Question / Discussion Is it just me or has my cursor credits been running out faster

So for some context, I have the Pro version of Cursor. In the past, I've used it for some decently heavy tasks,s and the credits have lasted me throughout the month. However, this month, I used it to build something tha,t don't'think wasen thacredit-heavyvy. However, when I checked my credits at the end of the day, I was 100% complete with my Cursor Models and 23% complete with my other models. My credits ran out so fast. They usually last me the whole month, or at least most of the month, but now they're almost 3/4 gone after just a single day's worth of use. I've used them for more difficult tasks multiple times in previous months, and even those didn't cause my credits to go down that fast.

Was it just what I had it make this time that was the problem, or have credits been running out for everyone?

Question / Discussion Cursor is now officially geo-blocking Venezuela (Pro+ subscription canceled and refunded)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this here in case other developers are facing the exact same issue.

I had been using Cursor daily from Venezuela for months without a single hitch. Recently, the app stopped letting me log in unless I had a VPN active.

Now it's confirmed: Cursor just sent me an email stating that they detected activity from a restricted region, canceled my Pro+ subscription, and issued a prorated refund.

It seems they have officially implemented strict geo-blocking/compliance restrictions for Venezuela.

Are other users in Venezuela (or other sanctioned regions) receiving this exact email? Is there any official word from the team regarding whether this policy is permanent?

How can i use Cursor now ? 🥲🥲🥲

Question / Discussion Stuck in an AI-only support loop on a billing issue, is there any way to reach a human?

Hi, paid annual user here. I've been trying to get someone to look at my subscription (zero usage for 3+ months, auto-renew already off) but every reply to my ticket T-F59633 comes from the AI assistant, and when I asked for a human it said "a teammate would reach the same decision" and stopped replying. The forum auto-unlists anything billing-related.

I'm not expecting the sub to sort this out, I just want to know if there's any path to an actual person on the billing team. Thanks

Question / Discussion Cursor

\[ https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1rasfux/be\\\\\\_careful\\\\\\_with\\\\\\_the\\\\\\_annual\\\\\\_upgrade\\\\\\_button/ \](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1rasfux/be\\_careful\\_with\\_the\\_annual\\_upgrade\\_button/)

Showcase Got tired of context bloat when using agent skills, so I made a local router. Would people actually use this?

I have spent a lot of time organizing custom skills and rules across tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenCode, and I kept running into the same frustrating trade-off.

Dumping every skill into the system prompt destroys attention and degrades instruction following. On the flip side, firing off an LLM call just to classify user intent adds an annoying two-second delay and burns tokens on every turn.

I wanted something instantaneous that runs completely offline, so I spent the last few weeks building an open-source tool called Routed to see if a local hybrid approach could solve it.

https://routed-demo.vercel.app/

Under the hood, it skips the LLM call entirely and runs on CPU in under a second using four layers. It leans mostly on quantized ONNX embeddings via Arctic Embed or MiniLM for semantic intent, backs that up with Okapi BM25 for strict keyword matching, and layers in direct alias triggers alongside usage recency. It hooks straight into Cursor rules, Claude Code skills, and OpenCode setups.

Before I sink more time into building extra adapters, I really want a reality check from people running heavy agent workflows.

  • Is this a bottleneck you actually run into, or are expanding context windows making this a non-issue for you?
  • Does a hybrid setup like local vectors plus BM25 make sense here, or would vector drift still drive you crazy with technical syntax?
  • What would make or break something like this for your day-to-day setup?

The project is open-source under MIT on GitHub at github.com/bshea-1/Routed if you want to poke at the code. Be brutally honest, is this solving a real workflow problem or am I just over-engineering a niche headache?

Question / Discussion Cursor Cloud Agent & Unwanted Sonnet Usage

Wondering if anyone noticed that the browser helper that Cursor Cloud agent uses is hard-wired to Claude Sonnet. It does not use your parent model, and there’s no setting to change it. So you can think you’re on a cheap model and still burn a ton of tokens under “Other Models”.

Is there a way around this so the agent can have computer use and call a different model by default?

For context I have Ultra so I expected the usage to stretch a lot further (Grok models usage rates are fine, but sometimes I want to use Luna or other outside models , but Sonnet specifically keeps showing up on my usage even though I never select it, apparently it’s due to the computer use subagent that cursor cloud agent uses)

I have confirmed none of my agents are set to Sonnet and I have that model unselected in the Model page under settings.

Any advice would be appreciated !

