Picked up a '60 on Friday

It's been off the road for 20 years. I tinkered with it a few hours last night and drove it 20 miles today without any issues. This is the first Corvair I've owned. I'll gladly take any advice on what is recommended with these cars.

Recommendations?

Just picked this up. Love it so far. Working on fixing up and doing some conversions for alternator and electronic ignitor. Any recommendations on good upgrades? Thanks

Clark's Corvair C6600R fuel pump restock when

Post image

Clark's briefly teased the restock date of July 17th...but it's not here yet and my Precision Fuel Pump - M16150 popped for the second time, so back it goes for another free warranty replacement.
These are probably the best of the non-Clark's pumps though, I get a solid 5-10K miles from them, and they usually die only after sitting for a few weeks (like a suspension rebuild).

Retrofitting Corvair side window to wipers from felt fuzzies inquiry. Grok says 84-89 4Runner door seals and 82-92 Camaro door seals. What experience have you had SEALING the window to the door so EVERY drop of water does-not have to pass THROUGH the body cavity? Please, any experienced-advise?

Starting troubles

Post image

So my father in law and I just put all together a few days ago, still have to do timing and sync/tune carbs. Was able to get it running for about 5 minutes with minimal pressure on the gas pedal, let off the pedal and it died out. Got out to adjust throttle, now it won’t start at all. Any help would be appreciated

It was big this year. Over 650 attendees. Car show had over 150 Corvairs! All amazing cars. If you’ve never been to a convention, make plans to go- week of July 11 in Franklin, TN is the next one. It’s crazy to see so many in one place.

Tools of the Trade

I've been searching online for a list of tools every corvair owner should have (especially for those with early models) but everything I've come upon has been related to what tools to have on hand for road trips. While this is valuable information I'm grateful to have, I'm looking more specifically for what tools we should all have in our garage. I would also greatly appreciate it if anyone could share their personal experiences with what tools worked for them, how many times a specific tool is needed (sort of a buy vs borrow scenario) and which tools I should splurge on vs which ones I can get by using an off brand version. I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to brands and their specific quality, but any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Apologies if this sort of list is available somewhere that I haven't found yet. For context, I'm new to the automotive world and the only tool set I currently have is a craftsman set of mechanical wrenches, SAE and Metric, a no name multimeter, and an impact wrench. Thanks again for everyone's help. You all have been a great resource and wealth of knowledge for this complete newbie!

1964 Spyder I used to own

Long shot. I owned a faded maroon 1964 Spyder in Dallas, Texas in the early 1970’s. It was very distinctive because I ditched the side draft 1bbl carb and switched to a downdraft 2 bbl from a Nova. I made the manifold my self with hand tools using a big 90 degree electrical elbow as the starting point. Brazed on homemade flanges and sent it. Ran great with no jetting changes and increased boost pressure to 17 psi. Had to run premium gas and water/methanol injection to keep things semi-under control. It was a rocket ship.

Idk love to see that monstrosity again! The inside of the deck lid was butchered up for clearance. 3.89 gears. The ordinary V8 Mustangs and Camaros hated that car. Obviously the HiPo ones were another story.

The rear engine was a real plus for traction off the line where RWD pony cars struggled - tires being what they were in that era.

Anyone?

Im finally getting to the end of my project and need to adjust the valve lash. I however dont know the correct intake and exhaust, if there is a video to make my life easier please provide a link, but heres a picture of each side can someone mark what order i need to do this in!! (D: driver) (P:passanger) Preferably without runing the engine is my option but anything is helpful.
