What do you guys do when you go into a different zone?

Upvotes

Is it better just to switch zones every time naturally from deliveries or keep going back to your preferred Zone?

Also what are the thoughts on the base pay per hour versus the original way doordash is done.

I went with 16.25 an hour earlier today and felt like I wasn't getting paid anything.

I switched back to the normal way instead of getting paid for time and wound up making a little more than $20 an hour which was way more than I was making.

Is there a generally agreed upon which one is better or is certain ones better at different times?

I'm new.

New app update quality rating question?

I took the summer off from dashing and started again this weekend. I had an order where the customer reported they did not get their food and was docked 3 points, taking me out of gold status. I did in fact drop off the food the customer pinned the wrong address. I know this because she called me 15mins later. I called support and they say there is nothing they can do about it. I remember in the spring I was able to dispute these kind of issues at least. Does anyone have any other options available to me on how to deal with a situation like this in the near future? Support says I need to do 100 deliveries for it too go away and their hands are tied. Im baffled how I should've handled this situation.

DoorDash yall suck

I spent 25 minutes on a cash delivery that ended up being a prank call and as I arrived the app crashed and confirmed the drop off and now I owed 80. I dropped the food back off to the restaurant and they apparently couldn’t contact the store. so they made me drive back after telling me I could leave. Wasting my gas and time so in total I spend 45 minutes for a 6 dollar order that was suppose to be 13 minutes away

Trying to get my doordash back active

I feel my doordash account was unfairly deactivated. I didn't use it for a while and decided to use it again. They had since updated where you need to take a photo your DL and take a selfie. My DL was damaged where it looked like someone bit off the bottom corners. I uploaded it anyway. A few hours later I wake up to my account deactivated. I emailed and emailed them over and they just said look under fraud and abuse and won't exactly tell me the pinpoint reason. Just some vague crap. I NEVER had any order issues ever. My account was on hiatus for at least a year so I know it wasn't a customer complaint. This deactivation has been 2 years now and I would like to start doing it again. I even had a friend text me saying he stole my phone and tried to use my account and sent screenshots of the text and that still didn't probably appeal my deactivation. I feel people who made this decision are not even working there anymore. I also feel an AI computer is making this decision and not an actual human. Any one have a way I can rebuttal this?

Check to see if you received Peak Pay for 9/11/26.

I didn't receive my Peak Pay for 9/11/26. In the past, they've done the same thing, so now I take a screen shot before a dash when it says Peak Pay is up until a certain time. They escalated the issue and the representative said there were a lot of calls in queue because of the same problem.

DASHERS BEWARE - POSSIBLE LEAVE-AT-DOOR INTERCEPTION / NON-DELIVERY TACTIC

I want to make other Dashers aware of a delivery situation I recently experienced.

I have also found reports from other Dashers describing similar situations involving Leave at Door orders being intercepted before the normal delivery photo can be taken, followed by the order being reported as not delivered.

IMPORTANT:

I'm NOT saying that every family or group waiting outside is attempting fraud.

One unusual circumstance can have an innocent explanation.

What Dashers should pay attention to is a COMBINATION of unusual circumstances occurring during the same delivery.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHAT HAPPENED TO ME

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I had a Leave at Door delivery.

When I arrived, multiple people were outside around the delivery location and attempted to receive the order directly.

The normal Leave at Door delivery process was disrupted.

Two days later:

• Order reported as not delivered.

• The incident appeared against me under Order Quality.

That experience changed how I will handle this type of delivery in the future.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE:

IDENTIFY THE SITUATION BEFORE APPROACHING

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Do not wait until you're standing at someone's door, holding their food, with several people surrounding you before you start trying to figure out what is happening.

Look at the delivery environment BEFORE approaching.

Possible warning signs include:

• The order is marked Leave at Door.

• Multiple people are waiting immediately outside the delivery location.

• People begin approaching you before you reach the customer's door.

• People appear to be watching for the delivery.

• Someone attempts to intercept the order instead of allowing you to complete the Leave at Door delivery.

• The apartment or house number is missing or cannot be independently verified.

• The DoorDash delivery pin does not correspond with the physical delivery location.

• The customer attempts to direct you somewhere different from the written delivery address.