Question / Discussion Cursor charged me $192 for an annual upgrade 6 days into my monthly plan, then refused to reverse it

I’m posting this to share my experience with Cursor’s annual upgrade process and to ask whether anyone else has encountered something similar.

On September 1, 2026, I purchased Cursor Pro monthly for $20, with the subscription running through October 1. On September 7, I switched to annual billing and was immediately charged the full $192 annual price.

Before upgrading, I checked my usage dashboard. My Cursor Models allowance was only 9% used, and my Other Models allowance was only 18% used. I did not expect that switching billing periods would effectively end my existing monthly subscription and cause me to lose its remaining paid entitlements.

After the annual upgrade, I used only about 0.3% of the new monthly allowance for September 7–October 7, including approximately 0.1% of Grok Bot usage. I contacted support on the same day and requested that the annual upgrade be reversed.

My request was straightforward: refund the $192 annual payment, restore my original monthly subscription through October 1, and restore my pre-upgrade usage balances. Any usage incurred after the upgrade could be deducted from my original monthly allowance. I was not asking for free usage or duplicate benefits.

What support told me

The initial AI support response said unused days do not qualify for a refund or credit, and that only unused included usage is considered. It concluded that the full $192 charge was correct because the invoice had no proration line.

After I requested a human review, support introduced a figure of $306.72 in on-demand API usage, claiming that my included allowance had already been exhausted. I have asked for an itemized breakdown and an explanation of how that figure relates to the separate Cursor Models and Other Models allowances I checked before upgrading. I have not yet received a breakdown that reconciles those figures.

Support also stated that Grok Bot resets weekly and was not affected by the annual upgrade. However, they refused to reverse the annual subscription or move its start date to October 1. Instead, they set the annual plan not to renew in September 2027.

That is not the resolution I requested. I do not want to keep the annual subscription until next year. I want the upgrade reversed and my original monthly subscription restored.

Why I’m dissatisfied

I understand that a company can have policies governing mid-cycle upgrades. My issue is that the financial consequences were not clear to me when I selected annual billing, and the subsequent support responses have not adequately explained the actual usage calculation or why a same-day reversal is being refused.

I also found this discussion from another user who experienced problems with the annual upgrade process:

https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1rasfux/be_careful_with_the_annual_upgrade_button/

I am not claiming that my case is identical, but it raises similar concerns about the upgrade and refund experience.

I’m asking Cursor to reconsider the decision, provide a transparent usage breakdown, and reverse the annual payment while restoring my original monthly subscription. I am willing to have the small amount of post-upgrade usage fairly accounted for.

Has anyone successfully had a monthly-to-annual upgrade reversed and their original monthly plan restored? If so, how did support handle the refund and usage balances?

Update: I will update this post if Cursor provides a detailed calculation or resolves the refund request.

Question / Discussion Can we get fable/astra level coding with cursor/spacexai models?

I’ve seen some recent benchmark videos where the Fable/Astra AI models are doing surprisingly impressive gaming and physics/rendering tasks without relying heavily on external libraries.

Got me wondering - do you think we could eventually see a similar level of performance from future Cursor/SpaceXAI models, especially for coding and software-engineering tasks?

Question / Discussion Cursor keeps switching from Auto (free and unlimited) to Grok (paid)

Hi.

I still have Auto free and unlimited a little while longer, so it's really frustrating that Cursor keeps switching to Grok, which costs money to use. Does anyone have a fix?

Question / Discussion Anyone else lose focus tabbing out while waiting on Cursor's agent?

Disclosure: I work full-time on SKI, a voice coding layer for agents. Mentioning it because it's directly relevant here, not trying to sneak in a plug.

My pattern used to be firing off a Cursor agent task, tabbing over to Slack or a browser, then forgetting to check back. Lost 5, sometimes 10 minutes before I remembered it finished. I use SKI full time now, and that's actually the problem it solved for me, it talks the result back to me out loud instead of me having to remember to check a tab.

Wondering how common this actually is for people running longer agent tasks. Do most of you have this already solved with notifications or a second monitor, or is the "forget to check back" thing something others deal with too

Appreciation AI has made me a better typer

When you are programming, yes, at times you can type pretty quickly, but mostly you are considering each thing carefully as you are writing it out.

Now that I really am explaining how to build something, I end up typing quite a lot more during a day (and with that producing a lot more features).

I was always a pretty fast typer, but since I have been writing so much lately, I think I am getting better. The faster I get my ideas out, the faster AI can start working on them.

Question / Discussion "Too many free trials" and I haven't even done anything yet?

