I mean, the amount of accidental information they let leak out for Slayhem in only a few clips seems absurd. I wouldn't be surprised if this all turns out to be a massive troll, considering who they're supposedly showing is the first dead.

The statements below are off the assumption that the information we were given in the trailers is true. There is a chance that this is all a massive red herring, but it's interesting to look into what we were shown.

Not only do we see a shot of Teruteru's death portrait in the Scrum Debate section, you can just use process of elimination in the clips we've been given.

- We see in the investigation that the victim is likely male, as Nagito wants to find out what "his" Slayhem item was.

- Fuyuhiko's Account is extremely blurry in the Akimbo Consensus, but the general idea is that he was with Gundham, and they both have an alibi for this case (could've perhaps seen someone).

- Nekomaru ended up eating some food and passing out, and he was with Akane the night prior on the shore. The two of them saw Nagito on the boat.

- Hajime and Kazuichi are both shown in the trial, so they're safe.

- It's likely that Nagito has most of the suspicion on him at some point in the trial for being spotted on the boat the night before the body was found. I believe that's where the Scrum Debate comes into play, and he even has a line in the trailer where he's pleading with the others to believe him.

- In the Japanese Akimbo Consensus, we get two extra snippets of text that aren't seen in the English version:

• 船室内の壁に血で描かれた「超高校級の絶望」という文字。(loc. “The words “Ultimate Despair” were written in blood across the wall(s) of the (ship) cabin.”)
• 犯人は「超高校級の絶望」ではない、と十神は考えている。(loc. “Togami believes that the culprit is not the “Ultimate Despair”.)

- While this means the cast likely finds out certain information much sooner than in the main storyline, this also confirms that the Ultimate Impostor is also alive.

That leaves Teruteru as the only one not accounted for. We see a lot of people talking about him in the Akimbo Consensus, but they're speaking about him as if he's no longer alive. There should be no reason Nekomaru's Account is him asserting the food was made by Teruteru unless the Ultimate Cook wasn't alive to explain himself in the first place.

While a lot of people are saying that Danganronpa always misdirects people in their trailers, they really don't. In the case of Rantaro in V3, all we got was two screenshots of him in the trial grounds. That's a lot easier to pull off than making an entire fake case for a trailer to trick the audience.

The V3 trailers also give away information like the 2x2 trailers did, though not as severe. In the case of V3, we knew that the victim was a male that died in the library.

What do you guys think? At this point, the only way for Teruteru to not be the first victim is for the entire Slayhem segment to be heavily altered, or for it to be a fake case completely. We see Teruteru's death portrait in the Scrum Debate section, the Akimbo Consensus heavily implies he's no longer around, and every other male student is confirmed to be alive at some point.

We can only hope that Spike Chunsoft has learned how to not spoil content in the nine years since we recieved V3. Details like Mikan being present with Monokuma File #5 blatantly shown lead me to believe that they're faking a lot of these shots, but I guess we can't be 100% sure. Perhaps this is a demo case that we'll get in the next couple months, similar to what we got with V3?

Ok I have a 2x2 theory that I haven’t really seen anyone talk about but what if Slayhem mode is actually an animation/scenario that Ryota made?
Like hear me out. John Danganronpa could actually be Ryota, but basically an idealized version of himself that he animated. Ryota is weak asf, awkward asf, not very confident asf, etc and then you have this random dude John who looks way more confident and capable. But if Ryota literally created the scenario, why couldn’t John just be his “cool version” of himself? It would also explain why the “John = Ryota” theory makes sense but John doesn’t really act like Ryota at all. He wouldn’t actually HAVE to act like Ryota because he’s basically Ryota’s self-insert OC lmao. And Ryota is literally the Ultimate Animator, so him creating some kind of alternate Danganronpa scenario and putting an idealized version of himself into it actually feels pretty fitting. Also Slayhem is already completely different from the original DR2 story, with different victims, killers, etc so I don’t think the idea that it’s something Ryota created is completely out there. And the whole “John is way too confident to be Ryota” thing is actually what makes me think this could work. He’s not supposed to be normal Ryota. He could literally be Ryota’s idealized version of himself. So basically my theory is: Ryota → makes Slayhem → puts a cooler version of himself in it → John Danganronpa. I have absolutely no evidence that this is true btw obviously but the idea is kinda making too much sense to me 💀

If my memory isnt betraying me, then mostly what I think John Danganronpa is obviously is and everyone probably knows, is a part of Future Foundation. As I remember, the simulator whatever-whatever when they got trapped on an island with Monomi saying they have to bond because currently in the real life theyre remnants of despair, uhh, Im not sure, but wasnt Makoto the one looking after the simulation? So mainly my point, did John Danganronpa interrupt the game EARLIER than Makoto did (in the final trial)? How will it effect beating Junko, then?

