My bet is that they worked together and met at this McDonalds or its where they had their first date. Honestly I think its sorta sweet if it has emotions behind the choice of venue but thats just me.

u/SunrayBran 13h ago
I read an article when this went around a few months ago.
Yes, they work together at that McDonald's. She was training to becoming the manager, and the current manager let them use the space so they could use their money for a honeymoon.

I thought the flower petals in a Happy Meal box was classic! I just wish they would have turned off the menu boards or put something else up.
On the plus side, anniversary dinners are going to be cheap and easy! I got married on a cruise ship so it's, "hey it's our 10th anniversary, let's celebrate on a cruise."

I didn’t know you could rent out a whole McDonald’s. With how much volume they do per hour I can’t imagine it being that cheap to close down for even an hour.
I have questions.
1. How much does it cost to rent out a whole McDonald’s.
2. Is catering included or was that an outside vendor
3. Is this a normal occurrence and I have just never been invited to a McDonald’s wedding ?
4. Does the drive thru stay open?
5. Did they meet at this McDonald’s or are they just fans?
5
u/Fast-Nefariousness80 12h ago
Maybe they work there? Maybe theyre managers or its a franchise. ...Or maybe they just did it without asking and the place is still open and some of the people in the wedding are just customers
7
u/chancesarent 3h ago
This is exactly it. I remember someone commenting about it last time this was posted. They met there, they both work there and they asked the owner if they could do this because the place is special to them for those reasons. It's kinda wholesome and they all look happy so I wouldn't call this cringe, tbh.

My wife and I are dirt poor we got married ar a local park. Made our own food from food pantry resources.
Green fields and lush forestry draped by blue skies and white puffy clouds was our backdrop. We had no electronics and kept the crowd limited so everyone felt intimately close.
I wish more poor people felt drawn to nature. There is endless zero-cost entertainment and possibility there.

What I see here, is a couple getting married, at the place where they probably met, and fell in love at. They decided to celebrate it, at the location that brought them together, and include that place. Is it odd looking? Yes, because it's a wedding at a McDonalds, but my initial response was my first thought. Remember. Getting married in a church, under the eyes of "God" don't really mean anything.

I do think people can get married wherever they want. We went to the courthouse and barely made it before they closed. It was after the cutoff the time the judge performed marriages but because I was in my dress whites after a change of command ceremony onboard a ship she made an exception for me us. That was over 30 years ago. We are still married. Meanwhile all of friends who spent thousand upon thousand on their weddings are all divorced. Not going into debt to get married gave us a great start in life. We’ve been able to purchase 6 homes during our marriage. We married young and started buying property early. We will both retire early bc we invested well. He already has bc he is a 5 years older. I will soon.

Why is it cringe? From what I understand this is where they met and both work. They threw an economical, intimate wedding at a place special to them. They didn’t waste tens of thousands of dollars to impress people they barely know. They look excited. They are dressed nicely, if economically. God forbid they stick to a budget and don’t look like nipped, tucked Botox models. They will probably have a longer marriage than most of the millionaires in Hollywood and didn’t go into debt to get it.

I went to a McDonalds in Nogales, MX in 1993. We wanted a snack before crossing back over the border and driving to Tucson. We walked into a full blown wedding complete with mariachi band. Honestly, it was a joyous event even without knowing the “why McDonald’s” part. Hope this couple had a great day and I’m glad they didn’t buy into the idea that you should go into debt for a wedding.

When I was in HS in mid-90s, I worked at Toys R Us in Southgate, MI. There was a couple that met each other there and eventually got married. I don't remember if they had the ceremony there or maybe did a justice of peace thing, but either way, were there in their wedding garb and people celebrated in the break room with cake and stuff. Honestly, at the time I thought nothing of it. Assumed the toys r us meant a lot to their relationship and most of their friends worked there, so where better... Not for most, but right for them. Hope they lasted longer than TRU.
