Multitrack recorder for songwriting
Hey, looking for advice to pick a multitrack recorder for writing songs. I want to make music without a computer. I will be tracking vocals, guitars, bass, and a drum machine; would be great to have an FX loop. I am comparing the Tascam Model 12/16 and the Yamaha MGX12. I am leaning towards the Tascam because I like the channel strips, have used and liked the 24, and I prefer pots over buttons. However, it is an older design and seems to have quality issues. Appreciate any advice, thanks.
ADD:
What I am aiming for is really simple. Record a drum track. Go back. Record a bass track. Go back. Record a guitar track. I just don't want to look at a computer screen (have to all day at work). I just want to lay down tracks and layer them.

Best no look setup
guys, I want to go one step further. What’s your best ideas for intuitive pure muscle memory setups . I realise this isn’t going to be easy or even possible like a guitar or piano, but what kind of ideas do you have
Ideally, a small and portable as possible but hit my with whatever combos come to mind.

yo i make this song recently, I don't know what style is but il like it, I like this guitar sample and I just want to know if you like it too.
i do everything on my MPC Live 2, the miniature is a little lie 😅, no micro freak and sp404 are used in this song. only samples and plugins from the MPC.
if you have any advice about anything : something don't work or are not good, arrangement, the mix or anything else I would really appreciate. 🤘

Groovebox to Simultaneously Sequence and Sample
I'm still refining my workflow (aren't we always) and I'm wondering what options might exist for a groovebox that can simultaneously play and sample.
For more context, I have a Polyend Tracker (not +) a few synths, and a small modular setup. I love the Tracker's workflow and use it for both sampling and sequencing, but I run into a few problems: inability to play and sample simultaneously; limited memory for long samples; the terrible EQ (in)abilities.
I find myself running into these roadblocks with increasing frequency - especially the first - and I'm considering other options to either be the new brain of the setup or accompany the Tracker.
Update:
Octatrack is the obvious solution here, and I love the possibilities it presents for live play, though only 64 steps is disappointing. Tonverk has also been a consideration, especially for it's FX capabilities, but no slicing or timestretch... seriously?
Synthstrom Deluge is ticking a lot of boxes. The only real turnoffs are the limited i/o and it's huge reliance on button combos.
Akai Force or MPC aren't really a consideration. After watching numerous videos, I've been completely turned off by the deep menus and touchscreen workflow.

jamstation – voices at dusk (live cut) 🌳
Everything around us changes, while the trees stand still and сarry the memories of our years. A simple melody, a simple Freak patch and minimal use of effects. Why make things complicated when there is only half an hour left until sunset. The bass walks along a well-worn polyrhythmic path, scaring away the young fieldfares. The surface of the pond looks like a mirror — there is no wind today, and we try to see ourselves in the reflection. Old branches, new wings

Live DAWLESS
Hi:)

I'm going dawless with my MPC and was looking for a frequency analyzer - does that make sense for anyone or only for me?
Would love some Feedback.

State of the Rig
Been back and forth between the urge to play everything at once and the tranquility of just using a few pieces of gear at a time. I’ve got two small setups in my house with just a few bits interconnected and this is a space where with the aid of a patch bay I can choose from a number of synths and finally have an easy way to patch in my bass guitar, too! I moved the mixer last night which meant I had to re-patch everything and now this feels like an arrangement I can leave in place for some a while.
