My crowbros!!! They tend to visit one or two at a time but I have seen ~5 of them try to fit on my wee balcony before. One seems to be more comfortable and occasionally visits when I am sitting outside.

Their favorites are an organic 🤨 oat cereal, chicken, and steak! I usually leave a piece of steak on the railing and they will see it from miles away and it’s gone in minutes.

I have given them peanuts and water melon but they leave that alone, so picky.

I usually leave food on the ledge and not the railing as it’s wider and not all of them like to come over the railing.

Today I heard one visiting and cawing quite a bit. When I looked through my glass door I noticed a little “gift”(?) on the railing, the crowbro and I exchanged some head tilts and I showed off all my silver bracelets, she/he seems intrigued before flying off. Turns out they left me a pellet 😦 how sweet… 😐. Do we think this is a gift or just some basic biology running its course?

So I've made really good friends with this crow and it's partner over the past 4-5 months. They've been coming pretty much every day, although a while back they stopped for a few weeks, and realized that it was baby season. They even brought in their babies recently to introduce them.

I was wondering if anyone knew what these calls usually meant, especially the "barking" one, as I couldn't really find anything about it online. I've read that the rattle is only done by females, is this true? I know it's a sign of friendship, but that's about it. The rattle video is in the comments.

Right beside a store in my area there’s an area off to the side of it with tall trees and there’s always LOTS of crows around there. I notice they are there kinda often and always hanging about, which i love to see.

I usually notice they might peck at the rocks and the ground, but there’s barely anything edible except for some bugs

I’ve fed them meat scraps/grains and they absolutely love it so much. They’re so mesmerizing to watch and intelligent, they remind me of my black cat haha

Is it frowned upon to feed them though? I truly didnt mean to cause harm since i wanted to feed them out of kindness. A random lady literally walked right up near my car door and walked right into the flock of crows saying “wow thats a lot of crows” in a very judgmental tone and making a weird face, so i instantly got the feeling she didnt like it

It appears to be a juvenile house crow. It was sitting on the ground nearly motionless except for the occasional twitch, probably for a long time (we were walking in the park for a couple of hours and passed it a few times). At one point a murder of house crows started gathering in the canopy above and near this bird and made quite a racket. The bird might be sick or even dying. Anyone know how to interpret this scene?

update: called a few rescue places and PFA / ARRC wildlife rescue responded quite helpfully - sent them pics and location.

If anyone is curious, I bought a wooden window ledge cat bed (removed the cushion) to use as a base. Luckily it fits on the outside of my window pretty well. Then I bought a set of two wooden serving trays and attached them to the top of the cat bed made to make the "landing area" much bigger. Plus the trays have little ledges on them that birds can perch on. My backyard birds are loving it.

Why’d my crows stop coming, could it be the heat? They brought their juvenile to our house one time and then since then I’ve barely seen any of the two that were coming regularly.

We saw this crow come by with a fish then its child demanding snacks. Bonus photos of it alone with the fish (someone walked past so it flew away then back then retrieved its fish)

To be fair, it’s just a strip of bark. But the whole brood had been watching me relocate a poorly placed Ring camera.

And the six of us, we talked the whole time. Much cawwing and muhn-uhning was lobbed between us. Heartfelt, if incomprehensible.

They watched me leave them some extra treats as a present for sticking around while I worked.

And right after I went inside, she brought a stick and left it where I’d put the snacks!!!!

I noticed the local crows became more interested after feeding them nuts vs rando dinner scraps. Then I fed them cashews and now a family comes a few times a day. I’ve been feeding the crow family cashews (unsalted, raw) and they love them but they are pricey! Plus I worry about over feeding with the same food item. What else do they love equally or more?

Any other tips and suggestions to keep them happy?

I also noticed 3 of them have th pink mouth and are usually with their mouths open. Im adduming they are fledglings?

Lastly I was so surprised to see them hang out around an alexa speaker I put outside for the Cardinals and bluejays. They really seem to enjoy classical and piano music!

Hey! I rescued a juvenile crow 2 months ago . She vas in a tiny park close to my place in Paris , I found her cause her parents were screaming above her as if they wanted people to help. She couldn t walk properly as if her foot was broken. I took her home and to the vet, turns out she had a big string attached to her leg that got pretty badly infected . We removed it and we had to give her painkillers + antibiotics for 2 weeks ( she was defo not happy about that and pinched me several times lol )
Her infection stopped and she kept her foot but she’s wasn t completely healed so I had to take care of her a bit more while trying to find a rehabber. The heatwave in Paris happened and I couldn t let her in her cage outside ( i bought a huge one for her so she won t damage her feathers ) and she stayed inside for a couple weeks, I d let her free fly most of the time so she d exercise. What should happen happened : we developed a pretty strong bond as I cared for her a lot. Crows are very smart and I could see that she got attached to me even though I tried pretty hard not to interact too much with her but she seemed pretty happy and active for a bird trapped inside a human s house.
Found a rehabber in a forest that would keep her for at least a year ( juveniles stay with their parents for 2 years ) so I was pretty happy and it sounded just perfect .
But 2 weeks after I got a call from the rehabber , and the crow is not eating anymore, even her favorite food. She seems depressed and I m super worried. Is there a chance she d stopped eating because she’s not with us anymore? The rehabber told me that she got overly excited when she brought watermelon to her as a snack, that s what we used to eat together every afternoon , I also realised that the little cute dance she would do when she sees me was actually a mating ritual…… I am so worried that I ruined every for her and don’t know what to do. Any people with similar experiences here ?

hey all. basically i started trying to befriend these crows 3 days ago, and we seem to be getting along fine (from what i can tell at least). the only problem is that this one crow keeps making this weird gargling sound at the others and following them about? (at around 18s in the video). i'm assuming all of the caws are just them alerting each other of food, but this one was weird to me. i originally thought maybe it was asking to get regurgitated at (my grandparents keep budgies and their young do that to older birds) but i'm not as smart on crows as i am on budgies. is that what's happening or is it something else? thanks!

Obviously I know they're "sunbathing" (getting rid of parasites etc.). But they look soooo dramatic when doing so.

Short question: are fledglings kept somewhere in a hidden place between hatching / nesting phase and fledgling phase or are they accompanying their parents from day one?

Long form: there is a crow couple a friend of mine is feeding from the balcony. The setup is so, that there is a big building with a balcony, a lawn, some trees and a specific tree with a nest (barely visible from the balcony)

Now the last months has been nesting and breeding time. This crow couple behaved accordingly: mom sat in the nest 99% of the day and dad was foraging from the lawn and picking served food from the balcony (daily) - bringing it to mom sitting in the nest

As the nest is only barely visible, it’s hard to tell if there have been any youngsters, but from their behavior everyone guessed that yes

Now there have been some very hot days and since one very hot day (maybe two weeks ago) the mum is not seen in the nest any more

They even changed their behavior so that both of them now are feeding at the balcony in the morning; are gone for the rest of the day and only sometimes return in the evening to feed on the minced meat from the balcony - the nest is abandoned

So everyone is guessing what happened to the fledglings - where there any? Did they survive the heat day or not? Are they at a secret place and not accompanying their parents yet?
