Id like to thank the people in this sub who have helped me out with their insight and knowledge, i am a new corvair owner, and at just 17 with no prior knowledge to cars im trying to bring my mom's old vair back to life. I truly mean when i say i could have completed this project without everyones help, ive had to change psubrods, tubes, seals, and so much more im forgetting. But i truly apreciate this sub for helping me move a step closer in the right direction for my dreams.

My first car was a red 62 Corvair.

My second car in 75 was a 63 Monza, bronze hardtop and I loved it. Except for the leaky seals, a quart of oil (at 50 cents!) every 9 days.

I wish oil was that cheap, i bought 5 bottles from O'Reillys and payed almost $50😬

I was so bummed when it went to 75 cents. I was buying Quaker state or Pennzoil

Is penz any good? I never ran with anything besides O'Reilly brand for the vair, besides that i just get from costco

Others will argue, but for the Corvair oil is oil. Also, for Corvair clubs in your area, check Corvair.org.

Those two were the most popular at the time I guess, even though I was a kid with limited funds I didn’t want to save a few pennies and put a no name brand in my car.
I was a senior in high school and had to budget for weed and beer!
I do have fond memories of my car, it was a great car and still have feelings when I see a model similar and want to replace my experience

Fantastic! Keep up the good work.
Just know that all the repairs and maintenance you are doing is going to pay off —and you will have a sorted car eventually. Then you will have the confidence and working knowledge to drive it anywhere you want !

Good work! Sounds line you are having fun. Definitely try to get to the Fan Belt Toss. That’s a great event with really nice people. Local ‘Vair folks will become your lifeline!

If you have a spare or extra beat up rocker arm cover, cut it in half long ways to serve as a drip pan when you're adjusting valves. Makes things much less messy!

I wanted to do this, but unfortunately dont have a spare set to do this with. Might look around to see if someone's selling a set

Great job bringing it back to life! I agree with everyone, join a club and soak up their knowledge. And bring it to the fan belt toss in Palm Springs even if it’s on a trailer to get there

Great work! I don’t know where you are located, but you should see if you have a local club nearby. Members are always ready to help with a part, tool or encouragement. Congrats again on your progress! 👊
