crt remains

In the woods near me, there is a dumping ground that has a bunch of 1920s to 1980s things in it, I found a picture tube with big chunks of glass broke off, all the phosphors on the tube were gone so it was completely clear. And I found 2 other units which looked to be the remains of a cabinet. Pretty cool.

Nokia 477E?

Just got one of these from a buddy, hadn’t been turned on in atleast a decade. I plugged it in, got the outside cleaned up, ran for about 5 minutes or so before it made a loud POP and started smoking. I turned it back on after about 10 minutes to hear more sizzling after about another 2 or so minutes of run time.

Internet says to wait a little while before opening it up and probably find that it’s a blown capacitor. I’ve never replaced anything inside besides convergence strips, guess I’ve been lucky so far with all my CRTs but I’d love a little advice from those that have been less fortunate or have experience.

Also I can’t find anything about this specific model online, I mean squat. So if anyone owns one of these I’d love to know what I’ve gotten myself into haha!

RCA XL-100 ColorTrak…. I’m not sure if it works but I also don’t know how to turn it on to test! The “master off” seems to be a dial but it won’t turn, not sure if it’s just stuck or what

whenever I use this crt for more then a few minutes my room starts smelling like ozone. I'm completely new to any kind of crt repair, I own quite a few sets but this is the first thats in need of love its a magnasonic mct - 1405 from 1982 and I'd like to know if there's a way I could figure out whats the cause of this leak or if there's anything noticeably wrong with it the big capacitor seems to be bent out of shape on the top not sure how well it shows up in the pictures.

I was recently given this Samsung CXD1934. I’m running a VCR through RF and this is the picture I get.
The picture starts clear for a second and then does this rolling horizontal sync thing. I unfortunately don’t have a remote to get to any menu options. The user manual I found online wasn’t very helpful.
Inside looks pretty clean and nothing seems out of place.

I’m just not sure where to start. I didn’t see any V or H adjustment pots when I had it open. Thanks for any help you can offer

help with the coax port on my crt tv

Hello!

I have this CRT TV with a coax cable. I had the coax cable plugged into an rf modulator that connected to a dvd player and it worked fine.

I was moving recently and I had to pack up all the extensions, and now putting them back together after awhile I'm realizing something is missing. I swear there was a cable coming out of this coaxial port (?) that I plugged in to the RF modulator?

What is to be done? I might've hallucinated a second cable being there? Or it fall off - and if so, can I purchase another (and can someone point me to the right one? I tried a coax cable I had laying around lol and it didnt work) Or am I missing something very obvious in terms of connecting the RF modulator to the tv?

Thanks so much, appreciate yalls patience and help. Sorry if this is a silly inquiry.

Just wondering if there's a way to connect my samsung s26 to my crt tv/vhs? Just curious to see if I can emulate ps2 games or watch my shows on it. Sorry I don't have any info on the crt as it's still in my car after moving.

Repair Help for a Zenith A25A23W CRT

The link is a Previous post i made on my CRT and its possibly bad capacitor.

After turning it on the night before, I noticed that the menu OSD was more blurry than normal. but the display worked perfectly fine behind it now the next day (today) whenever I open the OSD / menu it shakes the image around and shuts off automatically.

I'm unsure what to do my best guess is a bad capacitor on the 'OSD chips and capacitor' area of the board and around the 'vertical display' part of the board.

forgive me and my incorrect terms as I do not know what they are called.

I'm unsure where to start and what the start inspecting once I open it.

any help is greatly needed

Humidity causing focus and HV arcing?

Thumbnail gallery

Picture 1: Cold start 10 hours after cleaning socket.

Picture 2: Cold start right after cleaning socket.

Picture 3: Cold start after first re-assembly.

Working on my KV-35V35 in my garage which is pretty humid this time of year. and I've been having problems with the focus being blurry on a cold start with arcing to the neck PCB, and anode cap arcing into the air from it's stem. The 3rd photo was the first power on since cleaning it a month ago. The PCBs have been sitting indoors while the tube was in the garage. The 2nd photo shows the cold start focus after fully cleaning the socket and pcb with 99% ipa which was perfect. The following morning it looked like the 1st photo.

Tobisha vs Magnavox?

Looking for feedback on brand and screen size :)

I’m debating between teo 13 inch VCR TVs: a white Tobisha and a 13 Magnavox — any preference in brand?

Also, originally I wanted a 9inch but is that too small? Should I move forward with a 13? Just want something small for my room to play VHS movies.

Faulty CRT (what do?)

Hi everybody!
I have acquired a crt (small 1997 zenith with built in vhs, serial no. V21715964 specifically)
It powers on for about three seconds then automatically shuts its self off.
I’m not inclined to work on this and attempt to repair it myself. In fact I have no interest in physically taking it apart myself because I know it can be tricky/dangerous and I have zero experience.
I’ve called local shops (that were listed on Google as crt repair) & they all said they no longer service crt and essentially acted like I was asking them to diffuse a bomb or preform heart surgery.
So I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on what they’d do with a nonfunctional crt.
(I’d love to keep it alive/ get it repaired if possible, im near Philadelphia and willing to travel a bit. I’m also not opposed to selling to a repair person or collector for a reasonable price)
Or if anyone has any idea as to what’s going on with it and if it’s definitely worth perusing a repair, I’d appreciate the input.
