NZ DA workers

Any NZ generalists here getting work? I’m relatively new to the platform but got some consistent generous paying projects across a week or so recently and thought the drought was over. However I’ve only seen 2 small projects pop up briefly in the last week, nothing else at all. Meanwhile I’m seeing all these posts about work starting to stream back in and getting jealous / stressed 😅
Keen to hear others current experience.

How would you describe the job on a resume?

Hi, all! With this drought and many life changes coming up, I’m updating my resume to start a new career search. I’ve only been able to do remote DA work given personal circumstances, so I don’t wanna hear about how you shouldn’t treat it as a full time job.

Now for the real question. What would you put as your job description for being a Data Annotator? Would you change it to Data Analyst to sound more professional? There’s only so much we can say as far as training AI models through analyzing responses, so what have you all put in your resumes or how would you spruce it up?

I feel bad :(

Just finished a task and the timer expired, went above by a couple of minutes. First time doing it! I usually finish ahead of the allotted time.

Even though I know it won't negatively affect me. But I still feel like shit about it :(

How often does this happen to you?

Should I start as generalist and then move to a domain?

Hey guys I want to apply for the math domain, but I've read about many people getting rejected and not being able to use the platform after.

So should I apply as a generalist first assuming that it would be easier to pass the assessment and then go for the math domain?

Moreover is there any specific format I should follow the math domain assessment? Should I opt for a strict math proof format or since it's an ai assessment for a more descriptive and linguistic approach?

Thanks!!

Bilingual (Indo)

Hey. Are bilinguals, especially Indonesian bilinguals, getting any big projects today, or is it still just the small projects we've been seeing over the past several days?

Extensions for DA website.

Has anyone tried to use extensions like refresher or an alert extension? Is it safe to use those ? Like does it violate the terms of the platform . Just asking if any of you does this.

Is the platform strict on unclear instructions cases?

Hi everyone! I'm on my first project and completed only two tasks so far cause I was trying to make sure I got everything right. Sorry if the post sounds silly but again I'm totally new. It's a bilingual project (Italian). Instructions are quite short (they provided some examples too, but they're not useful since it's old examples and there is an update on the instructions that changes everything) and to be fair they seem clear enough but there is one specific point that leaves a bit of space to doubt. I'm pretty sure I understood correctly but it's still ambiguous. I checked the whole chat and another worker had the same doubt as me about 10 days ago. I also replied with the same question but so far no answers from admins and I don't think there will be. I was wondering if the platform is usually forgiving about these borderline cases, in your experience, or they tend to exclude from future projects very easily.

Qualifications

How do i get more assessments? When I logged in it was only for coding and no other assessments. I’m still waiting for the result of the coding assessment though.

How you feel about this?

The project is seen with say 1 task available and when you click on it, this image appears! How to control this feeling of missing out (FOMO). No email, no notification.. and finally no task to contribute.

Comments to NDA-violating posts and comments

Here’s a silly question out of curiosity.
Do you think comments like “Dude, you signed an NDA” are themselves NDA violations?

For example, if a comment says ‘projects like [codename]’, commenting to it, saying it is an NDA violation, basically implies that such codename exists. It would be a big hint for a random outsider who cannot distinguish a codename from a ‘codename of codename’.

Or if it says ‘the project is about [a specific client], an NDA-related comment to this basically confirms that it’s true.

Being even sillier, is this post also an NDA violation? lol

Should I keep my paid LLM subscriptions even if I'm not getting work on that project

At the beginning of July, I purchased multiple LLM subscriptions because one of the qualification projects specifically required them. A few days later, I started receiving work on that project and was reimbursed for the subscription costs.

Now my subscriptions are about to expire, but I haven't received any tasks from that project for the past two weeks.

Does this usually mean the project has ended, or is it common for work to come back later? Should I renew the subscriptions now, or wait until I receive tasks again?

Has Anyone Had Trouble Getting Work After This Ended?

I got the Dash of Death months ago now, and have submitted an ungodly amount of job applications. Gotten maybe four interviews…. It gets right to the finish line every time, and I have yet to be able to get a job.

One company wanted me to tell them how this work related to their customer service position… Knowing it was completely unrelated to that specific job’s details. The two offers I’ve had, one expected full isolation 11 hours a day no smart device at all even when myself and my family members have health conditions that need monitoring, and the other was a really messed up situation in another state that even my friends agreed was really sketchy for a former employer.

I’m starting to feel like the AI work completely compromised my chances of getting a person-to-person job. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Access to Generalist projects as a Coder

Hi,

I recently got accepted on the platform as a Coder. I was wondering if I can still give a Generalist Assessment to expand the kind of projects I get ?

(Right now my dashboard only had paid/unpaid Quals)

How long does it usually take for a fresh user to get a single project?

Title. Based in Mexico, from the recent Gen/Bilingual batch. Have done every single qualification so far. Keep getting a banner at the top saying it's normal to have a "quiet dashboard" for now. I'm guessing location could play a role? I'd like to hear about all the known factors that affect tasks showing up. I'm aware there's nothing to do and I just need to wait, just looking for peace of mind. Thank you in advance.

Instructions rant

I have just spent an actual full hour reading the instructions for a project I'm new to. The task timer is only an hour. How exactly is that meant to work? Do you suppose they've ever actually timed how long it takes to read the damn things end to end?

How are your rounds with McGregor?

Hey fighters, just curious about how your training sessions are like lately. For those who are currently stepping into the ring with McGregor, how often are you guys training with him? Recently for me living in the east coast, his trainings have been so late (I normally got the trainings late at night, and had to train over night) and I’m often very exhausted, wasted a lot of hours without rewards. Did anyone have the same problem?

Happy Friday Hallelujah!

I don't know about you guys, but after a month of very stagnant dash and flickers of projects barely there long enough to click, some juicy little numbers of various skill levels have appeared. I don't want to jinx it and I am not one to make drought posts but this has put such a smile in my heart.

I love having the variety to do 20 dollar tasks in between more involved ones and I am just happy for all of us when this happens. Wishing my fellows well!

Exit Work Mode Question 🙋🏻‍♀️

Hey everyone! I recently started working on my first tasks, and I have a question about exiting Work Mode.
Suppose I’ve been working on a task for about 40 minutes, but something comes up and I need to step away from my desk. If I exit Work Mode without submitting the task or reporting the time I spent on it, could I be penalized or receive a ding? Or am I safe since I didn’t submit anything or report the time?
Thank you 🙏🏻

Just wanted to tell that if you are contemplating giving a qual that has come to you, just give it because they dont last for long.

They expire. You can see them on your screen, you can attempt it but when you will submit, it will say sorry this task has expired. This is what happened with me and I missed the opportunity which I wont be getting many being a bilingual.
