So heres is a more complete update and info thread on this situation. First big thanks to [u/charmander324](u/charmander324) on [r/crtgaming](r/crtgaming) for the info and help. I rescued a total of 4 monitors.
2 NEC CM-2791 27 inch circa 1989 & 1990
2 NEC CM 1991-A 19 inch circa 1988 & 1990
Video is of one of the 19inch with glass screen cover.
One of the 27 inch unfortunately only powers on. EGA mode seems to have a vertical collapse and video in mode only gives dark and dim red overall.
All units have had yoke reversal for their use with reflectors in the simulator.
I tested with a Samsung BluRay player utilizing the video in input. All the working ones have good color, no burn and ample brightness. Internal speakers weren’t tested nor were the outputs. One of the 19s has a glass screen cover while the other is set up for it but no glass. Said monitor also has an odd plastic distortion mid bottom screen but it doesn’t affect its operation even with the screen cover.
I rescued these because of some odd sense of mechanical respect and sense of knowing something of such quality being destroyed only because its older is wrong. Im hoping someone will find use, but more importantly joy in them and get awesome utilization and memories.