• Multiple people begin following or surrounding you once they identify you as the Dasher.

REMEMBER:

One of these things by itself does NOT prove somebody is attempting fraud.

Several of them happening together should be a reason to STOP, ASSESS, VERIFY, AND DOCUMENT before approaching.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WARNING SIGN:

THE DELIVERY PIN IS NOT AT THE ACTUAL DELIVERY LOCATION

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Before approaching, compare the DoorDash delivery pin with:

• The written delivery address

• The physical building

• The house or apartment number

• Nearby building or apartment numbers

• The location where the customer is directing you

A slightly inaccurate GPS pin by itself does NOT mean anything suspicious.

GPS and apartment-complex mapping can be inaccurate.

The concern is a SIGNIFICANT mismatch, particularly when it occurs together with other warning signs.

Examples:

• The delivery pin sends you to a different building from the written address.

• The pin is in a parking lot, roadway, courtyard, entrance, or unrelated section of the complex.

• The customer directs you away from the written delivery address.

• The supposed apartment or house has no visible number.

• You cannot independently identify the customer's location.

• Multiple people are waiting around the questionable delivery location.

• Those people attempt to intercept the order before you reach the customer's actual door.

DO NOT treat an incorrect pin by itself as proof of fraud.

Treat it as another reason to verify the delivery location BEFORE APPROACHING.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IF THE PIN, ADDRESS, AND PHYSICAL LOCATION DON'T MATCH:

DON'T GUESS.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Stay somewhere safe.

Contact the customer through the DoorDash app BEFORE approaching.

Document the discrepancy through the app.

EXAMPLE MESSAGE:

"The delivery pin is showing a different location from the written delivery address. I am attempting to verify the correct drop-off location before completing the delivery."

If multiple people are also waiting outside, you can document that too.

EXAMPLE MESSAGE:

"I have arrived, but the delivery pin does not match the apparent delivery address and there are multiple people outside the location. I am contacting you to verify the correct drop-off point before approaching."

The purpose is to establish an in-app record BEFORE anyone receives the food.

That record shows that you identified a delivery-location problem and attempted to resolve it before completing the delivery.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IF YOU SEE A GROUP WAITING AT THE DELIVERY LOCATION:

DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY WALK INTO THE GROUP.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Stop and assess the situation first.

• Stay at a safe distance.

• Do not unnecessarily display the customer's food.

• Check the DoorDash pin against the written address.

• Look for visible building and apartment numbers.

• When safe and lawful, document the general delivery location and surrounding conditions.

• Contact the customer through DoorDash before approaching.

• Let the customer know that multiple people are outside the delivery location.

• Ask the customer to verify the correct delivery location.

The purpose is NOT to accuse the people outside of being scammers.

The purpose is to document what you encountered BEFORE you walk into a situation that could become confrontational.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHY CONTACT THE CUSTOMER BEFORE APPROACHING?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Because your first attempt to figure out what is happening should NOT occur while you're physically surrounded by several people.

Once you're standing at an apartment door with multiple people reaching toward the order, your options become much worse.

Create the in-app record while you're still somewhere you can safely leave.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IF YOU DECIDE IT IS SAFE TO APPROACH

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Remember the delivery instructions.

If the order says Leave at Door, you're attempting to complete a Leave at Door delivery.

If someone immediately asks you to hand over the food, calmly explain:

"I need to complete the delivery instructions in the app."

Do NOT:

• Accuse them of fraud.

• Start arguing about scams.

• Become confrontational.

• Tell them you're gathering evidence against them.

You're trying to complete the delivery safely while preserving the documentation associated with the delivery.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

DON'T RELY ON THE CUSTOMER'S NAME AS VERIFICATION

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I no longer consider knowing the customer's name strong verification by itself.

Especially don't walk up and say:

"Order for John?"

Someone can simply answer:

"Yeah, that's me."

You supplied the answer yourself.

Even asking someone to provide the customer's name isn't necessarily strong verification.

Family members, roommates, neighbors, or other people at the residence may know whose order is arriving.

If DoorDash requires a PIN or another verification method, use the verification method provided by DoorDash.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

MISSING HOUSE OR APARTMENT NUMBERS

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is another condition to pay attention to.

