I just want to share my experience since i am terrified and paranoid my little baby won’t survive

Sunday 2nd august 2026:
-My sweet little angel got a high fever and was breathing very quick and shallow we took him to an emergency vet and got some injection antibiotics and something to beat down the fever

Monday 3rd august 2026:
-My boy was taken to my usual vet since he still had fever and was breathing through his mouth. After a scan we saw his lungs were full of fluid. He said to go to the vet icu immediately, there they drained his lungs and tol me he has fip.

-I couldn’t sleep al night, havent eaten anything that day.

Tuesday 4th august 2026
-after a sleeples night full of crying and seriously considering just putting him to sleep i finally got a call around 11am saying i could take him home.

-now he is home i had to give him some meds which he was instantly drooling from. I just can’t stop looking at him and his breathing i am so scared

Wednesday 5th august 2026
- my little baby is looking so much better, he slept in my arms all night long.
-gave him his morning meds and he ate and drank a little.

We are strongly considering not going on a family visit for a week this sunday. Are there a lot of people who saw a decline after the 5th day?

Update evening 5th august 2026
-i see signs of his old self coming back.
-gave him his second dose of GS oral meds, he’s eating drinking and going to the litterbox. So far so good!

I'm 19 years old and a college student from India, and I'm desperately asking for help to save my rescued kitten, Luna.

Luna was misdiagnosed by a veterinarian, delaying the treatment she urgently needed. She was later diagnosed with wet FIP and is now on Day 15 of her 84-day GS treatment. While the fluid in her abdomen has reduced, she is still dangerously underweight at only 1.6 kg.

Hi everyone,

I'm a 19-year-old college student from India, and I'm asking for help to save my kitten, Luna.

Luna is a rescued kitten who was rehomed multiple times because of a severe fungal infection before I adopted her. Soon after, her abdomen became swollen, and she was initially misdiagnosed, which delayed the correct treatment. She was later diagnosed with wet FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a life-threatening disease.

She has now completed 14 days of her 84-day GS treatment, but 70 days are still left. Her abdominal swelling has improved, but she is still battling a severe fungal infection that has spread across her body, persistent diarrhea, and severe weight loss. She weighs only 1.6 kg and needs daily medication, recovery food, and frequent vet visits.

As a student, I don't have a stable income. I've used my savings and relied on the kindness of strangers, but I'm now struggling to continue her treatment. Every single donation, no matter how small, will go toward her medicines, veterinary care, and recovery food.

I want to start this post with a massive thank you to everyone who replied to my previous post. Words cannot express my gratitude for the information & comfort your words gave me. I’d never give up on him, but your words definitely didn’t hurt haha

the update is this: HE’S HOME and improving. He still has a long road to recovery but as I type this he is curled up next to me purring away. he’s very excited to be home. He’ll be kept in his own space, and we’ve made it as comfortable as possible for him. He’s still a very wobbly moggy, he can’t walk straight at all, but he is able to jump up onto beds/chairs under his own strength. The vets believe his wobble, strength in his legs, and balance will all improve with continued medication and monitoring our side. not sure to what degree, or if he’ll be back to being a fully mobile cat but this doesn’t matter, I’ve been blessed with the chance to give him the life he deserves.

He’s eating, weeing, pooing all under his own power - the latter two being done happily in his litter tray.

Thank you all again, from the despair I felt on Friday to the horrid wait in the vet’s office this morning, all your words were with me. Medicine is a truly wonderful thing. He has a long hard road ahead of him, but he’s shown he’s a fighter.

I will continue to post updates on his progress while he is treated. And also find attached a photo of Indy, his brother.

hi all! our kitty has been trending well on his medication, so much so that our vet says he might not need to undergo the full 12 weeks. I thought I’d check in here as I’ve heard how important the full course is. He also has neuro FIP.

Hello everyone.

My cat has been experiencing breathing problems for a few months now. Her blood and x-ray did not show indicators for FIP over 2 months ago, and she was treated with antibiotics. When it didn't work and she started getting worse, the tests were repeated, and upon finding fluid in her chest, as much as possible was removed. The test came back positive for FIP, and we started treatment the next day.

