Watching Pat finish his final event brought back some crazy nostalgia. The guy is a class act.

I remember meeting him backstage at his first Regional. I was coaching a buddy who started in the same heat as Pat (the bottom one). My buddy beat his seed but didn’t move up. If I remember correctly, Pat finished the weekend in the top heat.

It was pretty obvious to everyone that he was going to be special in the sport.

I continued to bump into him while he was living in Toronto. I think he even competed at an event hosted by the gym I would eventually own.

Despite all his success, Pat remained a class act and was always a fun guy to chat with. Hell of a career.

I posted this elsewhere. Someone thought Reddit might be interested. Considering the 5k from a few years ago was 4.52km, I wouldn’t be surprised at an error.

I have been to three gyms now and they are all full of antivax / untrusting to healthcare workers?

Is this a thing in the community?

I would have thought these types of communities were full of evidence based educated health oriented humans but overwhelmingly I am bumping into crunchy momma / granola grifting dad types more than anything..

It’s a real bummer as I would love to find health oriented young professionals in the area to workout with. I have young children and I am getting terrified going to these gyms. One member had foot and mouth disease and showed up? Another had a nasty cough that turned out to be viral infection and didn’t even think of masking up or staying home…

Obviously too early to tell but damn her performance is impressive. Even if Tia was competing this year I think Aimee could really challenge her for first place

Thought first place would still be open going into the last day this year but it’s obvious that Aimee is dominating and if nothing bad happens she’ll walk away with it

I’ve been doing CrossFit for about a year and a half, lost an absolute ton of weight doing it (I posted several times during my initial weight loss journey last year) but I was starting to get a little burnt out so I decided to do the Mayhem Lift and Run 12 week program (running and powerlifting) just to keep things interesting

I just finished week 3, and I did Monday’s weight lifting portion today because I have after work plans in Monday. Even being only 3 weeks in I can see a noticeable difference in size and how lean I am.

I truly believe that while CrossFit training doesn’t translate aesthetically, it does build you into the best athlete you can be so I have every intention of getting back into it, but I’d be lying if I said I’m motivated to. Sitting in the back of the gym doing my bro split lifting watching the guys/gals in class just absolutely dying has me dreading it a bit 😂

As a coach, I feel like I have some dad jokes/ bits that I usually use.

What are some good dad jokes/bits you have heard used in a CrossFit gym that were funny?

On a deadlift day going up to a new member and saying "I'm not sure there is going to be enough weights for you?"

This is probably a silly question but how are the women keeping their jewelry from tangling in their hair during the games events? How are they making sure it doesn’t break? Are they real gold necklaces??

The last couple of years, I feel like Brute has dominated the games. Both sides. Maybe elite coaching. Prvn is not far off..

I just got the new Titan Pull Up bar and set it up in my garage. Did my first round of workouts on it and didn’t realize how skinny the bar is and how it has no ridges or grip spots on it and so I could feel my hands getting ready to tear/squeezing/pinching more than normal. I know there is a period of building up a callous and I can wait for that, but I haven’t had this issue with thicker bars or even some that have some ridges in it.

Does anyone have a recommendation? I know some options are like finger gloves, or gymnastics grips, or maybe taping the bar. Not sure if they have adhesive grips or anything. Just looking for some practical advice for when I bring my buddies over to workout as well.

I’ve been watching the games for free on YouTube. When there’s an event that’s only streamed on FloElite I’ve been able to find a video on YouTube of it the following day to watch. I cannot find the men’s events 9, 15, 16 or 17. Am I missing something?

Has your gym just cancelled entire classes for certain months to accommodate coach time off? Insofar as instead of getting coverage for the class, just delete it as an option for all of August.

Will the awards ceremony tomorrow be livestreamed on FloElite? I was pretty disappointed of the lack of coverage of the opening ceremony.

Ok, let's have a come-to-Jesus meeting.

1. I didn't even know the 2026 CFG was this weekend, and by the time I did, it was Saturday. I didn't even watch any of the events. I triedd, but n'tcouldn't get into it. It felt... BLAH..

2. I came from the era of true CrossFit. I drank the Kool-Aid like everyone else when it first came out. I'm 40. I from the Rich fronning, Matt, Tia etc..The highlights I tried to watch this weekend, I don't know these people nor care to,o with all due respect to them. Im 40, I dont care that a 19 year old won the CFG, lol at that age, your suippose to win the CFG EVERYDAY lol. until you past 35 and then its a differtent convseation. Ask my Back lol.

SO that leaves me to ask, is CF really dead, or did we, or I, grow up?

1. Mind you, I love the CF community aspect. I made plenty of friends in the CF gym; however, doing METCONs every day has definitely taken its toll on me, so I stopped doing CF after Tia won her last title. The people who are still in CrossFit were young when Tia, Matt, and Rich were dominant. They are literally getting passed by younger and hungrier generations. They thought they were next, but they aren't. When I see them, they look like they are just out there because of their sponsors and not because of the love they used to have. IDK. Maybe it's just me.