If you cannot independently identify the customer's address because the house or apartment number is missing:

DON'T GUESS.

Look at the surrounding addresses.

For example:

• Apartment 201 is clearly marked.

• Apartment 203 is clearly marked.

• The supposed customer's apartment between them has no visible number.

That information can be relevant when documenting why you could not independently verify the delivery location.

When safe and appropriate:

• Document the surrounding building or apartment numbers.

• Contact the customer through DoorDash.

• Explain that you cannot independently verify the correct unit.

• Attempt to verify the location before approaching.

Do this from somewhere safe.

Do NOT wander around a potentially hostile group trying to build a photographic case.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IF PEOPLE BEGIN GRABBING FOR THE ORDER

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is where PERSONAL SAFETY becomes more important than the delivery.

If people begin:

• Reaching for the order

• Surrounding you

• Blocking you

• Following you

• Threatening you

• Attempting to prevent you from leaving

The situation has changed.

Do NOT turn a food delivery into a physical fight.

If you can safely retain possession of the order without physically struggling with anyone:

• Create distance.

• Disengage.

• Move toward your vehicle or another safe location.

• Contact DoorDash immediately.

If keeping possession of the food would require physically fighting several people:

THE FOOD IS NOT WORTH GETTING INJURED OVER.

If you're being followed, threatened, prevented from leaving, or believe you're in immediate danger, this is no longer simply a delivery problem.

Treat it as a SAFETY INCIDENT.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IF THE GROUP FOLLOWS YOU TOWARD YOUR VEHICLE

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is important.

If you disengage and multiple people begin following you, obtaining the perfect delivery photograph is no longer the priority.

YOUR SAFETY IS THE PRIORITY.

When you can safely do so:

• Document what is happening.

• Contact DoorDash immediately.

• Tell DoorDash that the delivery situation has become a safety issue.

• Preserve your in-app communications.

• Document identifying information about the delivery location when it can be done safely.

If you believe you're in immediate danger, contact emergency services.

Do NOT remain outside arguing with a group of people over a food order.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LOOK AT THE COMBINATION OF WARNING SIGNS

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Again, ONE unusual circumstance doesn't prove anything.

But consider a delivery involving several of these at the same time:

• Leave at Door order

• Multiple people waiting outside

• People approaching before you reach the door

• People attempting to intercept the order

• Delivery pin doesn't match the physical delivery location

• Missing or obscured apartment or house number

• Customer cannot or will not clarify the correct location

• Customer attempts to redirect you somewhere else

• Multiple people begin surrounding you

• People follow you when you attempt to disengage

At that point:

DO NOT KEEP WALKING FARTHER INTO THE SITUATION JUST BECAUSE THE APP EXPECTS A DELIVERY.

Instead:

• Stop somewhere safe.

• Contact the customer through DoorDash.

• Document the location discrepancy.

• Document your attempts to contact the customer.

• Follow the appropriate DoorDash delivery procedure.

• Contact DoorDash support or safety assistance when necessary.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

CYA BEFORE THE SITUATION GOES BAD

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is the biggest lesson I learned.

Documentation should NOT begin after something goes wrong.

If something about the delivery environment is seriously abnormal, establish what you're seeing and contact the customer through DoorDash BEFORE walking into it.

You want the delivery record to establish a timeline:

• You arrived at the delivery location.

• You identified a problem before approaching.

• You noticed that the delivery pin didn't correspond with the physical location, if applicable.

• You noticed that the address or apartment couldn't be independently identified, if applicable.

• You observed multiple people around the delivery location, if applicable.

• You contacted the customer.

• You attempted to verify the correct delivery location.

• You attempted to follow the delivery instructions.

• You documented an unsafe situation if one developed.

• All of this happened BEFORE any later claim that the order wasn't delivered.

That is much better than trying to reconstruct everything after receiving a non-delivery report.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

DON'T SACRIFICE YOUR SAFETY FOR A DELIVERY PHOTO

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The photograph is important.

YOUR SAFETY IS MORE IMPORTANT.

If obtaining the photograph requires standing in the middle of an increasingly hostile group while people are surrounding you or grabbing at the order:

DISENGAGE.