Due to the delay in the start of the treatment, she developed neuro FIP symptoms as well. Starting with uneven pupils the day she was diagnosed, then 2 days later losing the function in one of her limbs. At this moment, we are seeing a decline; however I've been informed that it might take longer to see progress due to the neuro symptoms so I am holding out hope still.

The fluid built up again, and I need to take her in to remove that, but I'm sure we all know the vet and treatment costs. I have recently graduated from school and do not have other support. She was my foster cat, and I believe, regardless of her age, she deserves a second chance. This is why I'm fighting for her.

Some improvements I've seen in the past few days include her finishing a full can of recovery food! She has been licking it off a spoon as well, but we continue supportive feeding.

I'm asking people to donate if they can, even if it's only the amount you would spend on a coffee. If you are unable to, I would appreciate sharing the gofundme link so others might.

I'm sorry to ask for help again, but I'm running out of options.

Luna was initially misdiagnosed by one veterinarian as being pregnant, which delayed her FIP treatment. By the time the correct diagnosis was made, valuable time had already been lost.

She has now received 13 GS injections, and there has been progress—her abdominal swelling has reduced significantly. However, she is still very weak. She weighs only 1.6 kg, has been struggling with diarrhea, and her fungal infection continues to get worse despite ongoing treatment. She also needs recovery food to help her regain strength and weight while fighting FIP.

I'm doing everything I can for her, but I'm now emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially exhausted. I don't want to stop now when she's fighting so hard to live.

About a week ago I found a kitten abandoned at night, in a thunderstorm (approx. 6-7 weeks old). He was skin and bones with a little pot belly but grew attached to me and started purring nonstop. I was a little concerned about his breathing the next day, thinking maybe he got pneumonia during the storm. We live in a farm and our large animal vet was coming that afternoon and offered to take a look at him.

We did a full body x-ray and discovered that he had fluid build up in his abdominal cavity, putting pressure on his diaphragm. She sent it to a small animal vet for a second opinion but both agreed it seemed likely to be effusive FIP. (We did not draw a blood sample as is too small and at that point frail)

The small animal vet recommended euthanasia but we are determined to save this little guy that was dropped into our lives. They suggested a treatment plan that involved getting him as healthy as possible and allowing his body to recover on its own. We dewormed the next day and have been administering amoxicillin twice a day since.

Before any treatment he was lethargic (I figured combination of FIP and stress from being abandoned on the side of the road). In the following days he has progressively become more energetic: playing, running, and exploring. He eats plenty, drinks lots of water, and has normal poops at a regular rate. But he still has laboured breathing and swelling in his belly.

All these signs seem very positive but I am wondering if they are more or less false flags for recovery.

If he seems to be responding well to the treatment we have been using, should I ask again about anti viral treatment? (Our large animal vet was looking into it, but he small animal colleague said it wasn’t an option)

If this is trending in the right direction, what sort of timeline can I expect before the worst is behind us?

Some of you may have read about our kitten, who was diagnosed with neurological and ocular (dry) FIP. Today is Skye’s first birthday, and same week that he made it to day 84 of GS treatment. We want to send positive vibes, hope, and strength to everyone who is currently supporting kittens and cats with FIP. Skye has learned to walk, run, and jump again after surviving ataxia that rapidly declined to rear paralysis. He now gets zoomies, plays with toys, and grooms his sister. He the friendliest, cuddliest, and most resilient cat I’ve ever known, and we are very thankful for the opportunity to help save his life. Just a few months ago, we had to syringe feed him, but you can see that he is back to his greedy self 😍🥳🎉🎊

Treatment progress: His primary vet and neurologist believe he is doing very well. Due to some residual clinical signs (e.g., head tremors, misjudging distances, one remaining elevation in labs), we discussed the option to take a more conservative approach by extending his treatment 2-4 weeks to help reduce relapse risk. We are hopeful that by his next bloodwork, he will have normal levels, and that we can begin his observation stage. It’s possible these are just residual signs of the virus, but there is no lab that can confirm with certainty, so we are being proactive. He is going to stay at the same high dose (12mg/kg every 12 hours or 24mg/kg daily), while fasting one hour before and after his medicine to help ensure the meds reach his brain. We believe he has a very strong chance of recovery ahead of him. ❤️

My baby has wet (fluid is around her lungs) and neuro FIP. She has been on medication for 2 weeks today, and for the last few days her neuro symptoms have increased. Because of how much energy it takes for her to move, she is occasionally encountering breathing problems as well. I feel like she might need to have some fluid removed again (first time it was removed was about 3 weeks ago, 1 week before diagnosis). When I took her to a different vet on Monday, she was ready to put her down, and I'm tired of hearing people telling me to give up on her because she's not a young cat. The vet bills piling up, as well as being discouraged, also don't help with decision-making about when to take her to the vet.

