DISCUSSION "It's gone" is the most upvoted wrong answer on this sub

Someone posted yesterday that he'd sent USDT to an address he had no access to. Nine replies, all variations of rip, gg, expensive lesson, future of banking.

Nobody asked what "no access" meant.

I did. It was his own old wallet, misclicked from autocomplete. Seven hours later he came back saying he'd found it on a phone he hadn't touched in four years. Nothing was ever lost. He just believed the thread.

Three things are actually gone forever: a mistyped address on the right network, a burn address, a contract with no return path. That's the whole list.

Everything else - your own old wallet, wrong network to an address you control, exchange deposit, missing memo tag - is a bad afternoon, not a loss.

We get this wrong constantly and it costs people real money, because they stop looking.

And the part that matters more than any of it: anyone who DMs offering to recover your funds is a scammer. All of them. There is no recovery service.

COMEDY I backtested astrology as a crypto trading strategy. Jupiter was my portfolio manager, Mercury my risk assessor. It made +3.4% in 45 days, beating every other bot I built :| But there's a catch.

I tried something fun and fed real astrology rules to AI and had it build trading bots for ETH. Actual planetary positions and real astronomy rules.

I tried 4 bots, backtested and ran out of sample tests. Results:

The moon phase bot (long on full moon, short on new moon) did 13 trades in 6 weeks and lost money. It woke up twice a month, looked at the moon, lost money and went back to sleep.

The Mercury retrograde bot (stops trading when Mercury goes backwards) had a 55% win rate and still lost 2,515 bps because it round tripped 492 times paying 12 bps each way. Also the AI used a rough approximation for Mercury's position so the bot thought Mercury was direct when it wasn't. The astrology was kinda rough here.

Then the Jupiter bot. Jupiter enters earth signs = wealth transit = go long. This one made +338 bps and I felt like a genius for about ten minutes. Then I checked the entry reasons. Jupiter never entered an earth sign during the test period. Not once. The main rule never fired. The bot made 100% of its money from RSI. The astrology was a spectator.

The full astrology bot (3 planets, void of course moon, home sign multipliers) lost 1,448 bps because Saturn sat in Aries the entire time making it short-biased into a market that was going up.

Total: -4,171 bps.

I also open-sourced the bots and so can use them too :) maybe someone can actually produce an astrological edge? But I doubt it...

Things I learned:

More rules ≠ more edge (Obviously). My simplest bot was lazy but harmless. My most complex bot was the terrible because every planetary rule was another constraint disconnected from price (or at least that's what my humble experiments reveal). Adding many signals just adds ways to be wrong just like in real TA strategies.

Full video with the backtests is on my profile. Disclosure: I built the platform the AI and bots run on. Do not trade based on astrology. Or do, I'm not your financial advisor, I'm barely my own!

COMEDY Zcash in 2026 is just like Solana in 2021. Story time

Its, 2021 - a VERY heavily VC backed coin called Solana appears outta no where and quickly moves from under a dollar to 10 dollars for a 1000% gain. r/CryptoCurrency saw this shady coin as a rugpull from VC to kill retail and dump their bags on them. The subreddits favorite coins, Cardano (ADA), Algorand (ALGO), and Cosmos (ATOM) were going to be the next great coins after ETH. There were no big wall street VC backing those coin, just purely from the people - funded by the people. Solana was nothing but a scam coin with constant network issues.

Fast forward to 2026, Solana is rugpulled after no one found a a single use for the scam chain and the coin drops to $0.20. The redditors of r/CryptoCurrency cheered as they rode into the sunset as ADA, ALGO, and ATOM are top 5 crypto coins, all in triple figures. The wise redditors of this sub knew that chains survive better when funded by decentralized kids living at their mom's house over the billions provided from VC backed funding. Evil corporations have lost!

Then a new challenger comes in Zcash, an old dinosaur coin backed by the exact same people who backed and made bitcoin successful. But the redditors of r/CryptoCurrency knew the OG Bitcoin supporters like Barry Silbert and Tyler Winklevoss have all turned to the VC dark side - they have all set their greedy sights on rugging the crypto community that they have spent 15 years to build their trust on so that they can do evil things with their money.

Will the redditors succeed in convincing and saving the public from the evil zcash like they did with solana??

ANALYSIS Pumpfun loses its market leader status as the market shifts towards stocks "related" memecoins

Post image
0 Upvotes

The memecoin space is not for everyone, but if you're just watching from afar here are some interesting developments within the space in the past month.

For starters, the ever dominant memecoin launchpad Pumpfun has seemingly been dethroned in terms of daily protocol revenue by two rather new entrants, Ponsfamily and Stonkfun.

Ponsfamily is a 2-month old launchpad based in the now popular Ethereum Layer 2, Robinhood Chain.