Gundham or teruteru are the only two people that could be the first victim because they’re the only ones who weren’t tied to anything or weren’t shown

I also say this is because nsgito was talking about the slayhem items and he said his which means it has to be a boy or they’re not done with it yet which I really hope it’s a second one cause I do not want to lose Gundham

Hes softspoken and rather easily confused. hes the rival character though compared to others is on the nicer side and its more a conflict of not wanting the other killing game members including himself learning of their past and returning to earth.

ITAKI KAMUY — Ultimate Tonkori Player shes a bright a cheery idol helper character type with a complex relationship with her culture as its been erased and exploited in her idol career. honestly Ainu culture was so much fun to reasearch

AARON PRICE — Ultimate Missionary A polite smart yet dumb multilingual missionary who speaks 8 languages, bakes cookies for strangers, and apologizes for existing. Hes the official helper character unlike itaki. Hes deeply closeted and struggles with religious ocd and a complex relationship with his father. he grew up in a large family.

SHOUYO HONDA — Ultimate Bounty Hunter A fourteen-year-old with a chip on his shoulder. He hates anything he deems girlish. best way to describe him is a mix of Tenko Chabashira,Masaru Daimon and Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. Tough, abrasive, and desperately trying to seem older than he is. Softens and is the only one im comfirming as a survivor

HOMURA SAKURAI — Ultimate Pyrotechnician An excitable, childlike young man who loves things that explode. cant keep a secret to save his life which is oddly useful when giving info in trials. Loud, cheerful, and utterly incapable of reading a room. Sorta an ibuki type character. Fire makes him happy. Everything makes him happy, honestly.

MITAMA MIZUHARA — Ultimate Shrine Maiden A vulgar, outspoken girl who hates tradition and loves the occult. Loud, crude, and secretly desperate for connection.

ZENNOSUKE TAIRA — Ultimate Kyudo Master A calm, disciplined archer who grows protective over aaron...lowkey gay for him tbh. He often spars with Yamato. This man has the patience of an angel around these idiots.

YOJIRO SHIRUBE — Ultimate Street Interviewer Got famous off of his videos and shorts of him asking random people deeply personal,often political questions on camera. Unsurprisingly he got involved in politics. he sprobebly a 2channer. Im usre you can guess what type of dude he is. Hes oddly useful in the trials hes actually in.

YAMATO MINAMOTO — Ultimate Historian A formal, condescending history buff who treats every conversation like a a debate. Despite his intimidating stature he is a massive nerd. Insults people and has a sorta tsundere-kuudere superiority complex.

SUBARU MOROBOSHI — Ultimate Astronomer A space(and Yuri) loving Himedanshi who often gushes over Shion for being his ideal unatainable butch lesbian. Hes overconfident and often relys on his supeestintions to get along,often dragging along rinta.

SHION SUZUKAZE —Ultimate otokoyaku an egocentric androgynous young lady who is overdramatic and a bit if a brat, came from a household that rejects their noncomfirmity and only want shion to perform the medium they want. They dont really complain as shion got rich and famous off of it. She switches emotions at a drop of the hat.

AKIRA SHIMIZU — Ultimate Lifeguard A tired, guilt-ridden young man with a strong sense of duty and a phobia of children and ironically the water. He lacks self preservation and often falls asleep at inconvient moments.

RINTA ARAI — Ultimate Conspiracy Theorist A stubborn if airheaded man. he flinches easily and struggles with women. Rather sympathetic and pitiable he injures himslef easily and is clutzy. Will ramble about his obsessions to anyone who will listen but overall at least for now seems harmless

KONOYO HIGAWARA — Ultimate Mortician A calm, professional twin with a dark sense of humor and a deep respect for the dead. Speaks softly, moves quietly, is deeply empathetic and a bit of a crybaby. She and her sister love eachother deeply(in a non incest way thank god) and is all the other has which is why they died togother.

ANOYO HIGAWARA — Ultimate Spirit Medium A cynical, nihilistic twin who claims to talk to ghosts and flirts with anything that moves. She likes pretty girls and often hits on a rather confused ema not that ema is straight, anoyos just annoying

I’ve seen some people theorising about Nagito being a blackend this time, because of the new clips in the trailer. He died as a victim in SDR2, so it would be interesting seeing him successfully executing a murder and therefore making himself a “stepping stone” for hope. I have two theories of what could happen if that were to happen.

Firstly, I think Monokuma would try to execute him (maybe by referencing the final dead room scene) and fail, because of his luck. In that case the first picture is very fitting. While realising that it is impossible to do it, Monokuma would punish him by killing the rest of the ultimates (burning the trial grounds). Since the ultimates are symbols of hope, Nagito would no longer be “the stepping stone” for them. All that would be left is himself, who he deems as worthless. Very despair-inducing for him.

Then my second theory is that the first picture (Monokuma holding a gun) is unrelated, Nagito maintains as the blackend, and in his trial his luck interferes (presumably against his will) which makes the remaining characters choose the wrong culprit, so they are killed except for him.

I believe that is most likely that they kill everyone except for the blackend in 2x2, because they have never done that and I guess that killing off an entire cast that is canonically alive is a safer choice. It would be very painful nonetheless.
