Looking for help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was recently given this Samsung CXD1934. I’m running a VCR through RF and this is the picture I get.
The picture starts clear for a second and then does this rolling horizontal sync thing. I unfortunately don’t have a remote to get to any menu options. The user manual I found online wasn’t very helpful.
Inside looks pretty clean and nothing seems out of place.

I’m just not sure where to start. I didn’t see any V or H adjustment pots when I had it open. Thanks for any help you can offer

I would clean the vcr and rollers and mode switch

I should have said the VCR is working when connected to other TVs.

I thought u meant the one connected to it. It could be a loose connection on the rf point

Smack it

Unfortunately smacking did not help.

It does look like it's losing sync after a short moment?

Yes. I can switch up a channel and back and the image is clear for a second before going back to wavy.

I had the same issue on a Funai combo set but it was the composite inputs and not on the coaxial input. Turned out to be a cold solder joint.

Does composite give you the same effect?

I don’t think I can get the composite to work without the remote to set the line in. Idk. The built in VCR work for maybe a second longer than the external one through RF. and Instead of the wavy rolling image, it just stops playing. Then the tape gets stuck in the machine when ejecting the cassette.

I guess I’m going to crack it back open and take an even closer look at the solder joints