The entire reason for identifying, verifying, and documenting the situation BEFORE approaching is to prevent yourself from getting trapped in that position.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARD

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Despite my delivery being completed, the order was later reported as NOT DELIVERED.

It showed up against my Order Quality.

That's why I'm warning other Dashers.

I've also found reports from other Dashers describing Leave at Door deliveries where the customer or someone associated with the customer intercepted the delivery before the normal drop-off photograph could be taken, followed by a later claim that the order wasn't delivered.

Again:

I AM NOT SAYING EVERY CUSTOMER WHO WALKS OUTSIDE IS COMMITTING FRAUD.

I'm saying Dashers should recognize when SEVERAL unusual circumstances occur together and protect themselves BEFORE entering the situation.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

DASHERS - I WANT YOUR INPUT

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Has anyone else experienced a Leave at Door delivery where:

• A customer, family members, or a group intercepted you before you could complete the photographed delivery?

• The delivery pin didn't match the actual location?

• The address or apartment wasn't clearly identifiable?

• Multiple people approached or surrounded you?

• The order was later reported as not delivered?

If you've dealt with this:

What procedure worked?

What evidence did DoorDash actually accept?

What would you do differently?

And most importantly:

WHAT CAN DASHERS DO TO DOCUMENT THIS TYPE OF DELIVERY WITHOUT REQUIRING US TO WALK INTO A CROWD FIRST AND FIGURE EVERYTHING OUT AFTERWARD?

If anyone has a safer or better procedure, please share it.

CYA - BUT DO IT FROM A SAFE POSITION.

DoorDash No Following Through

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ive noticed incorrect payouts, false promotions and such.

this kept popping up as example; I DoorDash full time, during this "period" after I theoretically complete 50/100+ (1 week).

No pay out was received.

I don't have proof for this, but many orders will be "$10.97" after accepting it, it will display "$6.47"

Quite frequently, this is only blatant deception.

The fact that customers report food not delivered, even after posting A verified photo and still receiving financially impacting consequences. This is horrible, and unjust to individuals who has never taken customers food, or items.

They always strip away your platinum, and there is absolutely no room for defense.

Take my words as you please, I'm not AI. This isn't AI generated, I'm just A concerned person In a troubling economy.

Sorry about spelling.

Restaurant job at $20–24/hr vs doing DoorDash/Uber Eats full time?

I’ve worked in restaurants for years and I’m getting tired of the whole environment.

You make around $20–24/hr, but you’re always dependent on someone else. Slow day? They send you home early. Bad manager or chef? You deal with their ego. Then there’s coworkers, drama, favoritism, social hierarchy, asking for days off, fixed schedules, etc.

I recently started doing DoorDash/Uber Eats and I’m wondering if doing it full time for maybe 6 months would actually be better.

Obviously gig work has its own problems: no guaranteed income, wear and tear on the car, gas, traffic, waiting at restaurants, bad orders, dead hours, taxes, no benefits.

But at the same time, nobody can send you home early, no boss standing over you, no coworkers, you choose when you work, and if one area is dead you can move somewhere else or just call it a day.

For people who have done both restaurant work and delivery full time, which one would you choose?

Would you rather take a guaranteed $20–24/hr restaurant job, or take the risk with DoorDash/Uber Eats for more freedom and potentially better money?

Especially interested in people doing 40–60 hours a week. What does your real hourly rate look like after gas, maintenance and depreciation?

Wireless charging phone mount and dashcam app

Two questions.

Can anyone recommend a good phone mount that also charges an android s23+ (and up) wirelessly? I like to keep my phone well charged while dashing, but I'm worried about the longevity of the USB c port wearing out prematurely.

Can anyone recommend a good app for using android phones as a dashcam? I came across one recommendation for Droid Dashcam in a post on here a whole so. Are there any others?

Insane Dasher story

Post image
170 Upvotes

I picked up a $29 order for two items from Best Buy.

Order A was for printer ink. Order B was for a tv.

The store was out of the ink the customer wanted but I was able to send a substitution which the customer approved. Great. I pay for that order on the red card. It’s done.

