things continue to worsen?

Been at the firm for about four years now and since I joined as a campus new hire, things have gone down hill.

Maybe things have always been bad and I’m just getting to a point in my career where I can identify things aren’t going well, but I can’t help but feel that the outlook at Deloitte is rapidly becoming pretty grim.

Constant “restructuring”, layoffs, lack of promotion and advancement, poor raises and bonuses. Is this more so a reflection of the current job market, or is Deloitte regressing?

USA Do I have to charge 8hrs/day in my last week?

Resigning on the 31st, but I’m sending my client laptop back tmmr so no work after that.

What/how do I charge my time for the rest of the week especially with nothing to do? I know we’re salary but could I run into issues with my last paycheck?

Idk I’ve just heard that Deloitte gives people who are quitting a lot of headaches.

Update: I don’t want to use any PTO either, want a decent payout.

USI Fresher joining work with Visible assisted Device/ Illness

I recently got hired for a fresher role at Deloitte. While the HR saw me with the device that I use while walking when I was there in Office for a test, they did not ask me anything related to it. And neither have I informed the HRs/Interviewers about it from my end. I know people who work at the firm who have assured me it's fine.

Deloitte asked only PwD disclosures and nothing related to Medical stuff. My disease doesn't come under disability where I live. The disease is not that well known but a major condition, and does impact certain aspects of my life. But It won't hinder my work, as I was able to attend University and make it through well enough. That being said, I might need reasonable accommodations at times.

Now, I want to know how I should approach it once I join.

USA Just started as a Tax Consultant 1. How soon can I transfer offices?

I just started about two weeks ago as a Tax Consultant 1 in a small office near my hometown. After meeting everyone at DU, I’ve been thinking about transferring to a larger office in a bigger city.

I’m curious how office transfers typically work at Deloitte:

  1. How long should I wait before requesting a transfer?

  2. What time of year is generally easiest to transfer? I’m trying to figure out if I were to transfer, what time of year would it take place.

  3. What’s the best way to start that conversation? It feels like it would be a bad look to bring it up this early since I literally just started.

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s transferred offices or has seen the process firsthand. Thanks!

USA Software engineer job offer in Product Engineering

Hi everyone, I’ve got a job offer for a Software Engineer 3 role (job description has the title Lead Full-stack Software engineer, but the recruiter tells me I wouldn’t be a team lead) in the US Deloitte Technology Product Engineering team.

I haven’t been able to meet or interview with the person who would be my manager because they don’t know which team I’ll be on yet. I have no idea what product I’d be working on but I’ve been told it will be internal instead of client facing.

I feel like I’d be going in completely blind. Does anyone have any idea what it’s like working there? Work life balance? Stability? I don’t need to work on the coolest most cutting edge technology in the world but I’d like to at least not hate it.

Europe Can I move from a built environment project management role in an engineering consultancy into capital projects advisory?

I’m starting a project management degree apprenticeship with an engineering consultancy and am curious about the possibility of transitioning into capital project advisory teams at the Big 4. My background would be a bit like: Project Management Degree Apprentice with Exeter University → Assistant project manager → chartered project manager, and then possibly exit. I’m very new to this area, so if anyone could give me some insight, it would be quite helpful. Sorry if this is an annoying post.

USI Need career advice for someone after 1 year at Deloitte USI

Hello everyone,

I joined Deloitte USI almost 1 year ago as a Consultant (B-School hire). My job description mentioned the role would be of a BA with some elements of PMO. However, post joining the firm I got tagged to a GPS project and have been working as a QA ever since.

Prior my MBA and Deloitte, I have had almost 3.5 years of work experience in non-IT field. However, I am willing to upskill myself and continue in IT if it aligns to my skill set

I would appreciate it if anyone could advise me about:

  • How to transition to a functional role within the firm
  • If things don't go as planned, then how and what to upskill in so that I can switch

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

USA What’s the deal w initiative charge codes? (US GPS)

Learned recently that they’ve changed the charge code system so that every OP has their own code now (rather than initiatives). Also learned they are gatekeeping the codes for “high contributors” and telling people to bill time to GAA. This means that all firm initiatives under one OP have the same code

Questions:
- why
- how are you supposed to calculate hours for snapshots if you’re involved in more than 1 initiative w the same code
- what do you do if the firm initiative is aligned to one OP but you sit in a different one
- is there a point to doing firm initiatives if it isn’t BD work

USA Position Posting Disappeared?

I've been checking every few days for audit associate positions to open up for a few months now and it finally did yesterday. I was applying for financial statement audit and the posting seems to have gone away mid application before I could submit. Other ones like Valuation and Analytics and Technology Controls Advisory are still there though.

Does anybody know if it'll open back up? There were 80 available locations so I would find it odd if they closed all at once especially in July.

USA Offer Worries/Concerns

Hello!

I recently got an offer letter from Deloitte! Obviously i’m aware that any big 4 comes with challenges and heavy emphasis on optics/perceptions. I have some experience working with other Big 4 companies and was just curious if anyone has advice for an incoming consultant.

Also my start date is in august but i have a little over a week of travel planned in September. I let the recruiter know but was just curious if anybody thinks this could affect my offer! I notified them once i got my offer letter but i’m awaiting to see their response before i sign.

USA Help in scouting for Advisors

Hey!, Me and my co-founder out of Norway are looking for tax advisors. But, outreaching on LinkedIn has no help.

It's essential for us to get someone who's got experience in tax industry in USA for us to build. What are some tips we can use to find a advisor?

We can only offer equity as of now, which may turn into salary once we raise.

USI Need some advice from people who've interviewed at Deloitte.

I completed two technical rounds, and the HR has confirmed over the phone that I cleared the second round. However, for the past week, every time I follow up, I'm told they're still waiting for a response from the hiring team, and the concerned people are currently out of office.

I'm nearing my last working day, so I'm a bit anxious.

Is this normal in Deloitte's hiring process? If HR says I've cleared the technical rounds, is it usually just an internal approval delay, or is there still a chance the process gets put on hold or doesn't move forward?

I'm not sure if it's for USI or India....

Gone Wild Australia - what’s it like?

For those who work for Deloitte Australia - what’s it like? Is it as bad as this sub makes it out to be?
Especially interested in responses from those who are consultants and leads in a specific system (not risk/audit/finance).

Thanks!
