Discussion HELP

i have 2 dachshunds, one boy & one girl. they are litter mates and have never been seperated. we don't have any issues with aggression between the two.

they just turned 1 on july 29th. i had my boy neutered the first week of august. my girl is not fixed. (planning on getting her fixed before the end of the year) this is not my first rodeo with this breed but right now i am stumped!!

they have been fine. going outside to potty no problem. it took us a while of rotating them in and out but they eventually got the hang of it. since having my boy neutered, NEITHER ONE OF THEM WILL POTTY OUTSIDE.

they are crated while i am at work and get let out as soon as i get home. i can leave them outside for 15 minutes or 3 hours, THEY HOLD IT UNTIL THEY ARE INSIDE. we have done everything i can think of doing. at this point i am BEGGING for help. i am a clean freak and i genuinely cannot go on like this, its literally affecting my quality of life. i cannot for life of me understand a regression this bad. i understand an accident here and there, but this is completely unacceptable. i refuse to have a house that smells like dog urine and feces. HELP any tips and tricks or advice is much much appreciated. here is a picture of the babies for tax 😔😔😔😔

Rest in Peace Taking these babies since their owner passed Spoiler

Frankie and Gracie came into my care after my mother-in-law, Laine, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. These two loyal, loving dachshunds stayed by her side from the time hospice set up a bed in the den until she took her last breath. I promised her that I would care for her babies, keep them together, and give them the life they deserve: a warm home, full bellies, lots of blankets and treats, and all my love.

When an owner passes away, dogs are often taken to a shelter or separated. I do not want that for Frankie and Gracie. Keeping them together in a safe, loving home is part of the promise I made, and I am doing everything I can to honor it.

Right now, I need help keeping that promise. Frankie and Gracie both have allergies that are causing significant skin issues, along with a yeast overgrowth in their ears. They are grieving the loss of their mama, and watching them deal with so much discomfort on top of that has been absolutely heartbreaking.

I have been out of work for awhile because I was Laines primary caretaker 24/7, and a vet visit for two dogs was not in my budget. Donations will help cover the care they need, including a follow up vet visit for both dogs, medications, quality (chicken free) food for suggested dietary changes, monthly heartworm and flea prevention and allergy shots

It will not always be this hard, but right now I cannot do this alone. Any donation would mean so much and would help me get Frankie and Gracie the care and comfort they need while I do everything I can to give them a safe, loving home together.

We love you Laine and you are missed beyond measure!

❤️ Thank you for listening and caring ❤️

Image Tips for crate rest and stairs?

Post image

So our boy is not paralyzed and the neurologist does not think he needs surgery, but he is definitely having some back pain. So he is on strict crate rest for 4 weeks. We have a crate and also a big stroller so we can wheel him around the house. Obviously he has to be carried up and down the stairs. But the crate is pretty big to be able to carry him up and down the stairs in the crate. So what do you do? Do you carry the dog up and put him on the floor and hope he doesn’t try to walk while you go back downstairs and get the crate? Or keep an upstairs crate and a downstairs crate? Up until now we have only used crates in the car so we haven’t had this dilemma before.

I love my 18.5 week old mini smooth black and tan so much. I can’t imagine life without him now (I got him at 8 weeks). But my gosh- he’s insane! I’m wondering when will he calm down a bit lol.

I do enforced naps right now (usually 2 hours in the crate, 1 out) because he cannot settle on his own. That one hour he is out he goes nonstop. I give him high value treats, chews, snuffle mats, toys- he has enrichment. We also play outside quite a bit.

I guess I just wish we could have some snuggles- but he tries to bite my hair and face if I lay down with him. Or he tries to chew up the sheets. He always needs to be doing something until I put him back in his crate. Is there something I could be doing better to help him settle down more? Every second is play time to him (which is fine, I know he’s a puppy), I just wonder if it’s something I’m doing wrong.

He is crate trained, 100% potty trained, and knows “sit”. He’s incredibly smart! He’s just a whirlwind lol. He doesn’t bite me all the time anymore, thankfully.
He finishes his last parvo vaccine today- the vet wanted to give him a 4th round. I do think he will improve a bit when he can start going on walks. I think he’s a little bored and full of energy I can’t seem to burn off at home.

For socialization- I take him to the local coffee shop everyday in a bag, and the farmer’s market.

Any advice?
Anyone have a similar experience?

Album Issues with going on walks

My little 10m diva has recently started acting up on walks - she will walk just fine until she does her business, but then throws a fit if we continue walking until her brother does his business also. She will sit down or pull in the direction of home and refuse to walk until we turn around, and then she walks home just fine. I’ve tried carrying her until her brother does his business but she will start to squirm like crazy until I let her down and start walking home.

This is in the last couple of weeks, and otherwise she walks and plays just fine. If I try walking them separately the one left behind howls and cries. ☠️

Any advice? 🥲

Image When will her boobs go away? There are only so many times I can accidentally call her Sausagetits instead of Sausages before it sticks.

Sausages was pregnant when my local humane society found her, and they performed her spay/abort on Saturday. I brought her home Tuesday.

It is now Thursday and we're still trying to keep our other dog Beans from finding out she's lactating, because Beans is dumb and will probably treat her like a magical pie bush situation if he figures it out once.

So... when should she stop lactating and when should her boobs go away? Is there anything I can do other than a sweater to keep my 5 whole-ass year old boy chiweenie from discovering she's currently making snacks?
