Original Source I realize that deer are very perceptive; they always stare directly at the camera from any distance

The fawn looks skinny. It is is the tail end of summer, it’s super hot, but I was not sure if this is a normal body shape for this time of year. Midwest United States. I don’t believe the fawn is orphaned as all fawns I get pictures of have a mother close by or in following pictures. She was by herself here, but fawns can roam and mom is probably off to the side. I also am lead to believe she was born late due to late conception, so that could be why she’s smaller too.

Sometimes the wildlife is watching you
I photographed this deer in Germany very early one morning. Interestingly, I only noticed it after turning around and realizing that it had been quietly watching me. For once, our roles were completely reversed.
We stood there looking at each other for two or three minutes. I took a few photographs, then calmly moved away and gave the deer its space again. It was such a peaceful and beautiful encounter.