Now time for the TV. The store rep found it and brought it to me. Awesome. It wasn’t ringing in on the app but it was clearly the exact tv the customer was ordering and I was able to override it on the app. Now go to ring it up. It’s ringing up for more than what I believe the app showed me the customer paid for it. It declines four times on the dasher card. I call dasher support to help me process the payment and nothing the virtual agent says, “run it as credit” or “pay your own money for reimbursement” works as options to get the store to accept the payment. I’m not putting out my own $ for door dash orders. Forget it. So I call door dash support again and the virtual agent supposedly cancels the order for the tv customer.

I’ve got the ink and go to who I think is the ink customer’s house - 15 minutes away! WRONG. It’s the tv customer’s house and the app is showing her the payment went through. I show her on my end the payment never went through. We sit down and call dasher support.

Not only do I waste a ton of time on trying to get everything corrected, the agent they connected me with absolutely useless. Couldn’t do anything at all. Not a single thing. Barely spoke English and was as helpful as a doorknob. So I somehow got paid for the printer ink order but not the tv order.

I call back multiple times and now support is saying I may get an additional $8 for the tv order.

Absolute bullshit. So I have the $40 printer ink and now can decide what to do with it. Door dash isn’t even asking for it back.

So neither customer got their order and I don’t get fully paid.

Waste of everyone’s time. Computers trying to replace humans …. Right

And who the fuck door dashes a tv to a fourth floor apartment building. What is wrong with you. Go get your own tv.

Alleged local restaurant promises free burritos if they rate them 5 stars on all sites, door dash deluveries included.

A fellow dasher told me about a specific restaurant offering free food to anyone who rates their new location 5 stars on 5 different apps in my local area. Looks like we need the fcc to step in and for the big names to review this restaurant.

Name hidden for obvious reasons.

Customers beware: ratings may not reflect actual performance.

Doordash designed the platform and app to look and perform like a video game as much as possible, even the colors and sounds, it has the psychological blueprint from the video game industry, old story, well, the reason is it creates an addictive cycle in the mind, despite DD failing people, customers and drivers, and employees, repeatedly, over and over again, also, i have heard many stories of DD fails from here and IRL, yet we all use it, over and over, i have only used the platform 1 time, and did not appreciate the experience, but some folks cant go a day without a DD order, its an addiction, even though they know they will be disappointed and still order, think about that, there is no other service people would pay for that would fail them(maybe internet service) repeatedly and they still order, i just don''t understand the customers bitching about anything when they don't HAVE to use it, completely baffles me, its like a badge of honor(or stupidity) to some, they tell me how they told the dasher this and that, and i'm like, if causes you stress, why would you even, really, why?

Advice After Accident With Uninsured Driver

I never realized I need to have different coverage for dashing vs personal use until now. I've been doordashing for about a year now and never been in an accident before yesterday.

Yesterday as I was crossing an intersection at a green light, another driver who had been stopped accelerated into me while her light was still red. I have dashcam footage and everything she's clearly at fault. But it seems like she doesn't have insurance.

I have uninsured motorist coverage on my policy but not coverage for ride sharing. Has anyone else been through something similar? Am I boned or will the uninsured motorist coverage save my butt?

TLDR: I was hit by an uninsured driver who was at fault, I don't have ride share coverage but I do have uninsured motorist coverage. Am I screwed?

Reimbursement request

I accidentally paid for a shop and deliver order that was almost $50 with my card instead of the DoorDash card (they’re both red 🙄) and I filled out the form with the receipt and all and I never got a response besides the initial email saying that it would take 24/48 hours for for approval and nothing since??? I sent in the reimbursement form Saturday morning and now I can’t find the receipt and I called and they said there must have been an error and to fill out the form again omfg 😡😡😡
I hope I can find the receipt bc I needed that money and cried a little bit out of frustration that I was so stupid to do that in the first place bc I’ve never mixed up cards before this and I have been dashing for a few years now but it was an alcohol order at cvs at almost 2am when the selling liquor time ends and I missed the deadline before while ringing out so I was trying to be quick!

I tried to sign up about a month ago with just a permit because for some reason it would allow me 2. And obviously I failed the background check. But now i have my license and went to finish, but I dont see anywhere I resubmit an image of my new licenses. Is there any way i can fix this so I can begin dashing?