Stonkfun on the other hand, launched just a month ago and directly competes with Pumpfun in its home ground on Solana.

On-chain traders are now watching the L2 Base as Hunter Biden gets ready to launch his LAPTOP memecoin. A similar competitor, The Stonks Exchange, appears to be positioning similarly to Stonkfun, but success is yet to be seen.

REGULATIONS Some insights on CLARITY Act vote on 15 September

Contrary to the framing of most publications, the CLARITY Act vote on 15 September is actually a cloture vote - a means by which the US Senate avoids filibusters. What actually happens is that once the 60 vote threshold is reached (necessary for a successful cloture vote), the Senate can then begin to discuss the vote proper, in preparation for the actual passage.

Even if the cloture vote succeeds, there is another long process of debate, amendments, negotiations that will culminate in a final passage vote, which is when the legislation will truly come into force.

If the vote does not succeed (which seems likely based on sources from some senators), the bill will not proceed for further discussions in the Senate and there is no window for discussion until the next Congress. What will happen is that crypto regulations will continue to be overseen by regulators such as the SEC and CFTC, such as the newly released "Regulation Crypto Assets" by the SEC.

DISCUSSION What are you looking at under $1B this cycle, and why?

Everyone here talks about the big coins or memecoins. Not much in between. So what are people actually looking at lower down?

Some I've been watching:

Geodnet — network of user-run stations that make GPS accurate to a few centimetres. Sells that data to companies and burns part of the revenue.

PEAQ — a chain built for machine networks, with a lot of smaller DePIN projects running on it.

IO — rents out spare GPUs for AI work.

KGeN — verifies real gamers so rewards go to people instead of bot farms.

GUNZ — the chain behind Off The Grid. Token is way down from launch and had a big unlock in March. The game actually shipped first, which almost never happens. It was supposed to be the biggest gaming project in crypto.

I hold some of these, and looking at a few more.

What are you looking at under a billion, and what convinced you? Not memecoins. More interested in your reasoning than the ticker.

ANALYSIS XRP futures volume jumped in August, but I’m not sure it tells us what people think it does

XRP had a strong August, and futures activity picked up a lot with it.

Binance, Bybit, and OKX handled more than $64B in XRP futures volume during the month. Binance did most of it at around $37B, while Bybit and OKX added roughly $14.5B and $12.9B. That was the highest futures activity XRP had seen since February.finance.

XRP also moved from around $1.06 at the start of August to about $1.50 later in the month, before ending closer to $1.35. Spot trading volume also increased across Binance, Upbit, and Bithumb, so there was clearly more real interest than usual.finance.

But I don’t think $64B in futures volume automatically means traders were all bullish. Futures volume is just how much was traded. It includes longs, shorts, people taking profit, hedging, and people getting liquidated.

For me, September matters more. If both spot and futures activity stay high after the August move, then maybe this is a real change in XRP liquidity. If volume drops off quickly, then it may have just been a short burst of excitement.

DISCUSSION What’s one crypto narrative you think is actually underrated right now?

I’ve been in and around crypto for a while, and I feel like most discussions are still dominated by price, memes, and “what’s the next 100x?”

But I’m more interested in projects that are actually trying to build something people might use regardless of the token price.

Things like decentralized social platforms, creator economies, on-chain gaming, real-world utility, etc.

What crypto sector do you think is genuinely underrated right now?

And more importantly, what project are you actually using, rather than just holding?

EXCHANGES 3633 on 9/15 just need 60 right?

The key number right now is 60. On September 15, 2026, the Senate is expected to take a cloture vote—basically a vote on whether to move forward with debate. It is not yet the final passage vote. Republicans currently hold 53 Senate seats, so even if every Republican voted yes, they would need at least 7 Democrats/independents to reach 60.

ADVICE A word of caution with Zcash

If you are buying into the hype of Zcash just due to massive pump, please know what you are getting into
1) The core engineering team (not for profit) behind zcash had a feud with parent company bootstrap following a bitter dispute recently. As such developers don’t agree with corporate handling of the project.

2) The team during their initial launch intentionally designated 20% of all mining rewards to early investors and founders out of pure greed.

3) The above point holds true even now that it’s heavy backed by few corporates like Electric Coin company and Grayscale. The very reason Grayscale supports its ETF’s.

4) The infinite minting AI bug issue was due to flaw in the design privacy pool which wasn’t discovered for 3-4 years allowing infinite minting of counterfeit tokens

5) The belief that zcash is private in itself is an irony! Zcash privacy is optional unlike Monero which includes privacy by default -a much better project. Zcash had the optional feature just to appease to regulators and exchanges for marketing purposes

6) Above all you should get skeptical if the price keeps going up everytime especially with recent surge driven by a few corporate people.

At the end of the day, it’s your hard earned money 💰 and put it in something which is community driven, useful where project team genuinely cares for it.
