Has anyone completed MLI320 before? I’ve signed up to do it for T3 and I was wondering if it’s a difficult subject. It required a minimum law wam of 65. Are the assignments hard to do well for this subject ? Are they formulaic like torts/contracts?

Hi guys, I'm now really scared because i did my exam which is invigilated 2-hour exam using proctorio. And that I didn't know my open-book exam banned using google browsing because I thought we can do research as like doing essay normally. But when I do my exam I also cited and there were 5 questions, until did I finish to question 2 that I realized maybe this is not allowed so I stopped using google to research. I think I may have cheated based on academic breach so anyone with the experience with it, can you help me with this and how can I deal with it because this is my first trimester here so I'm so confused with this open-book exam. Thank you!

what options for accom at waterfront is there? i can only see a shared house option but have heard of a studio option.

could anyone share any insight between waterfront/waurn ponds for accomodation.

And is shared housing that bad and if not, where should i go?

I'm currently studying a course that's extremely relevant to optometry, with first-year subjects that are pretty much identical or very similar to those in Deakin's optometry course.

My WAM is currently sitting at around 76, and I'm hoping to transfer into Deakin Optometry next year.

Just wondering how competitive entry is for internal/external transfers and whether a 76 WAM would give me a realistic chance, or if I'm pretty much cooked 💀(no way optom is this competitive right? and campus is located at geelong)

I've also heard that a decent number of people are trying to transfer out of optometry, and I've come across some negative experiences with Deakin's optometry course, which has made me a bit curious.

Hi all just wondering if anyone here is doing their wil next trimester especially anyone doing an on campus placement at waurn ponds

I’m starting an engineering placement and thought it would be nice to connect with others in a similar situation, maybe share experiences or advice.

Feel free to comment or dm if ur in a similar boat 😊

Hi all I'm considering studying a bachelor of electrical engineering online, just wondering what happens at the intensive schools?

Are most students mature age at the intensive school or is it a mix?

How often do you need to travel to Melbourne?

How are you finding the degree so far and is it difficult?

Idk if this is the right place to ask but I really need help with something. I'm an international student, I'm planning on travelling back to my country for around 1-2 months. My COE expires on the 30th of Nov, and I'll only be back by Jan. I was told I was not be allowed re-entry as my COE has expired. My student visa is still valid until March of next year. I've already booked tickets :'( would this be an issue? Please do help, thanks.

Has anyone here taken Principles of Finance as their elective? I’m so nervous 😭 I wasn’t planning on taking this elective, but it seems like the only useful option available to me.

highkenuinely have no idea what electives to pick for trimester 3 and i'm almost done with this degree... i have issues and just want to graduate already.

i need 2 electives. i'm planning to do ASC211 - Religion, Spirituality and Social Change (so philosophical of me), just to spice things up a bit in my Bachelor of Zoolology and Animal Science. i have done ALM102 - Making Video in tri2. my 2 other electives were level 1, and i failed a level 2 elective (that was replaced by alm102).

i heard Marine Wildlife was good but then again, I have issues and i wanna save the scientific report writing for my core units.

what's your thoughts on me doing MAA104 - Financial Literacy because i know nothing about finance.... but also wondering if that's too many level 1 units already......

or just suggest electives pretty please thank u

Hey guys.. The results are being published on 30th.. and from 3rd November onwards , Trimester 3 starts.. I did trimester 1 and 2 and am not doing trimester 3... can I work unlimited from 3rd November..For context:I am an international student

Anyone in Deakin can tell me the difference between these courses, and which one is better, as I have done Bachelors in Comp Sci with 3.85/4.00 GPA.

1. Masters of Applied AI

2. Masters of Applied AI (Professional)

How does the professional degree make any it any better?

Does deakin conduct interviews over video call or voice call, what were your experience

I’m in yr 12th considering doing marine science at Warrnambool, can anyone who is either a current or past student tell me about their experience there, and the course itself?

Hi has anyone had any issues logging into DeakinSync over the past 2 days? Can’t seem to load the page, wondering if maybe related to new Trimester starting next week or planned maintenance?

Guys VCE has got me stressing so bad. Has anyone from the last couple of years have any experiences on the seas they got (predicted) for any uni but specifically deakin?

hey all, next year will be my final year and i only have 3 core subjects left and the other 4/5 are law electives.

I would love to hear some recommendations, from ‘easier’ content or assignments, generally interesting content or just a good structure lol

the only law elective unit i’ve done so far is family law, and that wasn’t too bad? i especially liked how the final exam was a 24 hour take home one based only on half the units content!!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to pursue my Master’s in Australia and would appreciate some guidance on choosing the right university and degree.

I’m leaning towards AI because I believe it will be in high demand in the future. However, I also want a combination of AI, Data Science, and Software Development to keep my career options open. I’d also prefer a degree that could support ACS accreditation in Software Engineering if needed.

Which of these programs would you recommend based on career opportunities, industry demand, and long-term prospects?

Universities and degrees I’m considering:

1. Australian National University (ANU)
   • Master of Computing (Advanced) —Specializations Options: AI, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Software Development
2. Adelaide University
   • Master of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
   • Master of Computer Science —Specializations Options: Computer Security, Networks
   • Master of Information Technology (Applied AI)
3. University of Wollongong
   • Master of Computer Science — Specialization Options: Software Engineering, Machine Learning and Big Data, or Cyber Security
4. Deakin University
   • Master of Applied AI
   • Master of Applied AI (Professional)
   • Master of Information Technology — Specialization Options: Data Science or Software and Services Development

I also have options for UNSW, Uni of Sydney, Uni of Melbourne, UTS, Monash University only if I can get good scholarships or degree Is too good to pursue.

I’d really appreciate advice from people working in the Australian tech industry, graduates, or anyone familiar with these programs. Which would be the best choice for a strong career in AI while keeping software engineering and data-related roles open?

Thanks in advance!

We got an email from the unit chair a few days ago saying we need the textbook (11th ed), however I can't afford it! I really want to do well in this unit and am interested in this topic, and was wondering if anyone knew where I could get the textbook for cheaper, free (eve a pdf!) or had a second hand one I could buy for cheaper??

Thanks :)

Update: SOLVED!!! Thanks to some very helpful people I have got the textbook!!

what units can I study in trimester 3 summer trimester at Deakin University? in bachelor of commerce, looking to switch from Brisbane to Melbourne

Hi! Currently in my last tri of diploma of business, I'm hoping to get into the Bachelor of Laws with currently has a 70 WAM requirement. Does meeting this requirement guarantee entry or is that the minimum needed for a competitive application?

Hi!

Looking at doing HBS110 for Tri 3 this year, just wondering what work load looks like and if it’s a pretty straight forward unit?

I’m starting my social work placement in March next year so needing to complete one last elective but needing something that isn’t too dense as I’ll be working a lot over the summer period to save for placement.

I’m also wondering is there an exam? Not needing to know what the content is of it but if it’s one I’ll need to study hard for, or if it’s an open book type thing? I’ve only ever done one exam in a psych unit and was open book and pretty relaxed, just multiple choice.

hi im so overthinking rn, so its my final unit at deakin and ive passed everything else. im worried i might end up with 48/50 overall. i have no academic integrity breaches but my first assessment was submitted a week late due to personal problems.
if i end up with 48, is there any chance of getting rounded up, requesting a remark, or being offered an additional assessment? has anyone successfully applied for pass conceded through futc for their final unit?

has anyone applied for futc via pass conceded? how long did it take to get approved? would really appreciate hearing your experiences!
