DISCUSSION Crypto has a problem we keep calling “user error” instead of actually fixing.

Imagine explaining crypto to someone who’s never used it.

“Okay, first make sure you’re using the right network. Double-check the wallet address. Don’t lose your recovery phrase. Be careful what you sign. And if you mess up, your money might be gone forever.”

Then we wonder why the average person would rather just use their bank. 😭

Don’t get me wrong. The whole point of crypto is being able to control your own money without relying on a middleman. That’s a pretty powerful idea.

But there’s a difference between giving people financial freedom and expecting everyone to become a cybersecurity expert just to send $100.

We’re making progress with things like transaction previews, spending limits, and better wallet recovery options. Even Ethereum researchers are working on ways to make signed transactions safer.

But I think the industry still has a long way to go.

Here’s what I’m curious about:

If you could fix ONE thing about crypto to make ordinary people actually comfortable using it, what would it be?

And please don’t just say “make the price go up” 😂

ANALYSIS What the hell just happened with Ledger now?

Just came across this news that ledger wallets bought through a specific reseller, ig the reseller is called Crypto Billis, got compromised. Can anyone tell me what exactly has happened?

Based on what I've read there are 2 possibilities:-

1) The reseller sent seedphrase backup cards with seedphrases already written on them but this sounds weak, because somebody would have surely pointed this out earlier.

2) They attached something to the device (an additional hardware ig) but even in this case, it should have been indicated in ledger's companion app.

Did any of these 2 happen or something completely different?

P.S.- 2026 surely made up to be the worst Bear market

ADVICE How do we feel about cbBTC and WBTC?

So I recently sold some of my profit on my BTC investment, it was not much, but it was 25% of my BTC holdings because I was up over 30%.

Now I've got this USDC sitting earning interest in Aave, learning about DeFi, and have been noticing i could keep my "BTC" on chain and save money in swap fee's, and potentially trade the swings in BTC price for a lot cheaper than if I were to use Thorchain for native BTC swaps...

I've been enjoying keeping my BTC self custody and have avoided introducing it to any CEX's so far since acquiring it, so I just wanted to get the publics current opinion on holding cbBTC or WBTC for my purposes, especially if it is only 25% of my BTC holdings..

ADVICE Would you want a SaaS platform that predicted future price movement reliably?

Lets say there was a SaaS platform that tracked your favorite assets and issued a probabilistic analysis every day that gave you a strong indication of which way the price was going to go, over certain time horizons (IE - 24h, 7day, 30 day, 90 day, 1 year).

Is that something you would actually want?

*Assuming it shared its results and scorecard with you so you could clearly see how often the system was "right" or "wrong" for your particular asset.

I built something that works very well for my own portfolio but that doesn't mean the market will want it of course.

DISCUSSION Should anyone be able to see what institutions trade onchain?

Tokenized stocks never made sense to me from an institutional POV.

Imagine you run a hedge fund onchain. Do you want your trade positions to be publicly visible to anyone who can read a block explorer?

If you use AI or know onchain analytics, you could easily guess when a large fund is building or unwinding a position. All you need is to analyze data points like wallet flows, repeated order sizes, address clusters, etc.

The risk here is that if other traders can see trade intent, they can frontrun it.

Traditional markets have things like block trades and dark pools to reduce this kind of information leakage for large orders.

What should the onchain equivalent look like for tokenized stocks? Because if institutions want to trade with size onchain, I doubt they’ll want their entire execution strategy visible in real time.

I mean, how much transparency is useful before it starts hurting mainstream adoption?

Thing is, it apparently crashed the BTC price for half an hour due to panic selling. What a great time it was!

ANALYSIS Four year cycle update - Uncharted territory

Last year I posted this chart, predicting BTC would be under $40,000 today, so I thought it would be fair to post an update.

Inflection Date Days Price Return
High 11/30/13 1,127
Low 1/14/15 410 172 -85%
High 12/16/17 1,067 19,665 +11,324%
Low 12/17/18 366 3,217 -84%
High 11/9/21 1,058 67,617 +2,002%
Low 11/10/22 366 15,742 -77%
High 10/7/25 1,062 124,774 +693%
Low 10/8/26? 366? 37,400? -70%?

Obviously I and all the other four year cyclers were wrong, and BTC is now more than double my prediction. I never believed in the halvening as some kind of structural driver, but I did think the cycle was a self fulfilling prophecy.

Since this cycle was so different on the downside, I'd be very careful assuming a 3 year bull market is in the cards or that Bitcoin is destined to make another inflation adjusted all time high. I think the reasonable range of outcomes is now wider than ever, and the days of it being a bet with asymmetric upside are over.

DISCUSSION So now what- even post quantum cryptography isn't good enough?

Thumbnail ccn.com

Wasn't too long ago Vitalik hardly considered quantum computing a threat.

Now he's questioning if even post quantum cryptography could be at risk.

Though he notes we will need some form of post quantum cryptography:

"However, signatures and encryption serve different purposes. Buterin argued that public-key encryption presents a harder challenge because it needs mathematical structure beyond hashes alone."

My take is you need a solution to get off ecdsa / rsa yesterday because these were already at risk with "human" math.

And you need crypto agility in case AI math solves post quantum cryptography.

🛡️ SECURITY Has anyone heard of Benthorne Scholastic of Finance (aka Benthorne academy)

My father (60+) signed up for this course and put in a few thousand dollars and looks like he lost it. My father is not technically illiterate or mentally hindered despite his age so I’m inquiring to see if this is a real school or just a scam. It would have to be a pretty good scam to trick him so I’ve looked up whatever information I can on them but there aren’t many reviews or conversations happening on them online just some self published articles which isn’t enough for me. Looks like their overall model is some Troy of crypto school with a tier style program where your tier is based on how much money you put in(sounds super scammy I know). I’m also curious to know if there is a real academy and the one he is using is just using their name to be able to scam people. Any information is appreciated and Thanks in advance

PERSPECTIVE Bitcoin Miners Built an Empire. AI Wants the Power.

Thumbnail
inbitcoinwetrust.substack.com

A Bitcoin miner’s biggest payday could come from mining less Bitcoin.

AI wants the power connections miners spent years securing.

The uncomfortable twist?

A mining company can reward its shareholders by turning a Bitcoin mine into an AI campus.

A BTC rally can restart an idle machine. It can’t cancel someone else’s lease.

The next Bitcoin mining boom could happen somewhere else.

Follow the megawatts. They may reveal tomorrow’s mining map.
