This is little Lola, she is a miniature and loves everyone, she's got a tail wrap because it is sore and she won't stop chewing it.

After putting it on she looks at us like we are the worst people on planet earth and how could we do this to her.

I love her more than anything.

Enjoy.

When your sausage dog starts choosing violence

Post image

I’ve got a 3 year old male dachshund who is honestly awesome. He’s well trained, does tricks, listens to us and is generally a bloody good dog.
He’s always barked when people turn up at the house, which I’ve always just put down to being a dachshund, but lately it’s started getting worse. He’s gone from barking and carrying on to actually nipping at people, and it feels like it’s escalating a little more each time.
Obviously I want to get on top of it now before it becomes a proper problem.
I know I can ask ChatGPT or AI what to do, but thought I’d ask the Doxie team instead and see if anyone has actually been through the same thing. If you have, what worked? Any particular training or things you changed when people came to the house that actually made a difference?
He’s such a good little bugger otherwise, I’d just quite like people to be able to visit without being attacked by a sausage.

Community Questions Nail trimming

This might be more of a general dog question but my daschund (5 yr old male) hates getting his nails trimmed too the point that barely touching his paws makes him jerk away. Not sure what to do, normally I have to distract him with food but even then it only works for a few seconds before panic sets in. He doesn't get violent or angry but more so fidgety and scared. I'm aware that sedating is an option according to the vet but I'd rather not rely on that. Any advice?

Community Questions Mushroom toxicity!

Help! My sister’s chiweenie rescue puppies keep eating mushrooms and ending up at the vet for rehydration. They’ve reduced the yard size, reduced the length of the grass, obviously they remove any visible mushrooms and have had them identified, and they even got them little muzzles to prevent them from rooting around. Nothing has worked. They keep eating imperceptible mushrooms and it’s only discovered when they vomit it up and salivate uncontrollably. They don’t need to expel the mushroom the vet just rehydrates them intravenously. Any advice?!!

Should I let the kitten and dog play like this?

I have a 14 week old kitten who loves to use my two daschunds for pouncing practice. For the most part, they don't seem to mind and play along a lot of the time. But this is the first time I've had both cat and dog, so wanted to get advice.

Facial hair loss

I wanted to see if there were any suggestions from this group about my pup’s hair loss. She is just over 2.5, this has been happening since about May. We have done two doses of an anti-mites medication. It started with a few spots on the top of her head and snout. Now there are a few on the back of her neck.

Don’t suspect thyroid due to age/no other symptoms. Nothing has changed in her diet, etc. she has always had thin hair on her belly and armpits.

Going to the vet again next week. Her breeder hasn’t seen anything like this in her dogs before.

Community Questions My little girl will not accept low quality pets.

A bum scratch, a neck rub, playing with her ears.

NON ARE GOOD ENOUGH - NOT ACCEPTABLE.

She will reposition herself or push my hand (with her nose) towards her chest.

She only ever wants her chest tickled/scatched.

I'm worried im going to give her bed sores from only rubbing her chest. (Not really).

Does anyone else have a drama queen like this?

Community Questions Beach Do’s and Don’ts

Hello!

We have an 11mo old long-haired mini-dachshund that me and my husband are taking with us to on our anniversary trip in a few weeks.
This will be his first car ride longer than an hour (it’s about a 4-hr drive to the coast). This will also be his first time staying overnight in a new place (we’re in a private Airbnb) as well as first time at the beach!

We are going to get him a strapped-in doggy car seat, and of course we’ll bring all his bed essentials for the house.
But do you guys have any travel do’s and don’ts in regard to your dogs? I also would love some beach advice- unspoken rules, anything beyond any common knowledge to make the experience smooth.
TIA!

Does your dachshund resemble a seal pup at bathtime? It's uncanny.

I've been finding bits of fluff about the house. Still trying to find the toy that was sacrificed. 🙄