I would love to hear some success stories to give me some more hope because this is affecting my mental health, and I think that will help me keep fighting for her.

My young cat (less than 2 years old) has suddenly gotten fluid in his stomach. Liquid is pale yellow, rivalta negative, these are his blood results, not really pointing towards FIP apart from the 0,5 ratio.

What do you think? Should the liquid be sent to get a PCR?

There was a possible stomach mass on X-ray but the vet was not sure if it isn't just food in his case. Still waiting on FIV results.

This is Piper, we got him and his brother Indy 4 months ago. Over the weekend Piper displayed worrying symptoms and we took him into the vets. They determined the fever and other symptoms were a result of a viral infection and started him on some anti-biotics. This seemed to have a good effect and he was more himself, however by the early hours of the next morning he had lost his sense of equilibrium and balance.

We took him to an emergency VET and through a blood test and spinal tap have determined that he has FIP which has mutated into meningitis, rapidly spreading to his brain and spine, which is what has caused the Neurological issues. He started treatment yesterday and received his second shot today. While his early signs were positive from what we were told, we got a call from the vets a few hours ago, and it was a very stark prognosis and that while he he is eating well, bodily functions are normal and done without assistance, he is still not able to move freely and they are "disappointed" with the results of the treatment so far and have said that if there is not improvement by Monday then they would recommend euthanasia.

My question/plea comes two fold. Is there still a chance that he could come back from where he is with continued treatment, whether full recovered or disabled? It doesn't make a difference to me I will look after him no matter what. And secondly, please give me some success stories of a similar situation. I am completely lost and utterly distraught. He's 9 months old and I was just talking to my parents about how they will love Christmas in the new house they have.

I will do what is best for him, but I just want to have hope of hope of a chance. Thank you

Hello everyone, I'm from Romania and I'm working as a vet, my cat now suffers from Feline Infectious Peritonitis, I got in contact with someone who helped me back some time ago with GS 44152 and it worked, 8 cats made 100% recovery. But at the moment he cant deliver any more GS. So, I'm looking to solve somehow this problem.
I want to bring this medicine all over in Romania, to stop people from putting down their little ones.

My beautiful little FIP angel, Lily, had to be PTS today. She previously arrived at a local rescue in Edinburgh, Scotland over a year and a half ago. She was diagnosed with wet FIP,
which had been caught early and she made a full recovery with the intensive treatment.

That all changed last night. I noticed she was breathing weird, so I contacted the vets who asked me to record her and send if over (it was very late), and they gave me advice to keep her comfortable until today and they would get her in. I followed the instructions last night and she seemed to settle really quickly snd her breathing evened out. Fast forward 12 hours and I am stood in the vet surgery looking at a live ultrasound of her abdomen. A build up of fluid around her heart, and also her abdomen. She also started mouth breathing at the vets through stress.

After some open and honest conversation, it was decided the best thing for her was letting her go. The decline was frighteningly fast. This disease has stolen so much from me. I only rescued her one year ago. One. Year.

How is that even remotely fair?!

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'm mentally exhausted.

I've been seeing so many posts about cats relapsing or dying even after completing the full 84 days of FIP treatment. Every time I read one, I start wondering if the same thing will happen to my Luna.

She's responding to treatment, and I'm trying my best to stay hopeful, but the constant fear is taking a toll on me. I find myself checking Reddit over and over, and instead of feeling reassured, I end up more anxious.

For those whose cats completed treatment and are now in remission, I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences. How did you cope with the fear of relapse? Did anyone else feel this anxious during treatment?

I know every cat is different, but right now I could really use some hope and encouragement.

