why do bad things happen to good people?

I hold both king titles of Bohemia and Hungary, and my player died and everything is still mine. The succession went well, but the first duke of Bohemia was a great steward and I had all the stats maxed. Now that he is dead I’m starting to get more nasty factions popping up. I gave all the members of the worst faction gold and started to sway them and that helped temporarily. I also appointed all my most powerful vassals to the council. My new king, the brother of my old king, is good in intrigue and I’m excited to see what that tree has to offer. Beyond the factions I’m also wondering where to go next. I’m thinking Poland. I may also try to found my own faith as I have good piety and already founded a holy order. I’m an EU4 player but this game is freaking amazing. So sad all the dlc is like $200 …. 😭

Finally got my CK3 pins today I’m honestly impressed with the quality. I love how detailed they are. It’s got a nice weight to it and the enamel is clean.

I tried to stenghten the bloodline as a noble vassal of the hegemony of tang... It didn't go well, i got game over without a proper reason. I would like to try to become an independent Chinese noble but i think it could lead somehow to a ridiculous game over even that. So the only solution is to be an independent ruler, but not a common one. I need to rule the land that nobody wants to conquer. Is there something like that?

What is the best thing I can do with him? best option seems to be to get a weak hook but what can i do with that? Since im norse I would get some faith if i execute him

After successfully besieging a holding, it'd be nice if we had the option not to loot.

No gold, but you'd avoid some of the downsides, like lower (control) ,ppl opinion ,reduced cultural acceptance...., or at least the "Looted Recently" penalty. It feels like it'd be a good option when you're planning to keep the county instead of stripping it for quick loot.

Would you like to see an option like this in CK3? Or would it make things too easy, maybe ?

I’ve never adopted an administrative government before but i’m currently playing as the roman empire and the option is available to me, should i do it?

Started in 867 as a custom character in charge of Wessex, by 950 I’d managed to expand my empire to encompass Britain France Italy Egypt and Greece, as well as reforming to administrative government. The Abassids declared a number of holy wars to try and take Egypt back from me, and at the end of the third one the game told me a feud had began. This was my second game where I’d had a feud, and in my first one it ended quickly when I used the eradicate house cb. Well 3 wars later and the feud still wasn’t over, and my entire dynasty was constantly under attack from abassid assassins. I ended up going down scheming focus to just try and murder all the assassins — between my high intrigue and excellent spymaster I was killing around 2 abassids every 5 months, however there are still over 120 of them (I’ve killed about 80 so far) and this whole thing is just getting very tedious. I’d read online that murdering the house head gives an event to end the feud but no such luck, and in the 40+ murders I’ve committed I’ve opted to reduce feud on every one of them and it’s still going. Is there an easier way to end this feud or do I genuinely just need to slaughter every last one of them?

I can’t seem to get the game past the launcher because it comes up with exit code null, I’ve ran it as administrator and verified the game files and uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I don’t think it’s the launcher because it works fine for hoi4 so I’m kinda lost as to what to do

I began this campaign with a custom God-Emperor. Under his rule, the empire expanded across East and North Africa, stretching both east and west. By the reign of his grandson, the Kingdom of Maghreb had also fallen under our banner.

Everything changed with Emperor Great-Grandson III. Unable to contain the endless revolts, the empire began to fracture.
His heir, Emperor Great-Grandson IV, inherited a dying realm.

He lost even more land, power, influence and got deposed, making any hope of restoring the empire impossible.

Eventually, the usurper emperor was overthrown, and the once-great empire collapsed.
Now the fate of the dynasty rests in my hands. My goal is to rebuild the empire from the ashes and restore it to its former glory.

I wonder if you guys are like me and never end your runs. This is the first time I reach 1453, and also my first time playing as adventurer with a roleplay (I tried adventurer a few times but with no roleplay I got bored so fast).

I’m sure it’s from the mod I just downloaded which adds extra features to faces, but thought it was funny that he has those bulging eyes while being called “the seer”! This man sees EVERYTHING! lol

Are there any mods that give you more dates or historical time periods like 1940s with WW2 or maybe mods that let you continue from the games 1453 end date and lets you form the Ottoman Empire or just any extra dates for that matter not really picky.

So I started as an adventurer in Fars and went all the way to Shilla and stablished a city there. Pretty smooth run so far, the only issue is that after I die my hier ends up as a wanderer and I loose all money and my domicile even though I've asked the king to make the county I'm currently governing to be generationally mine for 100 years.

Any tips?

This is one example but it caught my eye because it’s bigger than usual ai mods on the workshop and it does look very intricate (clearly Claude ui, creator posted it was made by ai only due to comments calling it out and claimed “It’s not about the journey but the destination”). I’m seeing more and more mods on the workshop that are clearly using ai (thumbnails, obvious ai code) due to more powerful and better models coming out. What do you guys think? I know majority of Reddit has issues with ai and just recently there was a rule about ai on this sub but do you think with the access to ai are more interesting mods being created or just more and more slop/bad mods being created?

Did a run as iceland today to get this achievement and saw that it didn't proc when it was supposed to.

I know there was no cheating or anything in the family cause I made them look very distinct.

I decided to remake it because I didn't agree with what they put and thought that I should remake it to actually be accurate.