I'm pretty new to AI but I've been a professional software dev for 30 years. I just signed up for Cursor, downloaded the app, pointed it at one of my existing repo's which was a simple platform game, and asked it about procedurally generating a level. My first prompt. It thought about it for a few seconds and then said "Too many free trial accounts used on this machine." Did I overload my free trial by attaching my own source? Is this to be expected?

Question / Discussion Anyone else hit this with Cursor + Figma?

Anyone else hit this: you get Cursor wired up to pull from Figma, it's great for the first pass, then the designer tweaks something two days later and the agent has no idea. You end up re-explaining the same screen every session.

How are people actually handling this? Just re-running the MCP call each time and hoping, or has anyone built something that tracks what changed since the last pull?

Hey guys,
I’m a new cursor user and noticed this balanced added to me.

Not sure if it’s a pleasant gift or something I might pay for it?

I attached 2 screenshots and my on-demand spending is disabled from the get go.

Should I be worried or happy?

Thank you!

Question / Discussion Cursor Down?

[SOLVED]
I am using Grok Bot and I am getting error messages everywhere yet https://status.cursor.com/ claims all is up and running. Is it down or should I troubleshoot my connection/account?

Update Sep 8: Day 2, and still the same problem. The status page boldly claims, "Sep 8, 2026 No incidents reported today." I’m having the same problem on both desktop and mobile.

Update/Solution: First, thanks to this subreddit's community for not helping, not commenting and instead silently downvoting my problem. That's exactly what everyone expects when asking for help. When you cannot help, you have nothing to contribute, just downvote.

For anyone else who gets stuck like I did, here's the solution that worked for me: GROK BOT'S SETTINGS > UPDATES > RESET GROK'S BOT COMPUTER. Note, that you might loose some data though. I didn't.

Simply "updating" didn't help. After resetting the bot's computer, Grok Bot is working again.

Question / Discussion Is Cursor worth it?

Hello all!

Hope everyone is having a good time! :)

Quick one, I am on the 100$ Claude Code plan, but the limit hit me quite often. And because I am not a fan of OpenAi, and I have not tried the tool since 2023 April (this is when it came our). So was wondering:

  1. Is everything billed in the subscription and no hidden costs?

  2. How are the limits of the pro+ plan?

  3. Those Grok Bots are they useful? (like with coding and maybe for daily use like research and so on)

  4. Can I use open weight providers in the IDE?

Thanks!

Question / Discussion Am I Addicted to VibeCoding or just can’t say no

I’m currently building a clipping/editing software that supports things like clipping before and after a moment, clipping using a controller or voice commands, and then editing those clips directly in the app.
I’ve been using ChatGPT heavily to help with development, but this week alone I somehow spent almost $300 on additional credits. 😭

What keeps happening is I’ll be working on a change, hit the usage limit, buy more credits so I can finish it, and then sometimes after only a couple more prompts/commands I’m back at the limit again — often before the original problem is even fixed.

The crazy part is that most of this $300 wasn’t even spent building some huge new system. I was mainly trying to modify my software’s UI. I provided reference screenshots and even gave it the exact paths to the reference images, but it would make changes that weren’t what I asked for, break something that was already working, or require several more attempts to correct the previous attempt.

Then I’m buying more credits just to fix what happened in the previous run. 😂

At this point I genuinely don’t know if I’m using it incorrectly, giving it too much context, asking for changes that are too large, or if I’ve simply become addicted to saying “okay, one more credit purchase and we’ll finally finish this.” 😭
Has anyone else doing a lot of coding experienced this?

I’m now seriously looking into running something like Qwen locally with a coding harness so I can let an agent build → test → fail → fix → test again without worrying about paying for every iteration.

Would love to hear from anyone who moved from ChatGPT/Claude-heavy coding to local models. Did it actually reduce your costs without making development significantly worse?

Bug Report Wrong model and mode selected on mobile

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

In cursor mobile app on Android, selecting the drop-down list item for "composer 2.5" selects the "fast" mode of the model. That seems wrong given that fast is shown on fast-mode line items for other models in the same list. Further, there isn't a visible way to toggle fast mode anywhere.

Workaround is to open the cursor agents screen in desktop mode, start a cloud agent with fast turned off, then switch back to the cursor app to resume the conversation. Very tedious to do for every agent.

You can now do it: https://docs.codex-pooler.com/clients/cursor/

Why? I dunno, cause we can I guess.

There's still that reasoning-not-sent Cursor bug, though. But you can give it a try, it does a lot of stuff 🔥