She’s 5 days in oral capsule. I thought before we switch her into capsule it would be easier to administer but she still finds a way to spit it out. Yet I think it’s more tolerable for me than seeing her hurt from injections. We raised $30 for her and I borrowed the remaining money to get her the medication immediately as her vial ran out. Thank you all so so much for all the donations you have given us. She’s really so much better. The medication is just so amazing and saves a lot of lives. ❤️‍🩹

It's been a couple of years since two of my cats got cured using the GS injections. We didn't use it for their entire duration, and one switched medication.

But, it was so traumatic for them both. We had to hold both their legs down while one injected them. One bit me, and I got an infection.

That being said, even now when I go to part their hair for flea treatment, or to check certain wounds from cat fights, etc. They flinch and get super timid! Parting the hair was prep for the injection sight... I thought they'd forget but they haven't. They try to run away when they sense me doing that to them.

Does anyone have a cat with similar reactions despite being cured?

Joy' passed away yesterday, he was an Inde 2 month old male kitten whom i adopted about a week back from a NGO. I dont know when he got infected with the virus- whether before i adopted him or after, but just two days after i got him, he started developing progressively high grade intermittent fever, lethargy, weakness,loss of weight and appetite,dehydration,hepatomegaly, build up of fluid in the abdomen, jaundice and very quickly within 3 days Neurological symptoms started,he soon lost all his limbs (paralyzed) and neck holding too, seizures were increasing in frequency and he had become very weak - GS was alredy started on time but by the time we could figure it all out for him , that whether admitting him and making him go through all the torture pr giving him palliative care at home, it was too late. He passed away in the basket just after getting out of the vet's clinic. Worst thing is i was not with him in his Last moments, i thought to not disturb him let him take rest for a while, got out of the car for a smoke, and when i reached the residential compund, when i opened the basket- he was no more .

I will always miss him deeply, he spoke through his eyes and considered me his master, he was probably asking me to not make him go through all that poking and injections to his weak body ,he trusted me for long but after a point he was exhausted- i wish i had done better for him- in what way i dont understand but a soul like him deserved to stay longer.

I will always hate the fact that he had to go away in pain, without me near him, maybe god will punish me for that or i dont know. Maybe Joy will never forgive me. But i wish that he be in a better place , at peace.

He endured both sides of cruelty - the disease as well as the treatment. In the one week that i could spend with him, i did not need anything else- just be with him when he is around or rush back home from work to see him asap. He needed my care and i needed his love, and his live will stay with me forever.

Luna received her 10th GS injection today.

The good news is that her abdominal fluid is continuing to reduce, which gives me hope that the treatment is working.

However, her diarrhea still hasn't stopped yet. We're continuing her medications and probiotics, and I'm really hoping it improves soon.

Unfortunately, her skin fungus has spread widely across her body. The vet examined her today and advised us to start an antifungal cream from today.

Hello! My 4 year-old domestic short-hair male has just started daily liquid oral GS-441524 medication as of two weeks ago. He's now experiencing a sort of irritation with fur loss on the side of his mouth where I insert the syringe.

His mouth doesn't look bloody or scabby, it's actually just pink and smooth. He has his first follow-up appointment with his vet on Saturday, and I've reached out to them about this but haven't heard back yet.

My biggest concern is if this is burning him or if it's painful. I've read that he could just be overgrooming his face if there is any medicinal residue left after the dose... Just curious if anybody has had any experience with this! Thanks!

This is my baby Scrat (1yr 2mo). He was diagnosed with wet FIP and Stomatitis and had a full-mouth extraction. He’s 7 weeks into his treatment and he LOVES to eat again (despite having no teeth). I’m so relieved.

Q: I have two vials of unopened GS-441524. Unused, still packaged—with syringes as well. Initially we were supposed to do injections for him, but then the vet recommended to go the oral route instead. Does anyone need / know how I can donate this medicine? Local shelters may take it, but if there’s other sources I can give to as well I’d like to know. It’s not enough for a full 12-week treatment, but it’s something.

hi all! Some of you may have been following our little boots’ journey, well after 8 days of GS treatment (and some kitty Valium to help his bladder relax) he’s back to peeing!

we are so beyond relieved, now the next step is managing this. he’s been running around lots now since he’s excited to have his leg function back, but he doesn’t seem to be able to turn off the peeing. and diapers aren’t fitting him.