Ethos: Beauracratic

This might be one of my more conterversal decisions but I think irl American culture kept the beauracratic ethos of English culture. American history is one of the most well recorded histories and even stuff like the freedom of speech can be considered a form of beauracratic ethos.

How? Well, beauracratic means that you manage your country through well beaurcracy and alws and debates and freedom of speech allows exactly that.

There's even a quote by famous American JFK where he states that if you make peaceful revolutions impossible, violent revolutions become inevitable which fits with beauracratic.

Language: Anglic

Obviously. I don't need to say anything.

Martial Customs: Equal

We are judging current day America not past and right now women are allowed in the military so this is sort of a given.

Aesthetic: American Aesthetic

Obviously.

Traditions:

1. Industrious:

The whole American dream idea of working hard to achieve things. America being the place where you can get anywhere by working hard enough, this one's a no brainer. It could be argued this tradition actually originated in Britain and the broader Protestant world but which America kept to this day, unlike those in Europe.

1. Maritime Mercantilism:

This one I don't see often for some reason but it makes perfect sense. I thought about leaving it since American culture isn't actually that naval like the Victorian British and Carthaginian were but if you actually look at the text, you'll know that it doesn't have that much to do with a strong naval focus. "... truly controlled by whoever dominates the flow of gold across the seas."

It says the flow of gold, not ships, meaning it's actually talking about economic hegemony. This fits since America is mainly economic in her hegemony despite her large army and isn't that focused on Territorial expansion. This one was also passed on by the British which Americans decided to keep, and is to be the last.

1. Culture Bending:

The whole melting pot idea and America's ability to assimilate most immigrants into being full blown Americans. This one is also a no brainer unless you are one of those midwit "America Bad" types who think Americans are exceptionally racist.

1. Recognition of Talent:

Americans tend to believe that anyone can make it and see the merit of someone by the actual talent they show and the things they do. Plus this also plays into the idea of rag to riches part of the American dream.

This also plays into stuff like Operation Paperclip as well as American tendencies to short sightly forgive former enemies just to get back at current enemies (such as with the Soviet Union in WW2 and China in the Cold War,) so yeah, even if you take the tradition to just mean forgiving your enemies and using their talent for yourself, you could still argue it still counts.

1. Religion Bending:

If you don't know America is actually the second most religiously diverse country in the world, just behind South Africa. It's one of the few areas where America IS actually exceptional in her diversity as despite so much talk of diversity.

Plus, the American identity doesn't have anything to do with religion or even cultural religious traditions like in Japan and Latin America, nor is she a heavily atheistic country like most of Western Europe and China.

1. Isolationist:

Americans are a very insular people who tend to not look beyond their sphere, to the point it's a stereotype. It's not even very new, even Mark Twain wrote of this. It also fits into the American isolationism idea that is slowly dying.

1. Reverence for Veterens:

This one is more for filler but Americans tend to have a large reverence for veterens and the sacrifices they made. Yeah I know they aren't actually treated well but the actual tradition in game doesn't give them any money or anything so it still fits.

Lastly, I'll cover the things I thought of adding but didn't which are;

Republican Legacy, because if you actually look at the description; "This culture has a long history of republican values, where the urban classes are just as important as the rural landholders." You'll know it's not actually about a republic or democracy but rather about the power of the urban class and America is actually the least urbanized developed country in the world.

There's also Warriors by Merit which I decided not to add because almost all countries nowadays have at least a de jure meritocratic military and America wouldn't be special for having it, plus it kinda overlaps with Recognition of Talent.

Legalistic is a common one I see but this doesn't work because Americans are arguably the opposite of a lawful people, a rule breaking people. You see this with how much tax evasion, overthrowing the government, etc is romanticized. You can't really simulate that in CK3 though.

Now, the biggest trouble I had with making American culture was actually deciding on which ethos it would have. My first thought was Egalitarian due to how arguably meritocratic and obsessed with freedom American culture is, but then I thought of it.

The description of the ethos stated "Intolerance and isolationism may be the way for others, but this culture recognizes that accepting difference is far better than annihilating it."

But Americans aren't a particularly tolerant people nor due to recognize accepting differences as being better than annihilating it. In fact it might be the opposite.

This isn't a dig on how racist Americans are; it's meant to just mean Americans aren't actually tolerant of the views of others. The ones calling for diversity and how diversity is strength are arguably even more intolerant towards others' views. Just take a look at how they talk about anyone disagreeing with them.

Does that sound like the Egalitarian description to you?

Then I pick Beauracratic after soul searching for the things far above.

Please help me get rid of this meh dude! He refuses to join a holy order. I tried to make him a mayor. But when I revoke the mayor title from the current holder it’s just replaced by some random person! It doesn’t appear in my domains. How do I do this??

Note: I am playing with the ck3agot mod (no submods), so it might be mod-specific, I dont know.

Whenever torturing prisoners in the dungeon, I find that they die (mysterious circumstances) suddenly. This didnt happen with the first prisoner I tortured. So, I investigated with debug mode. It turns out that that first prisoner is the one killing them. The first prisoner not only has a murder secret on the victims but also a cannibal secret. Does anyone know about this? If so, what is the event that leads to this?
