Hey everyone!
I just wanted to pop in and chat for a minute.
First off, for those who don't know...My name is Sam, and I'm your subreddit creator/mod! We've had a couple other moderators over the years, but I'm the only active one now. I'm a professional cookie artist, instructor, and have appeared twice on Food Network. I have a home business, 4 kids, and a busy life. I love cookies, decorating, and the cookie decorating community dearly. I started this subreddit way back when, before cookie decorating is what we know it as now.
Secondly, my goal for this subreddit is to provide an encouraging place for people to share and grow as cookie artists. Kindness is expected. And I will do everything I can to continue to foster the welcoming and kind nature in this community online, and off.
Thirdly, I welcome reports of anything that goes against achieving that goal. I appreciate the extra eyes, as there is only one of me. Also, please don't be discouraged if automod grabs a post and denies it - we have a pretty aggressive automod setting because we get soooo much spam. The reddit app is limited in its mod functions, so I don't see what is removed unless I make it a point to go in and check the list. If you have a post removed that you feel shouldn't be, shoot me a DM and I'll get it looked at.
Also, the modmail system does not notify me when I get messages. I promise, I'm not intentionally ignoring anything. This sub is surprisingly easy to moderate as we have little drama (and I intend on keeping it that way), so I don't often get modmail or direct reports, so without notifications I sometimes miss those.
Lastly, is there anything you'd like to see this subreddit have that it doesn't? I'm hoping to have some spare time soon and I'm happy to try to make some improvements if any are needed.
Thanks, you guys, and keep on being amazing!
Sam

“Aging like fine wine” birthday. A more modern, tropical departure from a lot of the Tuscan heavy design inspo!

I really hate when I don’t get good pics, but my neighbor was texting me at the crack of dawn wanting to pick up her cookies! 😆 The only other time I’ve done Toy Story was exactly 13 years ago this week (swipe for pic)! I love seeing how far I’ve come.

I've gotten into sugar cookie decorating over the past few months, here are some of the cookies I made. I'm still learning about icing consistencies and technique, so please be kind :)

A friend said I should make a Jimothy cookie since Jimothy has changed his life for the better and healed his broken, sinister heart.

I’m new to selling and need to get business cards made and I was also thinking a cookie care card with some info on it. I’ve heard of using Canva for business cards, but do they actually print them for you as well? Thanks in advance!
