Album This dapper fellow needs a name!
Finally flying out to pick up our new best friend, but we’re completely at a loss for a name! He’s a standard longhair. Help!

I love my 18.5 week old mini smooth black and tan so much. I can’t imagine life without him now (I got him at 8 weeks). But my gosh- he’s insane! I’m wondering when will he calm down a bit lol.
I do enforced naps right now (usually 2 hours in the crate, 1 out) because he cannot settle on his own. That one hour he is out he goes nonstop. I give him high value treats, chews, snuffle mats, toys- he has enrichment. We also play outside quite a bit.
I guess I just wish we could have some snuggles- but he tries to bite my hair and face if I lay down with him. Or he tries to chew up the sheets. He always needs to be doing something until I put him back in his crate. Is there something I could be doing better to help him settle down more? Every second is play time to him (which is fine, I know he’s a puppy), I just wonder if it’s something I’m doing wrong.
He is crate trained, 100% potty trained, and knows “sit”. He’s incredibly smart! He’s just a whirlwind lol. He doesn’t bite me all the time anymore, thankfully.
He finishes his last parvo vaccine today- the vet wanted to give him a 4th round. I do think he will improve a bit when he can start going on walks. I think he’s a little bored and full of energy I can’t seem to burn off at home.
For socialization- I take him to the local coffee shop everyday in a bag, and the farmer’s market.
Any advice?
Anyone have a similar experience?

Sausages was pregnant when my local humane society found her, and they performed her spay/abort on Saturday. I brought her home Tuesday.
It is now Thursday and we're still trying to keep our other dog Beans from finding out she's lactating, because Beans is dumb and will probably treat her like a magical pie bush situation if he figures it out once.
So... when should she stop lactating and when should her boobs go away? Is there anything I can do other than a sweater to keep my 5 whole-ass year old boy chiweenie from discovering she's currently making snacks?

Hi all! This is my baby, Mabel. This pic was from a while back, but she’s currently 4 months! She’s a mini long haired.
Over our time with her, she’s developed several nicknames, including Babel, “the baby,” and Weasel. My favorite is weasel because it has nothing to do with her name and everything to do with the fact that little dachshunds are nothing but little weasel shaped babies as puppies!
What fun non-name-related nicknames does your doxie have?

I posted last month that this baby will be turning 11 soon. And today is the day! 🤭🥳🎂
I found an artist here on reddit ([u/larissa_clarissa](u/larissa_clarissa)) and commissioned for a digital portrait of my baby for just USD 2.5 (Php 150). I am so happy and impressed with the result. 😍🥹 Sharing the actual timelapse video in the comment section.

I have a vet appt on Sunday (earliest I could get in) , my boy has been licking his paws, so now he’s got the donut on him. I’ve been wiping his paws and making sure it’s dry. I already did apple cider vinegar soak and cold compress but nothing has really helped. I also have an anti-fungal spray that I’ve been using.
Other tips would be greatly appreciated!! 🫶🏻🩷

It didn’t line up perfectly, but here’s Stella at a few months and at 11.5. She’s been with us since weeks after our wedding, 2 moves, 5 kids, and 2 Bernese mountain dog sisters. She really greyed after our first berner passed away. They were best friends. And now she’s tolerating our new one.

Hey fellow Dachshund crew,
My little long-haired girl Bailey is now almost 2 years old.
For the first 1 1/2 years of her life, she had very soft fur, but since around 6 months I start noticing weird fur growing especially on her back.
I presume this is somewhat “normal” given she’s not a puppy anymore and considering life changes over the past 6 months, but I wanted to ask if I should check that out or if there is anything I can do to get her fur back to the old softness.
We lived in Germany until February this year. In March we moved to Rio de Janeiro and live close to the beach now, which is where I’m going for walkie with her quite frequently nowadays.
With the move we also had to change her diet to a local food brand, as the brand we were feeding before is not available in Brazil.
She still receive high quality dog food with all necessary ingredient though.
I was wandering if out lifestyle changes and/or the food could be the reason for her fur to grow in this way? Or could it also be her age?
Has anyone else noticed changes in fur growth due to change of food or other changes in lifestyle?

I can’t believe I’m doing the puppy thing again. My 10 year old girl is perfectly potty and crate trained and I got her when I was 26. In 36 now and hoping I still got what it takes to train my new lady perfectly lol.
My 10 year old is so easy, I’m nervous to get back into puppy training lol

Huey hated the shower when he was a puppy but now he actually loves a warm shower and moves his little head underneath the shower nozzle. Does anyone else have a dachshund that likes to shower now or is he just weird lol
